Not only that, but this year is now only the second in the modern MLB era with to no hitters in the same season, 2010 being the previous
Phillip Humber of the White Sox pitched a no hitter two months ago

Not sure if any of you noticed, but last night a chap - a Giant I believe - pitched a "perfect game" in Baseball.
I gather this is pretty rare. Not sure if there are other sports where something so rare happens? The report said it was "the 22nd perfect game" (I assumed in MLB), which, if true, given how much Baseball is played, must be quite something.
The photo is not from last night, but note the crowd all taking photos of the scorebaord.
"....I was there....." sort of thing I guess.
Must be almost worth a Tighty bell graph.
It is indeed a rare thing seeing as each team plays 162 games in the regular baseball season- See here for definition-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_game
Is that Mohican from next door? Welcome aboard Carl, good to see you here!
Are you a Baseball freak?

How rare is that Tighty, overall?
Are there any MLB Games I could easily catch (Live) whilst over in Vegas?

There will be wall to wall coverage of MLB in the sportsbooks, they stagger starting times through the day, and timezone differences too
ESPN America has them on every night here too on ch430 on the EPG
As to going to a ballpark, only triple A ball (MLB reserves, in effect) in Vegas
Obviously places like Phoenix and LA have MLB teams

Big difference between a no hitter and a perfect game.
A no hitter is where no batters hot the ball to reach base. However, it does no include walks, errors or hit by pitches.
I remember AJ Burnett throwing a nono but walking 9 in a game for the Marlins about 10 years ago.
A perfect game is where the batting side have zero base runners all game. So it has to be a faultless display by the pitcher and his fielders.
Been 277 no hitters but only 22 perfect games.

Go and see a Las Vegas 51s game.
I guarantee you'll have a great time.

my mistake in terminology. Humber pitched a perfect game too.

I remember reading an autobiography of an actor a few years ago (it might have been Bob Hoskins, someone like that anyway) and he was invited to an evening at the snooker for a piss up basically.
He popped into the arena to watch one frame, and it happened to be Kirk Stevens' 147.. at the time only the second ever made in tournaments.
"This game is easy" he thought as he left the arena.
It remained at the time of writing the book, the only frame of snooker he had ever watched.

Ahh, THAT is the stat I was angling for.
Tonight, I shall now (try to) impress a worldwide Live TV audience with my incred Baseball Stat knowlerge.
I did the Show with young Anna Fowler on Tuesday, she may not be perfectly game, but she is perfectly lovely.
I was having a little sport with her as to Euro12 football, sort of setting her up a bit.
"What was the Russia score today Anna"
Blank look.
"How many booking in the Holland match"?
Eyes glazed over.
"The England game, how many corners?"
FOUR
"Lol, dont be silly, whatever made you say that?
FOUR corners teeks,. A football field is rectangular, I've seen one. Four corners.
Gotta love that kid, honestly, she is utterly lovely.

Gotcha Keith, thank you.
I hope you decide to return to Las Vegas for the Main, but good to hear that common-sense prevails when you are not running as well as you might.
More than that, I hope you continue with that Diary of yours. It is a wonderful read, reminds me so much of Camel Ruminates, you write lovely crisp & clear stuff, well presented, simple, but eloquent. I'll comment on there as soon as time permits, but one or two entries were really well-pitched, I thought.
