I noticed that Tevez, the Man City footballer chap, was a sort of “Guest” or “celeb” caddie yesterday, too.
Apparantly he wont be asked back as he never took the bag off even when walking on the green.

I heard at the turn he announced he was going back to the clubhouse because he'd had enough and his family missed the roaring fire and vintage port. He said he'd only caddy for the front 9 if his wages were increased but even then he still might caddy for someone else instead.

When questioned about this later, he explained he was mistranslated and that he had always wanted to carry on caddying for the full round. It was just a misunderstanding.

Just seen his Olympic entry. Now get that reference and happily accept the compliment!

Will you be glued to the screens for the Olympics?

Business will be on the back burner for the 18 days for me.

24 hour multi media coverage, but I still believe the photograph will capture the spirit & occasion best.

Posted this for Tikay in a long dead thread. Figured I'd repost it here:

Congrats on your finish.  I randomly bumped into this thread while looking for more PLO8 tournaments. Would have said congratulations earlier if I could answer your damn security questions (wtf is a Pillar mailbox???)

Funny, you and I sat next to each other at the Wynn tournament and were (pleasantly) giving each other a hard time before the first cards hit the table.  Something about how mean Americans were as I recall...

Good morning!

Yes, of course I remember you. An american, but you studied Law in London, yes?

You were seat 1, I was seat 2, Gotcha.

You talked a lot, & were loud. You were most convivial company. Think we were, to use an American-ism, busting each other's balls, though all in good heart.

Fun Tourney, made so many nice friends, thoroughly enjoyed.

The Brit Guy who joined the table after late regging was Steve Jelenik, & he cost my half my stack when I sort of knew he would try the bare A trick on the Board that showed the J high flush. (I had the Q high flush).

But that Canadian Online Pro - best player on the Table by a MILE  - was laying in wait for both of us with the K high flush. I check, Canadian checks, Steve fires out, I snap, "gotcha", & am horrified when the Canadian guy also snaps!

Anoither Bracelet winner joined the table, too, American chap, seat 4.

Hope we can hook up again on some 8 or better, or Omaha Tables sometime.

I really should have Finalled the WSOP 8 or Better, but I made a rash play (had decided to gamble) & it cost me. That exit hand has haunted me ever since, but truth is, I just decided to go for it, to gamble, & it failed.

At the Wynn, I can't quite recall, but I think I ended up 6th, & as soon as I went busto, the other 5 chopped it up. Wink

Stay around man, there are some decent threads on blonde. Some shite ones, too. Wink

I'm astonished you managed to find me here, glory be to google. (English company, you know).

All in good fun!

We were down to 12 people going into that hand and someone at our table busted out pretty quickly.  So I had time to walk over to your table and I saw you thinking about your decision on the 10JQK hand.  You were thinking for a long time and I was able to see your hand over your shoulder.  I guess since all of the action had completed except for your all in or not decision you weren't concerned about protecting your cards.

I admit I didn't much like your decision either.  I told my buddy that was railing that if you called (or pushed) here you were done for the tournament.  Just didn't seem like a strong enough hand to put your tournament life on the line for when you had 100K+ chips behind.

That was my first ever WSOP event and I made so many mistakes at the final table.  Even lost 400,000 chips when we were 4-handed because I thought I had a flush and called on the river.  I'm an idiot!  Went from 1st place to 3rd on that hand.  Absolute miracle I have a bracelet on my wrist right now.  I'm not complaining!!  Smiley

This must be the right place for this.  Truly inspiring.

Back in 1989, as the Berlin Wall fell, Gunther Holtorf and his wife Christine set out on what was meant to be an 18-month tour of Africa in their Mercedes Benz G Wagen. Now, with more than 800,000km (500,000 miles) on the clock, Gunther is still going.

You know how annoying these things (Captcha's) are when you're trying to register an account somewhere.

Well do you know the link between

1. A modified version of these

2. One of the companies you admire greatly - Google

3. The Google Book project where they have already scanned over 20 million books into an online readable format?

Yes?  Oh, crap.

No?  Great I'll explain for no other reason than I found out about this a while ago and though you'd find it interesting.

Every time someone is presented with one of these modified Captcha's, known as ReCaptcha's they are solving a puzzle.  What's clever is that Google realised they could put this mass-problem solving workforce on the internet to work.  They have around 200 million of these solved by people on the internet every day, so that's 200 million words deciphered by users for free.  You solve one of those you're working for Google!

How is that helping Google?

Each time they show a ReCaptcha one of the words is a "known" word and one is "unknown".  The "known" word is taken from a set of words suitable for mangling to make it tricky to guess. The "unknown" word is taken from the Google Books project book scans.  When they scan a book they can Optical Character Recognition (OCR) the output and turn most of the scan into text, the parts they can't OCR they break into "words" and pass to ReCaptcha for solving.  Ingenious!

Check out the following link to see the pretty amazing accuracy achieved
