Hi Tikay, have you ever been to the Black country Living Museum?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Country_Living_Museum

Although not a vast site it has a real good feel of what things were like in the area.

Oh, and they also have some trolley buses.

Yup, many times.

Think they used to have shops which sold stuff in "old money", & for £!, you could buy five old pennies. Truly.

Note, of course, they all had double rear-axles. Obv.

They also had that long stick thingy that the conductor used to re-engage the trolley when it fell off the wires, I always used to enjoy watching that when they had them in Nottingham.

Sigh @ "long sticky thing" Ralph.

It was high-tech - a bamboo pole with a hook at the top.

It was quite a thing when the arms came off the wires, people would stop & stare, & it would be the talking point for days.

Had a lovely time at DTD yesterday in the £300. I skilfully worked it so that I would be able to stay at home on Sunday & watch Superbowl, too.

I had James Atkins three to my left all day, & he was a perfect pleasure to share the Table with.

I knew he would major on me, he knows I'm weak passive, & he had position, so I tried to stand up to him, we played scores of pots together, & did OK for a while, & honours pretty even.

Well, until this beauty.....

We somehow tangle when I held

Can't fold that against him, can we?

Flop is the awesomely intriguing......

Hmm.

I have no idea what I put him on (= guessed what he might have) but for some reason, I was certain he had no clubs.

The Turn was another damn club, but I was still sure I was good.

Chips aplenty in the middle by now.

River pairs the 6......

I make a comedy lead, to try & confuse him, he sticks it right up me with a pot-sized bet.

Well I mean, what a lovely board to bluff on, he probably has air here.

So I bluff called.

He shows 7-7, for the House.

In fairness, if I were a better player, he would have had all my chips in Level one, when I flopped the flush with  when the flop came

How can he possibly have  there?

That is why I never post poker hand stories, I'm so shite.

He's a smashing lad, a credit to poker.

Been trying to get this chap for months, this is the first time I've managed to get anywhere near him.

He stands for hours with his wings outstretched, his wingspan must be over a metre, I think it is a standard Cornmorant posture to dry their wings, but I just missed his "wing display" this morning.

I believe they live on fish, so the Thames must be well-stocked, as there are several Cormorants in the Hampton Court area.

The sprouts of grass & twigs in the first picture are on the Thames Path, but it is currently badly flooded, the Thames is very high indeed.

This was at 7.30 this morning, whilsat I was out jogging, so the light was not too good. Next time I'll get the bugger properly.

Whilst you were out jogging? You're never getting that one through.

FML, trust you to be first to spot it.

I jog to the garage every morning to get my first latte. In my car.

I was initiated into my Latte habit by Motorway Service Stations "Coffee Nation", so it suits me fine. My palate is like me - cultured.

Interest in my jogging & latte habits, but no interest in that wonderful cormorant, fml.

I bet a pound to a pinch of shit that if I had called the Cormorant by it's alternative (& equally correct) name, everyone would have commented.

Hi Jim.

As I have commented elsewhere (TfT), it has all gone a bit wrong for me tonight, as I've been called in to do tonight's Show, as someone has become unavailable, so my Super Bowl evening has been a bit disarrayed. I should be able to tune in from around 0030, all being well, so it's not ideal, but work has to come first. Until I retire, that is.....

It would have been my first Super Bowl night (start to finish) so I shall remain a virgin a little longer. Bit of a blow, but just one of those things. I only found out late last night, so I've still got a bit of a curly lip Wink

Incidentally, a Luton random, (recreational station) by the name of Chompy reckons it is "Super Bowl", not "Superbowl". He can barely string a coherent sentence togetgher, being from the Fens, & he's lecturing us on grammatical niceties. Marvellous.

A few years ago, who'd have thunk you would be out photographing cormorants?

I'm proud of you.

Great pics too btw.
