Congratulations on 65,000 posts, Tikay.

Ha, had to be a shitty one.

65,000, how sad is that?

Wonder what I would have done with that time were it not for blonde?

As I mentioned yesterday, I've been treading the blonde boards for a year now and 63 days of that have been spent reading about bets, poker updates, chess, current affairs and fry ups

I can pretty much predict what line almost any blonde will Post on any topic without reading it. Some notable exceptions, obviously.

I can tell by the first Post if a thread will get hot, & who will stoke the fires.

And yet, some threads defy understanding.

You mention the "Fry Up" thread, jeez, how popular was that, & who would have thought? 146 pages! Good read, too, not a spot of arguing or bad blood.

Someone started a thread yesterday - Carl I think - called "Tin of beans". And it hit 5 pages in a trice. Could you ever predict that? If you met Carl, you'd probably back off. Mohican hair do, sometimes pink, tattos galore. Books & covers? You could not wish to meet a more well-rounded & genuine lovely guy. I spent most of my life doing books & covers, & I discovered too late what I was missing.

Rod Paradise (an alias, not his real name)  is, I hope, a good friend of many years, a real lover & understander of animals, nature, & someone you want on your side if things cut up rough. Love him to bits. And yet he said things on the Lady Thatcher thread that had me wincing. My issue there is not that he is wrong - it is that I feel a need to understand how a really decent man can get so upset & bitter about stuff so long afterr the event. Does closure NEVER come, do we take it to the grave? We have falllen, for no fault of his or mine, on opposite sides of several fences, but the respect remains total, or at least it does from me. Proper bloke.

I want to go on the thread & discuss it, but I just can't be doing with the sort of debate where everyone just lob inbsults at each other, whilst the topic slowly gets submerged in the vitriol. We mock Parliamentarians who debate so badly, but are we any better?

So many mysteries.

Think I had bettter go to bed before I dig a really deep hole.

I'll stop all this nonsense tomorrow.

We get back to basics, the stuff we all enjoy. Bridges, aeroplanes, locomotives, gantries, Robbie Williams, pylons, and concrete. Yeah, lots of hardcore concrete.

Photos, the lot.

Just watching MTV right now, 90's Classics. Incredibly evocative. Chris Issak, what happened to him?

Wicked. Wicked game.

Damn. Maybe you were sensible enough to stay schtum, & I was daft enough to write it.

It really interests/puzzles/saddens me though. I'm sure he'll understand.

Oh Dear God no Aaron, don't raise THAT subject again!

Whatever ever turns folk on is just fine, but even in this day & age, some things just ain't suitable for for, err, public consumption. I'll have nightmares again now.

I suppose it is an age or generation thing, but the casual manner in which some really gutteral stuff, usually sexual, is readily discussed on a Forum, makes me wince. The world is changing too fast for me.

You swerving Dublin, I guess?

Yeah, think I'll be missing all the SPT's this year by the looks of it.  Wish I had made the London SPT now, thought my previous plans meant I couldn't go so I didn't look into it at all.  Turns out I was sat at home pretty much the whole weekend with nothing on.  Barring SPT Brighton that would have been the closest and easiest SPT to get to as well.

I'll definitely be back at them sometime though, always such fun weekends.  I just needed to sort out the balance of work, life, poker, etc.  I'm almost balanced.

Talking of MTV and music what are your thoughts on Pink?

I think she's got a similar presence about her as Gwen Stefani.

Also going from great success in 2001

She didn't even go bonkers yet and introduce anything silly to her act like harajuku girls!

Life balance sorted? Well done. I think most if us get un-balanced as to life's priorities at some stage. I've been guilty of it all my life, though in a weird way, it turned out OK. I should have achieved more, but I had so much fun along the way, met so many great friends & people, so thats OK.

Pink? Love her, really terrific, though I much preferred her early stuff. She's endured though, through several generations of music, & fans. Better than Gwen? Not sure, pretty level in my book. I'm in awe of Gwen, but I really could not bear that phase when she did all those Vids with the Japanese girls.

Lets get this party started!

Sending out the message to all of my friends
we'll be looking flashy in my Mercedes Benz
I got lots of style with my gold diamond rings
I can go for miles if you know what I mean

I'm the operator
you can call anytime
I'll be your connection to
the party line

Ooh.......

and 12 years on from Get The Party Started - 3 superb singles and all quite different.

Posted the links for the benefit of the less cool readers of your diary who think Pink is just a variety of Panther.

Quite right Aaron, some of my readers are particularly old, veteran even.

Ralph was in to Doris Day you know.

Proper sex object was Doris, or Miss Kapplehoff as he used to call her. Proper prim was Ralph, when he had his eyes on ladies prominatories.

Thanks for that Tony & I'm not and wouldn't have been angry/upset with you asking the question. I count going against my better nature against her too I guess, she didn't care for us, in fact called us the enemy, not many people say nice things against their enemies after their passing.

I get that my views would upset people, for various reasons - TBH it annoys me that she still gets to me. I suppose seeing the effects even now, and the hagiography that was going on got to me. Personally I'd love to look back and say 'She did more good than harm' but I genuinely believe she didn't. I'd more love to look back and say 'That was bad but it got better when we got rid of her' but Blair's abandonment of what Labour were meant to be killed that too. I'll not bother posting my wishes for him....

My final hope before I give up on politics altogether is Independence - and then a chance of a change of direction - something more akin to Norway's style. I still have hope, it's just getting harder to keep it going.

Funny enough I'm happier now than I've been since before I joined blonde. Job's secure, I can telecommute so I'm back in my home area, with a lovely girl, and we're looking at moving in together. Been tee-total for over a year, although I honoured a promise to myself from long ago and went for a pint to wish Satan luck with some old ex-miners. Feeling the benefits health wise as well, although, typically, it's when I give up drinking I end up going out with the barmaid. Poker is still just a pastime - only local pub poker now, but it's a good natured game.

I have to get to bed now, am up at 5, so can't reply fully now, but that makes me so happy to hear. Arriving at self-peace is a wonderful thing.

Incred that you went teetotal then found a barmaid, so to speak. All those years you had trouble finding one.....

Do you still follow the Football? Quite a year your boys had. What is your view on Neil Lennon? Seems a pretty brave man to me, what with this and that. Do you think he will ever manage an EPL Team?

Poker? Same here.found small-ball poker and I adore it, though I still hanker for an annual foray to Vegas for the bigger stuff. Anyway, more tomorrow on that.

Is rod's burd old enough to be a bar maid? Wink

Fancy asking a celtic fan what they think of Lennon! If I could have some bits fitted, that enabled me to have his children, then I would do it tomorrow. Will prob manage an English team one day, hopefully it's a decent one, and not a west Brom, Fulham or arsenal type club.

Still a fanatic yes, although that's under threat with the police targeting fans for political reasons, to the extent of 'kettling' protests, and running an intelligence unit you'd think were targetting the mafia. It's getting not worth the hassle, for instance one of the boys was stopped at Glasgow Airport today and questioned about his football following. I can't imagine the justification for sending a couple of cops to the airport, to intercept a non-violent football fan, and intimidate him with their knowledge of his place of work, and his girlfriend's name, etc.  just to continue a war declared over political supporting/policing at football.  There were 4,500 of us at a protest over the issue on Saturday, so the war will continue.

Neil Lennon is a strong character, although he suffers from depression, but the worst seems over for him, although the press will twist his words to create a sensation just to try and sell papers. The absecence of Rangers from the SPL has made it a lot tamer, with less hassle, although that's maybe what made the police pick the fight, they need to justify budgets of course....

Anyway, been working late, running reports etc. Strange kind of flexi-time means I'm sometimes playing catchup - but if the boss gives you leeway you can't let him down.... But it's now bedtime. Going to quickly walk my dog, that'll help me switch off and get to sleep when I get back in.

Shush you, and yes, she is. I am lucky enough to be dating a younger woman, and even luckier to have been given her parent's approval. The young lady you took to the football in Aberdeen seemed a bit younger than you as well I seem to remember, I remember her & her mate being very entertained with the 'drinking club with a football problem', all of whom I know quite well.....
