I posted this question on facebook earlier, but the only reply so far has been to ask you:

The Queen turned 87 today. I'm wondering...if she sends out congrats letters to people when they hit 100, will she be writing to herself in 13 years time? Enquiring minds want to know.

There are enquiring minds on Facebook?

I've no idea of the answer, though. They do have a special Website for such things though. Full of fun, this baby.....

On that spolling thing, physics has a fun set of made up words:

The rate of change of something.

Start off with position. That's where a thing is.

The rate of change of position is called velocity.

The rate of change of velocity is called acceleration. So far so good.

The rate of change of acceleration is called jerk. Bit harder to imagine but OK.

The rate of change of jerk is called...

Jounce.

I've never heard that word spoken aloud apart from the one time I was told of its existence.

Now THAT is beautiful.

The particular words which grow around specific specialities fascinates.

In IT we now have architects.

I know a chap who is an "IT Problem Manager". He keeps himself pretty busy, I gather.

In the world of micro, we have quarks, gluons, quasers, leptons, mesons, quartons, & even pentaquarks.

My favourite has to be the quark family, which consists of the following sub-divisions.....

Up

Down

Top

Bottom

Strange

Charm

PS - Note the punny adjective. particular. Almost proud of that.

Quarks, gluons, quasers, leptons, mesons, quartons, & even pentaquarks...

Now that brings me onto one of the authors I was going to recommend, Richard Feynman.

I did notice that there was a recommendation for one of his light reading books on your diary before by Bongo called Surely You're Joking Mr Feynman - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Surely-Youre-Joking-Feynman-Adventures/dp/009917331X/ref=pd_sim_b_1

A few more great books by Mr Feynman that are definitely worth a read are

Six Easy Pieces - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Six-Easy-Pieces-Fundamentals-Explained/dp/0140276661/ref=pd_sim_b_4

No Ordinary Genius - http://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Ordinary-Genius-Sykes/dp/039331393X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1366061380&sr=1-1
It's hard to describe what he did as he did so much during his life.

From developing new mathematical techniques never before used to developing the atomic bomb to helping understand and explain the cause of the Challenger Space Shuttle disaster.

Where do Quarks, gluons, quasers, leptons, mesons, quartons, & even pentaquarks. come into this?

Mr Feyman won a Nobel Prize for his work on Quantum Electrodynamics

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_electrodynamics#Feynman.27s_view_of_quantum_electrodynamics

which was used for the basis of Quantum Chromodynamics

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_chromodynamics

that describes the interactions between quarks and gluons.

Thanks Aaron. Another one I had never heard of, but it seems he was a busy sort of chap.

I had better add him to my "Books to Buy List" when I next visit Foyles.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Feynman

Bumped to remind myself.

For the record.....

Staking Interest.

Ralph 5%

Aaron 5%

Doobs, amount to be agreed.

Fat Welsh Bloke 5%.

Reserved by PM (Liverpool fan...) 2.5%.

sharplea, 2%

I'm going to reserve 1% for Irene (TRIP5) too, as she had some the other night, & has not been paid her return from last year yet, as she asked me to look after it for her.

Thanks all, really appreciate it.

Oooh, Vegas...............

Morning Mr Kendall. I appear to be on the correct diary now...could I please make a small investment of 1% in your next Vegas Trip please? If so could you please pm your details as it seems a long time to me since the first one you may have changed them & I have probably lost them in any case.

I am well thank you for asking, not 100% yet but getting there & healthier and happier than I have been in a fair while, all is cool.

Suitably reminded by PM, & I consider myself chastised for not (as far as I can see) replying.

Yes, of course you can have 1%, tyvm.

I'm not 100% certain to be there, but fingers crossed & all that.

Will Update the list of proposed Investors seperately.

Supernova 1%.

Flushy wants to buy some of my action in any WSOP PLO8 Events, I play, too, (yes, incred! but true!) though he has not suggested how much yet. Think he suggested a meaty %.

Someone asked the question via PM, so I'll nail the rumour here & now - all action sold will be at spot, or "face value", there is nil mark-up.

The WSOP Events have the Reg Fee built into the Entry Fee, but at Binions, Nugget, Caesars & Venetian, it is added on top, seperately, I think. In those cases, I will absorb the Reg fee myself, which seems right & reasonable to me. After all, I get all the fun.

There is also the matter of the Thread that Cos started, for the Main Event, which included Red-Dog. I find that one a little awkward, embarassing, to discuss, or even broach. It may seem rude & ungrateful that I have not commented on that Thread, but I don't really know what to say.......

Good one!!

In an unusual twist the WSOP has decided to officially permit men in the Ladies Event on June 28. The only caveat is that they must pay $10,000 instead of the standard $1,000.

Nice to meet, good luck to your chaps still in tomorrow.

You too, very much so, Mr P Leonard.

This is going to be quite awkward to reply to, actually. I am not so good with delicate matters, & in one to one convo, I often come across not as intended, but.....

Meeting, & chatting, with you this weekend was quite a surprise, & shock.

I had already spent all day Friday with a very special friend, MereNovice. Everyone knows he is a special mate, we must have conversed via thousands of e-Mails & PM's over the years, here & next door, & via other platforms. And I had never met him. He turned out to be everything I expected, & hoped, but more so, he is much less grumpy in real life. It was a great thrill, really.

And then, 2nd on the list of highlights from the 2 days I spent at DTD, & ignoring work stuff, there was meeting you......and you were not at all what I expected.

More to follow......

I don't actually know what that means, but we can safely assume it is very witty.

Before I get to the serious bit about Mr Pleno, the very first thing that truck me was that......he is so short.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not shortist, not at all.

But we do form impressions of people from the way they come across in the written word.

And he definitely writes like a tall bloke. Everyone must have noticed that? But in real life he is, like, 4 foot tall.

Very surprising.

It was such a shock. If you have never met, say, Red Dog or Dylan, you would STILL guess that they were overly plump. AndrewT, he writes like a badly-dressed peep. Spot on, again.

But Pleno DEFINITELY writes like a tall bloke.

Let me tell you, he is a proper shortarse.

I think this is a good time for these men to stand up for those principles they believed in so much last year.  After all, these men were only entering last year on a matter of principle, so what better way to show that this was always about the principle than paying that extra fee.

Sending this off an a tangent.  As I am inexorably heading towards 50 now, I was thinking that one of the few (only?) upsides of 50 is that I would be qualified for the senior's event at the WSOP.  Given all the annual fuss around the men in the ladies event, until last year I hadn't really cottoned on to the fact there are quite a few young whippersnappers have been entering the senior's event.   It shouldn't have come as a surprise as I should have realised that old men weren't likely to make half as much fuss as women do.

So I could have played the senior's event all this time regardless of my age, other than the fact I'd still moan a lot less than your average woman?

It was good to see you on the weekend mate, also very nice to meet some other blondes, especially Vince as he does a lot of off forum work and has always helped me with some spreadsheet problems I have in work etc.

I hope that you stop dithering and book everything up as it would be great to abuse see you out there mate.

Morning Fat Bloke.

Great to see you at the weekend, & especially pleasing to see Vince who, as you say, has helped so many blondes in so many ways. He's a bit old & grumpy for my taste, but that apart, he is OK I suppose.

I was a little disappointed at the Latte count, you only got me ONE all weekend. Very poor effort.

Hope you enjoyed the weekend, anyway.

All joking apart, your weight loss really shows. Well done you. Did you see Tom (Red-Dog)? He's a right plumper these days.

PS - I've sent you two e-Mails today. Both abusive, obv.

Yes, I briefly saw Tom with his pasta salad, he refused a chocolate muffin would you believe

I have responded to your email sir, one latte indeed!

It means just because you're selling at 1.0 doesn't mean you're worth that much.

In other words, you might not be as good as average in these fields.

The Tim Westwood approach (he does/did gigs where the first 500/1000/whatever ladies get in for free)

Yeah, pretty much as expected. And probably correct.

Channing offered to buy some of my action at 0.4, & thought he was doing me a favour. Marv.

Anyway, go away, I've got to finish my reply to LilPleno.
