Just because I like simple fart jokes, don't assume I have hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.

Love that word.

Sesquippedaliophobia would do perfectly (sesquippedalian referring to it being a long word/many syllables), but some bright spark added hippopoto and monstro, just to highlight how big the word is.

Plutophobia is the fear of wealth. The origin comes from the Pluto, who was the Roman God of Wealth and phobia is Greek, meaning fear

I can't quite work out if the word is real or not.

The book in which I saw it is a sort of tongue-in-cheek expose of the murky world of financial engineering, "Traders Guns & Money - knowns & unknowns in the dazzling world of derivatives", by Satyajit Das, & a section on Risk Management notes.....

".....In this world there exists arithmophobia (the fear of numbers), chrematophobia (fear of money), plutophobia (fear of wealth), & phobophobia (fear of fear). Risk management is the sum of all these fears....."

I'm now inclined to the view that Mr Das might just have lifted my leg.

I can't believe this. Have you ever seen anything so contrived in your life? Dragon = draggin. Silly bastards.

After the song's initial success, speculation arose — as early as a 1964 article in Newsweek — that the song contained veiled references to smoking marijuana. The word "paper" in the name of Puff's human friend (Jackie Paper) was said to be a reference to rolling papers, and the word "dragon" was interpreted as "draggin'," i.e. inhaling smoke; similarly, the name "Puff" was alleged to be a reference to taking a "puff" on a joint. The supposition was claimed to be common knowledge in a letter by a member of the public to The New York Times in 1984.
