But I can still can still call it
Prog
for mildly comic effect, right?
Probably. I just don't know what that means, it whooshed me proper good.
A
prog
is what, exactly?
It was the movement of music between Psychedelic Rock and Punk Rock. Bands like Genesis, Deep Purple, Yes, Pink Floyd and Procul Harem; all capes, dry ice and forty minute drum solos.
Oh, I seeeee.
Well that was very much the golden age of music to me, but we called it
progressive
music.
I'm assuming, of course, you refer to the period after the man below (doubtless Karabiner will have idolised him) & the great Robbie Williams.

Why didn't he mix it in the wheelbarrow? Less work & no mess.
All these so-called concrete gurus are the same.

This stuff really should be in the "learning centre", not the main body of CMA board (concrete mix analysis).

Yes yes, correct, but we like to be inclusive here.

Funny how this thread leads me to learn stuff by accident.
I learn that Bunny Austin from off of black-and-white Wimbledon was the first man to wear shorts at the All England Club and was later ostricised for being a conscientious objector. What a thing that must have been.
Austin was friends with Charlie Chaplin, which reminded me of a story I heard about Chaplin going to America for the first time and sharing a quarters with Stanley Jefferson.

The very beauty of the internet.
I often go on "internet journeys", exactly as the one you describe, & learn so much, including just how ignorant I am.

Jimi Hendrix was fantastic, [FACT].
Just have a listen to Electric Ladyland if you don't believe me.
Is that pic from Woodstock?
I would have loved to have been there, I had the hair for it in those days.

Hendrix was not my cup of tea at all, Ralph. He's no Robbie, for sure.
Yup, that was Carlos Santana, doing his thing at Woodstock. Amazing he survived a life of debauchery for so long, all things considered, I think he is the same age as you. He lives in Las Vegas these days, & owns a bunch of Mexican Restaurants.

He missed completely, & I bet him off. With 6-4.

I laughed too! Little does tikay know it's akin to a "Best Of The Average" award!
But then again, our more recent notable alumni at Emma were hardly great role models.
During my time on the ECSU Exec we passed a motion (which has probably never been reversed) to rename the College Bar as the 'Parkinson-Yeo Bar' after Cecil Parkinson and Tim Yeo, both prominent Tory MPs who had fathered children out of wedlock from extra-marital affairs. The blurb of the motion was something along the lines of 'to remind all students of the benefits of safe sexual practice', or something like that!
I must also try to dig out the article about Emmanuel students that appeared in the News of the World at a similar time under the headline 'Swot No Bonking!', which I think my name got mentioned in. A mate of mine was threatened with libel action by the Senior Tutor for the quote attributed to him in the same article!
Happy days!

Oops, my minces must be on the blink.[FACT]
I adored Carlos Santana too, one of the very few guitarists that are instantly recognisable to the ear from virtually the first note that they play, so distinctive is his style. The albums Santana and Aberaxis were never far from my Lenco deck.
He seemed to disappear for about a decade or more then re-appeared with an absolute blockbuster of an album called Supernatural in 1999 which topped the album charts for ages and must have sold tens of millions of copies.

I really enjoyed all his stuff, especially his reseurgence stuff. Quite the dude. Wiki says that Supernatural sold 15 million copies in the USA alone.
He could twang a geetar, too.
Here's old & new Carlos.

Yes you schooled me, I have to admit. I also can't deny that you "pounded that table", if that means liberally dispersing your pounds to all corners of the table.
