It's still there. Things must have been built to last in those days. Smiley

Bloody hell, there are BMW's in the street now.

I often drive past, just for memory jogging sake, & was there last week as it happens. Quite posh now.

It used to be "Acton Garden Village Railway Association" housing.

As a railwayman, Dad got the place for subsidised rent, everyone on the Estate worked on the Railway, mostly at Old Oak Common Depot. (Shed Code 81a).

Some years later - I'd be mid-twenties by now - sitting tenants were offered the chance to buy the place for £5,000. It was worth 5 times that, minimum, but Dad was proper skinto, £5,000 was an unheard of sum. It'd be, I suppose, around 1970.

Anyway, I was doing alright, & gave him the £5,000, job done.

Time moved on, Dad died, & Step-Mum inherited the house. She eventually sold it for £400,000, & went to live near her son, (my half brother), Kenny.

Eventually she died of course, & left the lot to him, & nothing to my sister (real sister) & I.

She had been dead for 10 years before it struck me that I'd probably got the wrong end of that little coup, but it never bothered me, it had made Dad happy, & proud, that was the payback.

One way & another, some money has slipped through my hands. Such is life. When I've had money I've wasted it, so it made no odds I suppose.

Life moved on, & soon I was middle-aged, almost posh, did OK at work, Captain of the Golf Club, swish Beemer, my own little house, the real deal.

Met a lovely girl, Wendy, we were set for life. Or so I thought.

After 11 years, with me thinking we were set for life, she knocked on the door one Friday morning with a "Dear John" letter, gg me. Proper gold-digger stuff as it turned out, but it was worth it, I enjoyed the time very much.

I was devestated, I never saw it coming. While she's giving me the heave-ho - at that VERY moment - I get a 'phone call from Poker Europa asking me to write some articles, so that was the funny bone treatment, the Nurofen to cure the pain.

Went to Walsall for the £20 Rebuy that night, Dave C invited me to start blondepoker with him. Good timing Dave, got me bang to rights.

"Salary or a shareholding Tony?"

"Ooh, Shareholding Dave, we can make a bomb here".

5 years later, we were offered £750,000 for blonde, my cut was £187,500. Result, eh?

Tighty got all the Share Transfer Forms signed & collected, & the next morning I was due a Bank TX for £187,500. Take off, say, £40,000 to look after the Mods, & especially Tighty (who was due to collect zilch, nada), & some other debts of honour & thanks, & I'm left with nearly £150k netto.

At midnight the night before the deal was signed & money paid, the deal was cancelled. End of. Think I wrote in this Diary, as I did not want to allude to it in detail "a sholace broke today, bit annoying really". Gotta ride with the punches, that was the benefit of the difficult childhood.

I'm very Marmite with blonde, but on balance, it's been a good friend. Still costs me several K per year, & I don't know how much longer I want to, or can afford to, keep paying that. It's like a girlfriend, we have bad & good times I suppose. I'm increasingly intolerant to bad manners, rudeness, & unnecessary profanities though, especially of the "moron/retard/spaz" type. If they did but know. They have no right to abuse this place in that way. Hear me? No right.

There, that told 'em.

I did warn you I was in reflective mood today. Not done yet either, not by any means.

The below is a link to my next door neighbours youtube page. He was a logistics manager until his wife took very ill and he had to give up work to look after her. When she passed away we thought he may well drink himself to an early grave. Then he re-discovered his passion for things like trains and now he is a picture of health. He has a purpose and gets a great deal of enjpyment from life via filming things like these and meeting with people who share his hobby.

GREAT story James, love that.

People do the strangest things, or some think, but they are enjoying life, how can you knock that?

Read blonde on a Monday morning, or follow all the Online grinders doing their Sunday bollox, & you have to wonder who has got it right. "I fu**ing hate poker" & all that crap, it really does make me wonder why they play.

#lovethegame

And those bloody hashtag things, & checkboxes, wtf is that about?

And why do you look older then, than you do now.

That's not a compliment, it's a question.
