Of late, I keep seeing the expression, in poker, "pure bubble".

What is the difference between "pure bubble",  and "bubble"?

It's the same as centre and dead centre, dead and stone dead etc.

"bubble" is close to the "pure bubble" which is right on the number.

Bubble is bubble, surely.

Close to the bubble is exactly that......close to the bubble, surely?

If not, where do we draw the line. "I bubbled" could mean we missed the money by miles.

Often on say 'stars it pretty much is the bubble though. When there are 1000s of players you may be one of 30-40 players that goes out in the same round of hands, during which the bubble will burst. You may finish 20 off the money, but would of been itm if you folded/won the hand

I am simply explaining the rhetoric not arguing the point.

However if you would like me to bring in a specialist I'm sure i could find one.

I loathe agreeing with you Tom, and it bothers me that wily old Methuselah sees it differently, but your answer has to be correct.

Seems to me "pure bubble" is a 2+2 type expression which fashion dictates we use.

I refuse. Bubble boy me.

I might get very brave and ask one of the big boys. Bet they get pure mardy with me.

Yes, I see that, but 20 off the money is not the bubble and never was. 8,000+ play the WSOP Main, but there is only one bubble. But it sounds better when telling the tale of woe I suppose.

"How did you get on?"

"Pure bubble"

"Sick"

Did you ever watch Victor Borge Tom?

He made a living out of such word play. Wonderful pianist, but that was almost his sideline. Pure genius.

I often agree with you on these things tikay but the poker world is very different to how it is when you and I first ventured into it. The main difference is the size of the fields, as such the term bubble has changed, get over it.

Nooooooooooo

So how many bubbles per tourney can we have? 10? 100? 500? Think I've read of 20 players on blonde who pure bubbled this week, but not one regular bubbled.

Bring back the bubble and bubble bubble. And Tribeca, and Marathon bars.

Enjoy the golf in Spain next week. You live some life, you really do. Good luck to you, we only get one go.

Never had a meal with me?

That hurts Sad

Ill forgive you if you can remember where it was. Here's a clue,

What?

Breakfast is NOT a meal. Especially when it is by a window overlooking the Runway @ Gatters. Did you know that Gatters is the busiest SINGLE RUNWAY airport in Europe?

Course I remember.

I shall assume I am forgiven.

Note....

1) How happy you look when eating.

2) Were you trying to give up smoking at the time?

3) Note you tried to blag a seat next to me, upstairs, & got ejected. Lovely monent.

I suppose it is part of the ageing process (I've succeeded in ageing), but these old photos bring back so many happy memories for me. I could peruse my old photos all day. Every picture really does tell a story.

I hope things are as well as can be expected at home bud.

Ok, you're forgiven.

Aye, I knew about the runway at gatters, I actually got it the first time you told us at breakfast, I really don't think there was any need to say it a further 18 times before we finished eating!

No giving up smoking for me there, I was using a Nicorette thing to get me through the flight, a flight were you correctly said I got asked to leave from the posh section, I ran good to be fair, think I was there for nearly two hours before I got sussed. I still remember getting upstairs and telling the stewardess that I was up checking my grandad, to make sure he's ok, whilst pointing at you. She looked over to your seat, looked and me, then nodded her approval to go over. Smiley

Everything else is getting there thanks, almost sorted, had some great helps from friends, some that you would expect maybe, and some that you wouldn't. Strange how some people react so differently to others. I'll never understand it.
