Think you'll enjoy this. Deserted island in hand middle of NYC

Thats extraordinary, Ryan. You'd thonk it would be over-run with folks, even squatters.
I guess it has no utilities, 'leccy, drainage, etc.
One day it'll be worth millions.
Perhaps Branson should buy it, I doubt he craps, & if he does it don't stink. Queen-like, see? The Queen does not poo, you know. Royalty don't.
How did Luton GUKPT go?
Day 1 went really well. Think I only misplayed 1 hand in the day. Day 2 got off to a good start. Then bust losing a flip about 65th I think.
However was very, very angry with myself as during Day 2 I made 3 smallish bluffs, all of which were unsuccessful. Out of the 3 bluffs I think 2 were fine and I was really unlucky to run into what they had, and 1 of them was just awful. Don't make those bluffs then I'm not in 20bb territory and exit hand doesn't pan out like that.
Oh well.
Was the most fun 1k I've played ever. Hopefully that the management at Grosvenor use what the team at Luton did to generate such a buzz about the place. So much more fun than the UKIPTs and UK poker needs the GUKPT. Shame that you couldn't be there as I'm sure you woulda bumped into a lot of old friends.
Wasn't gonna go to Blackpool this year as its so far away but this week changed my mind so played an online sat and just binked my seat

The "remaining structures" I was referring to were these:
http://www.hiddenglasgow.com/rotundas/
You can see them on both sides of the river looking like domes. The rotundas were there to accomodate a hoist large enough to allow a cart and horses to be lowered to the tunnnel below, walked through and raised by hoist on the other side.
I had the eerie experience of walking through the damp and dark tunnel in the late 70s. Myself and two friends had gone to a railway depot in the hope of getting a summer painting job and decided to head back to universityland via very many pubs and the tunnel.

Yes, now I can see them, lower central, either side of the river.
Incredible they should have survived.

Amazing stuff
This is the small town (London commuter line Bedford down to St P, Brighton) where I live in 1931.I can pinpoint the location of my house. In the middle of a field.
Going to waste hours on that site now

Didn't like the look of the bananas in Morrisons either, seemed kinda brown.
Anyway I registered for a new dentist today and needed to have x-rays taken. The dental nurse carried out the process and pinned them up on the projector. She stood back in admiring fashion and actually said out loud "Aren't they good"...."Yes, very good". Then she kept gesturing and staring from different angles. Following that she called in two other dental nurses from reception to show them too, and all three were in agreement remarking just how excellent they were. Bursting with self-confidence by now I said "Thanks very much, my dad always had great teeth". They said "Oh no, it's Miss Richard's first day, we're talking about the quality of the x-rays, your teeth are terrible".

Hi, Tikay how are you? Are u playing Luton this week?gl if you are.
Hopefully see you at that sky poker tournament at dtd, will try a satellite for it
How's the sports betting going, have you won millions yet?
Morning Young Lady.
Fine thanks. Lots of plates spinning, & am dropping a few, & age is noticeably taking its toll - I get very grumpy once or twice a year these days - but all good really. I've actually had a very good week, work-wise, or I think I have. Will know for sure on Monday, but I think my pregnancy has been confirmed, if so, my baby will be due in around 4 months time. Exciting, eh?
Be great to see you next weekend, there are satellites every day, get yourself sorted. I'm reliably informed it will be a soft tournament ("full of donks & idiots" as one Pro described this Tourney last year), & we all know that Sky Poker is a soft site, which explains why millions of players play there every day. Easy money, see. What could possibly go wrong?
Sports Betting, Fred? Not exactly millions, no. About 4% ROI at present over a very reasonable sample size, so very acceptable really. Good fun, too!
How are you? And are you on terms with your beloved brother this week? I do hope so, life's too short, it really is. Se you next weekend, try & be there please.
Pregnancy lol? Not sure I get that, but glgl!
Would love to be there, as I think that tournament would suit me down to the ground, I didn't know it was as early as next week tho, so might be a problem, if not that one would really like to qualify for the ukipt 6 max which is being held there. I went to the 300 the other week there, no good I bluffed off my chips Again! when will I learn Tikay?! lol.
Spoke to my brother last week, as I got into a spot of bother so he kind of had to talk to me, but we haven't seen each other since, I don't think we will be close but at least it won't be awkward if we are to bump into each other, christ knows what he is doing, I've tried making him see gambling is not the way forward, but it goes in one ear out the other so nothing more I can do. I try not to cause any trouble anymore as the only person it seems to upset is me and my mum, I don't wish her to worry about me so tend to just keep quiet nowadays, which is pretty much a 1st on my part.
Take care, and if I can't get up to dtd next week, hope the tourney goes really well for you, hopefully catch up before xmas.

I was surfing a bit on Britain from above and came across this photo of Glasgow in its industrial heyday - the ships are queuing up to take stuff in and bring it out.
So I got the present from google - as far as I can see, there are only two structures remaining - can you spot them?

Cracking picture! The rotunda on the North side housed a casino for a while. Some of the docks are still there - think the old pic is looking downriver - you've showed from the rotunda and upriver from google maps. This pic captures some of the dock structure still there:

Yes think you are right Rod, but the small bit that is left is only at the top right of the picture - I think they were actually dry docks. The bulk of the docks with all the ships was fiilled in for the garden festival.

Aye, that makes sense.
They filled in a fair amount on the Yorkhill side too as I remember.
Google Earth still has them at work on the Hydro I see - quite an impressive structure, and there's a fair bit of hotel building going on for conferences, the Hydro will allow the SECC to be used completely for exhibitions/conferences so Glasgow needs 12,000 hotel rooms to meet the demand that will generate - worth a lot to the city as well. A change from unloading banana boats....

The Hydro is the 16,000 capacity concert venue that is the vaguely ufo shaped building in the pic.
SECC is the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (it's not visible in the pic - it's just behind the building that looks like part of the Sydney Opera House - that is the Clyde Auditorium - known in Glasgow as the Armadillo).

Ahh, I see.
Why Glasgow, & not Edinburgh, which is so much posher? Is Edinburgh full up?
Somehow don't see Glasgow as a cultural City, with concerts & stuff. Do they have Art galleries?
