Incred scenes.

We are starting with 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball.

8 players at the table, but only 6 of us are allowed to play!

So I have to sit out the first 2 hands.

Wee time, then.

Is 3 hands a record for the trip?

Ha, won the first hand I played. Awesome.

I had an eighty seven (get the lingo?) and villain (73 year old female) who had a tenty seven.

It's supposed to be about the value of your cards, not your age.

Very close......

Lost my next hand, had another eighty seven, the lady had an eighty seven as well, but hers was an eighty seventy fivey, mine was eighty seventy sixey.

Got the lingo proper sorted now.

Next round is Limit Hold Em, or I assume it is Limit.

Time for another wee.

Strange. When I played this last year, we were six handed throughout. Short of dealers/space? Surely not.

My table started with Limit Holdem, then went through the HORSE games and PLO, NLH and finally 2-7. Some tables did what I regard as the conventional 2-7 first (per 'Stars IIRC), so that caused a bit of confusion.

INVESTORS NOTE

Am going along ok in this (off stake) 8 Game affair, though it is only 2pm, but it includes NLH and PLO so plenty of scope to do the lot.

If I bust out, there is a $125 PLO8 @ Golden Nugget @ 5pm which I will play, as it is my favoured format.

Not sure what the Stake Arbiter thinks, but I think it ought to be on the stake.

Be a bit awkward if by some chance I cashed in it, and it was off stake.

Even for 5% investors it only comes to $6 (about £4) so it seems sensible, imo.

If I do play it, I will confirm before it starts.

Middle of Level 5, (30 minute levels) and we have just completed the first 8 game sequence.

Really interesting game, enjoyed them all except the two Hold Em rounds (Limit & NL) which seemed a bit flat after so many interesting variations, non-flop games etc.

Just made a horrific mistake in Triple Draw 2-7, and got unbelievably lucky.

Was dealt

K-Q-6-5-4.

I limped for 500, then a chap made it 1,000, and I called the extra 500.

The very instant I called, I realised this was an awful mistake, as it is very hard to improve without hitting a straight.

Cue running 2-7.

Mistake two, I kept betting and the geezer (been ultra tight so far) kept reraising. So I bottled the last street and we both checked.

He had an 8-7, but when I tabled my 7-6-5-4-2 there was much (and richly deserved) guffawing at why I had checked on the end.

Mistake three......our Pharmacist friend nilhwana (sp?) had just arrived and kindly offered me some help, as he has some experience of the game. So he saw the whole thing, and recoiled in horror at my incompetence.

Nothing makes a fool of someone like poker......

Yes.

Need to have a word with your bosses to change the caption under your name for the telly:

Sky Poker HOLDEM AND OMAHA Expert.

Fair play to you for owning up, though. Or was it Officer Nilawina that kept you honest?
