LOL @ pints of Baileys. That became our drink of choice on our second trip to Vegas, after about 3 days we kind of treated it as a meal.

At Star City they wouldn't serve us Baileys in a pint glass so a I think the order was about 30 doubles and two empty pint glasses please

The Radio5 Live coverage is sensational

Clare Balding, who lost her uncle last night, John Inverdale, Andrew Cotter...a team following each match down the fairways with raido sets on their backs

Reverential coverage, deferent, but so much less of the hype.

They do big events very very well

I do sound a bit hard to please this morning, but John Inverdale........something about his style & tone really grates. He seems, to me, to be the ideal sort of chap for ITV Sport, or Big Brother. He gets a few gigs, too, Olympics, RU, Tennis, Golf.

Think he interviewed some Royal a while back, his sychopancy nearly made me puke.

I don't much enjoy his work, but I do admire him, so I won't say a word against him, or think ill of him, anyone who can do so well with so little talent deserves their success.

Can't stand the man. He's a dreadful bore in the rugby. Always has to mention how t was like something he saw when playing the other day as if it has any relevance to the international game.

Also is loathed outside of England for this kind of thing.

Just wanted to share these photos. The other weekend was cycling along the Thames in London near to Millenium bridge and it happened to be low tide on a beautiful sunny day. I've always been interested in "treasure hunting" - think it ties in somehow with a gambling mindset. I was aware of mudlarking from sites like this http://www.thamesandfield.com/ so I went down to the foreshore to see what I could find. By the river you really get a strong feeling for the history of London and the realisation that the river has been used as a dumping ground as long as people have lived here. There are in particular huge numbers of broken clay pipes scattered here.
Unfortunately didn't find any Roman coins, but did find these in a short while:

These were clamped onto cloth by the makers either as a quality control symbol or to show that tax had been paid

(In the unlikely event that anyone reading this finds themselves on the shores of the Thames, you need to be very careful of the tides and strong currents it can be a very dangerous place)

Incredibly interesting the different ways we find of enjoying ourselves. I'd no more do that than watch reality TV, but ETTO.

I had no idea of "mudlarking", so I went to my trusted friend Mr google, & entered "mud sites".

First page that came up with this. I felt like an alien who had just landed on another planert. What on earth is this all about?

In USA right now a traditional golf course closes every 48hrs and the sport has lost 5m players in the last 10yrs. In this instant gratification society folk simply don't want all that traditional stuffy nonsense. Sure it might be nice and pleasant but the paying public simply don't want it. The video goes on to include a chat with my gaffer Erik Anderson about Topgolf. I can only imagine you will find the concept hideous but I have queues out the door every day. The video also features FootGolf which I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear I'm bringing into my traditional course next spring, would love to hear your opinions about that lol. What's nice and what's commercial are two different things, especially as far as golf goes. Just like Blonde, often you gotta swallow stuff you don't like in order to survive, develop and move with the times.

Interesting piece, and impossible to mount a realistic argument against.

Interesting piece but I am not that sure about the conclusions that they come to.  My house in Florida backs onto a golf course and it is fairly busy and there are probably three other courses within walking distance and that isn't that unusual here.  It just feels like there was a massive oversupply based on a fad and it is just that, like with poker, that demand was never going to be kept up.  I would be fairly surprised if there was a drop in demand from, say the early 80's, to now.  Top golf does look incred though!!

I never knew either, but I'm glad Posh Bloke mentioned him - I looked him up, & he really must be one of the greatest & most successful sportsmen ever.

Went to watch the Yankees in NY with Jared a few years back. Cant say I was entertained, but I did have my eyes opened to how there was a hell of a lot more to the sport than I expected (It's just rounders innit?). I always thought the catcher behind the batter was just some random dude but they are like the most important person on the team, like a captain. I dare say just like a yank would expect with cricket.

This is his last sport thingy, no idea what's going on but it looks fun
