The digital age means, if we are so inclined, that we can do THE most ridiculous things.
I fancy those wannabe Motorbike Amigos - Rod, Tom & old Booder - might try this on their little motorbike things. If Tom includes his ridiculous new "Top Box", that would probably add around 500 miles alone.

Probably not Patrick, though I'm sort of half tempted to play this Sunday's £300 Double Chance PLO, which would cost, I guess. £630 (or £660).
Even that is a bit rich for me at the moment really, but the only other PLO or PLO8 jobbies are either Turbo, which would not suit me, or way too rich - they have one @ £5,300, & one at £1,100.
Funnily enough, there is a nice, affordable, PLO thing at next week's Luton GUKPT, but I'm working that night.
Rather sad that the UKIPT/EPT clashes with the GUKPT, don't you think? It can't do either of them much good.
Anyway, I hope you run good.
I'll explain why I'm unlikely to play now, 2 main reasons.
More follows.....

I'm famously impatient, & perhaps a little spoilt, but when I enter a Live Tourney, I just want to poll up, pay my money, & sit down to play. At DTD I can ring Rob, or Simon, & just say "stick me in please" (I have cash on deposit there, from my UKPC Omaha), & that's it, job done. If I were playing at, say, Luton, I'd just ring Chomps & say "stick me in please".
Now look at how we enter the UKIPT or EPT London.
It's a bit complicated, so the nice people at PokerStars felt the need - wisely imo - to produce this flow chart.
Yes yes, I DO understand why, it's all about Licensing etc, but really, I am not sure if I cba to go through all this.

Honestly, I am really not sure I want to go through all that rigmarole.

I never even know about Gupta. I only ever read blonde so never really know about hem but growing up anybody who played in an GUKPT was a proper proper baller. I was so envious of them and I remember how excited I was to play a 200 side event.
So playing one would feel more special to me than a random side event at ukipt

Yup, at one time, the GUKPT was THE Live Tour.
It fell away a bit after Raaby left, but is enjoying something of a revival right now, which I'm pleased to see. I want ALL live Tours to flourish & prosper. And, obv, UKPC.
But, if I understand it correctly, next week's GUKPT Main, & the EPT main & Sideys, clash.

My other reason for probably swerving that £330 PLO Double Chance is a bit more deep-rooted.
As you may know, I had a bad run in Vegas this year, my first losing trip for 5 years. Pretty sure that variance just caught up with me, but maybe I've lost my touch.
I play smallball PLO8 Online most nights, Next Door. I did a challenge to turn £200 into £1,200, for a clear £1,000 profit, just playing £3, £5 & £10 PLO8 DYM's. (SNG's).
It took me about 7 months, & my £200 was then £1,450, so I averaged a profit of about £175 per month, though that includes about £50 per month in "Reward Points" (call it rakeback if you prefer).
So, just before I headed off to Vegas, I was £1,250 ahead, from my original £200.
Since I returned from Vegas, I can't make any progress, I have just trod water.
In fact, in September, when I put in a lot of volume (maybe 35 games per night on average, & 800 games in total), I actually LOST money - my first losing month since I began playing these things, & the "Challenge". That hurt - not financially, but to my ego, I suppose.
Variance? Maybe. But PLO8 DYM's are very low variance, & 800 games is a tidy sample size. In fact, I reckon I've played the last 2,000 games at "break even", whereas before, I was tucking away £200 every month.
So, I'm starting to doubt myself, & my ability. I can handle downswings, obv, & it is not costing me "hard cash spending money" as I have never withdrawn any of the winnings.
It just makes me wonder if I have started to "lose it".
I have a very fragile self-confidence, but at my age, you do these little "am I developing dementia or somesuch?" tests all the time. Trust me, you do. (Just ask Ralph, or Booder).
So there you go. For once, a little poker in the Diary. Worry not, concrete & the like will be back soon.

I haven't played a game of poker for two months due to confidence crises.
I keep forgetting to do the dementia checks.

Claims that Tom Watson ridiculed European players and insulted his own
http://espn.go.com/golf/rydercup14/story/_/id/11636089/captain-tom-watson-ripped-us-team-ryder-cup-meeting-angering-phil-mickelson
Not sure I buy all that, Rich.
For example......
Soon after, Watson was presented a gift by Furyk, a replica of the Ryder Cup trophy that was signed by every member of the team. Instead of thanking them, the sources said Watson said the gift meant nothing to him if the players didn't get the real Ryder Cup on Sunday and that he wanted to be holding it aloft on the green in victory.
Said one of the sources: "That's almost verbatim. He said it basically means nothing to me.''
That sounds a bit embellished to me, changing the meaning of Watson's words which wrere probably designed to be motivational.
Amazing how they all fell out after they got their arses spanked & blamed the Non-Playing Captain.
Man for man, the USA team were probably better golfers, certainly better ranked, but they failed to perform. So it's the Captain's fault.
I'm not having that. Anyway, I love Tom Watson, can't have my man accused of being the bad guy, few of those guys can hold a candle to Sir Tom. For starters, Tom was always the most gracious of losers. His Team would do well to take note.
The good thing about being as popular as Phil the thrill is when you need a favourable news report it's easy to get one coz most weeks you are giving the news guys quotes and opinions for free.
How is Philadelphia, Phil?
Are you there to take in a few NFL games, the annual trip thing?

I think the season 1 tv coverage helped create a big aura around the gukpt. Raaby certainly did run a very tight ship too, good lad.
First time I ever met Barry Neville was at the gukpt, he called my wife a prostitute within the first minute of meeting us. Happy times.

Is this the right plac for this?
That's really good Doobs.
I visited Skye recently, loved the place, but never saw that mountain thing.
The mountains are on the west side of the island. I went on a youth hostels rock climbing course there when I was about 15. Train, then ferry, then bus, then 5 mile walk over a pass to a one track road where a kind soul gave me a lift the rest of the way.
Ahh, I missed the west coast of Skye.
I drove right up to Uig on Boxing Day, in torrential rain, it was wonderful,. never saw another car (nobody that daft I guess) for 3 hours.
The Ferry was just coming into Port, but had to anchor outside, as the sea was too rough. I plan to go on that ferry one day, it goes to the Isle of Lewis (& Harris?), & to North Uist. Doubt there is much to see there, but it just feels like an adventure I'd love to do.
The drive was lovely, right round the A87 "loop", via Portree, & then right on up to Uig & across to Staffin.
I was staying in a cottage, at a litttle place called Ratagan, on the banks of Loch Duich, across the Loch from Eilean Donan Castle. It was a 20 minute drive, around the Lock & up to Kyle of Lochalsh, from the new Skye Bridge.
Here's the cottage, just looking at it makes me want to go back.

Yes, Mr Neville, ever the wordsmith.
Raaby is much missed. I know it was his job, but he had real passion. One of the few in poker who actually helped poker be better. Not too many can say that. Think he's still doing that Eureka Tour?
Pretty sure it was JFK who first said

I don't have any problem with Suzi Perry in a bikini. Pretty, yes, but it does not open my landing gear.

It does not trouble me in the slightest that Suzi & Eddie often seem a little too "close" to each other either.
