A lot of people didn't see the big picture, what it was about and what it was trying to achieve.
Pleno, you might have been in this one :-)
On the contrary bud, I don't think you saw the big picture.

Tikay pls tell somebody to fuck off
, would be pretty funny. It's just a couple of words and I think you would find it rather liberating. Happy for you to tell me to fuck off if it makes it easier.
I've tried, many a time, but I just can't pull the trigger.
It comes across so badly in writing, unless it is from someone really common.

That saying is wrong as often as it's right. It should be changed to:
I before E except when it isn't.
Well it's not an exact science...

1-0.
But that's the SPOKEN word, not the written word. They are completely different.
Unless, of course, your name is Giles Coren. For him, it's fine, & on the off-chance that Vicky rejects me, I shall propose to Giles one day.
When I feel a bit under it, I always go have a read of this magnificence.

Which, of course, allows me the opportunity to post Vicky's take on it all, with a typically Coren-esque twist in the tail.

Poker really is blessed to have Vicky in it's midst.

This is even better, and even shorter. No swearing though.

So we've gone from swearing, to fiction, to poetry.
The Diary is doomed.
Does nobody crave writings on the comparative merits of concrete v Armco crash barriers on our Motorway system?

Lol just read this in that book The Final Over.
The spoken word as written by George Bernard Shaw
"A further hint that the old world was on it's way out and a new one on it's way in came on 11 April 1914, when George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion opened to a stormy reception at His Majesty's Theatre, London. For days beforehand, the newspapers speculated feverishly on whether or not the show's leading lady Stella Campbell would dare utter the line "Not bloody likely", as written for her by Shaw. In general the press were simultaneously shocked and thrilled by the prospect. When Campbell did announce the 'incarnadine adverb' the audience laughed for a full ninety seconds. Appalled by the shallow response, Shaw stormed off"
Oh and yep, great posts Alun.

No problems. One more in a similar theme. I realise he's a bit like the Monet of poetry since Four Weddings, but you really can't beat a bit of Auden. I think this is absolute genius and fairly confident you will think so too. The last stanza never fails to get me.

Talking of weirdos. Whatever happened to Davood Mermand?
http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=2113
He was one strange cat.
Just a bit.
We were playing on the top floor of The Merrion one day, & Thomas Kremser was the TD.
Davood, as per, got arsey about some minor irrelevance. Think they were colouring up the 25's, & he thought the Button was in the wrong place, so he lost out on a single 100 chip. The average stack at the time was about 43,000.
He whined on & on in that squeaky voice of his, & eventually, after refusing to calm down, was ejected from the Tourney.
We were on the 5th floor, & for the next 2 hours, we could hear him, in the strreet outside, shouting at the top of his voice, "let me in, the button was in the wrong place, this is so unfair".
That place - The Merrion - scared the living daylights out of me in truth, there were no Fire Escapes, & if the place went up in flames (we could all smoke indoors at the time) we'd have all been toast.
Loved the atmo though, & the Omaha Cash Games were absurd.
At The Vic one night, he was getting on everyone's tits, as per. During the break, he left his i-pod on the table, so some wag - think it was Woodley - swapped it with someone else's identical looking i-Pod.
There were murders when he returned & stuck his i-Pod on, whilst we all sat there straight-faced.
He got himself some good results over the years, mind.
