If you have received an e-Mail from me this morning from my personal (i.e., not work) e-Mail address.....

1) Apologies. Ignore it.

2) Please be assured I am not stranded in Turkey, & have not asked you to send me money.

Snoopy & Kara Scott have alreasy received these e-mails.

I could kick myself, I walked into it I think.

I got a note this morning saying I had to "verify" my Account, & it appeared to come from Yahoo!, so I did so. Big mistake, it seems.

FFS, what is it with everyone these days loving the chance to cause aggro?

Bollox. I've  sent you a monkey in US dollars, 1000 cigs and 2 of those specialist magazines you asked for. Couldn't get you the train mag as was a bit embarrassed to ask for it but did get the December editions of Cockring and Big n bouncy. If this is a reverse con I hope the weather is nice and the food is good.

Marv.

I've still not managed to recover my e-Mail address, the buggers have stolen it.

It's a nightmare trying to sort it out, too.

So I can't get access to my own e-mails from others, & I dread to think the pain that is piling up in my absence.

I'm not too sure Tony, but I think this book might tick a few of your reading matter criteria boxes. I've read everything ever written by Brian Plummer, and I once had a merle lurcher from his strain. (See 'Merle, The Start of a Dynasty')

Thank you Thomas, you might just be right.

Just those opening lines fom Chapter 1 were enough to convince me. We don't really own dogs, do we?

sure i remember reading that you enjoy watching programmes about the london crime scene in the 1960s.

london live ,(channel 8 on freeview),is showing a 1 hour programme about "the richardsons" at ten pm.

Thank you.

I had already seen it actually, but I watched it again.

Charles Richardson was not quite the loathesome "torturer" he was made out to be, though he was definitely a wrong 'un. Mad Frankie was on his team, too, another very likeable rogue.

For reasons never really explained, Charles Richardson fell out badly with his brother, Eddie, & I don't think they ever spoke sgain during th 40 years or so before Charlie eventually passed away. A few stories went to the grave with him, I fancy.

They were good boys, they were, never in trouble, looked after their Mum......

On Lurchers (I'm liking the turn the Diary's taken) - I was shocked at a mate telling me on Sunday he'd bought a lurcher for £800 - went to the Midlands to collect it, kept it trained it & after 1 hunt offered it to anyone who wanted it free, had someone from Yorkshire travel up to get it.

The fault, it barked when chasing a hare.

Is that such a sin Red?

Just looked up Rogues & Running Dogs on Amazon - going for £30 to £271.08 (£2.80 delivery)...

Yapping is a very bad trait in a coursing dog Rod. It scares away all the other game, gets the other dogs over excited and alerts the farmers & gamekeepers to your presence.

Aye, I can see that - I gather it's not something that can be trained out of a dog. I'm glad he didn't tell me he was getting rid of it, I am a big fan of lurchers (this had a fair bit of saluki in it), but really couldn't keep a dog in the flat.

FWIW i did a list this year and was umming and ahhing about doing another one. Woke up on the 1st, decided it was too much hassle after the last two were torpedoed

A lot of people didn't see the big picture, what it was about and what it was trying to achieve.

Pleno, you might have been in this one :-)

On the contrary bud, I don't think you saw the big picture.

RED-DOG don't hold ur breath for Keith, the dude is an elite class flouncer!

Tikay pls tell somebody to fuck off, would be pretty funny. It's just a couple of words and I think you would find it rather liberating. Happy for you to tell me to fuck off if it makes it easier.

I've tried, many a time, but I just can't pull the trigger.

It comes across so badly in writing, unless it is from someone really common.

If you decided to just go for it and then turn t'internet off for 2 days to cool down what would you get off your chest?

I've just learned of the sad death of Ernie Terrell. He was famously beaten by Ali in 1967 after accidentally (he says) calling him "Cassius" in the press conference.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/11301820/Ernie-Terrell-obituary.html

He had a lovely voice and sang with his backing group, The Heavyweights:

This is how he called out Ali, by the way...

Class. RIP.

So we've gone from swearing, to fiction, to poetry.

The Diary is doomed.

Does nobody crave writings on the comparative merits of concrete v Armco crash barriers on our Motorway system?

Will take you up on this Tuesday(No racing)

Great stuff Barry, thank you. It's that time of the year all the sites put up "Best of" Galleries, which I love.

I could stare at photos for ages, & often do.

In that photo, it says so much about how society has changed since the internet began, &, latterly, "SmartPhones".

I don't travel much in London these days, but it's quite something too see such a large % of people walking along, staring at their 'phones, as the content can't wait - presumably - until they arrive.

On trains, it used to be that most of us read newspapers & books, or did the Crossword. Now everyone is busy scrolling on their dog. Same thing, I suppose.

I'm as guilty as most, but I'm trying to crack the addiction.

Go play poker, & there we are, all sat staring at our i-Pads or whatever.

Back in the day, Axeman used to sit there doing his crossword, Steve Jelenik with a book, I even saw a lady at one table doing her knitting, which is how I learned to knit. That's knit, not nit.

Over under through round, that's "pearl", see?

Back in the day, just before smartphones, I saw a young lad doing a rubix cube super fast while playing at an EPT.

Regarding tech addiction I have taken some quite strict measures to curb my own tendencies. I have a 'no technology an hour before bed' rule which I usually stick to (reading my kindle doesnt count as tech as it looks and feels like a book). Also have a 'dont check email before 10am' rule so that I can get my most important task of the day done before I get distracted.

I've also disabled email and safari from my phone so that I cant habitually check email whenever I want to fill a 30 second silence.

Got a few programmes on my computer which disables Facebook etc at certain times so I cant check it when Im working.
