Played against him last year in a daily tournament at the stratosphere. Clearly not in a good place. Was 'distracted' pretty much all the time, really affected his game and was giving chips away non stop.

He's almost as old as Tikay, so to be expected  scared

Interesting wiki page, and he's definitely gotten a fair bit done in his life.

He seemed a little better mentally this year, & less distracted, but physically, not so good.

Fair to say, & not to be rude, but he's not blessed with good looks, few of us are. But if you go onto 2+2, & many other sites, there are endless threads about his looks, & "imagine what his children would look like?" sort of comments from anon keyboard warriors. These people are a disgrace to society, belittling people for their looks or ailments. The man is a genius, albeit a much troubled one, & I'm not sure any of us have the right to be so crass & heartless.

They would never say it to his face though. Ever.

Oh dear.

The day I became an assorted oldie. Official.

Oops, I managed to upset half of blonde in a single sentence. Proper jackpot, that.

He really was quite a name & face back in the day. I'm sure the kids would eat him alive these days, but I still respect these guys - in relative terms, they were decent players at the time.

I have no idea who he is.

The Mount Charleston Wilderness Area is also home to around 18,000 acres (7,300 ha) of Bristlecone pine and is the largest collection of these trees in the Intermountain Region of the United States

Some of the bristlecones are thousands of years old.  Imagine! A living thing older than Ralph!

Every moment, Fraser, every single moment so far.

We have a very small return, yes, we've spent $840 I think, and got $445 back. Way too early to draw any conclusions, but two tourneys, 2 deep runs, and the most important thing is I have not felt out of my depth, or played scared.

See you soon.

Last I saw, Thewy was plodding along in the MillyMaker thing, too.

I think you do........

More will follow later on Mt C wildlife, including news on a species of animal that is unique to the area, which I was able to see. Annoyingly, I had forgotten to take my camera. Marv. Fortunately for all, I remembered the camera for the Pacific Adventure, and I have scores of Amtrak photos.

In my defence, I do however have a well-worn copy of Paul Magriel's "Backgammon", considered by most to be the bible of the game in it's time, and I was a very young lad when I acquired it.

I'm pretty sure that makes him older than me and slightly younger than Tikay.

Coming off interstate down lv blvd you toutn onto ogden and left onto casino center? Next to binins down there past the nugget valet and theparking gagrage is on the next right with one last right turn into the rush tower entrance. Hope thats not too confusing!

The "foolproof" route is come of the I-15 and stay in the very right hand lane, turn right at the first lights.  That puts you on Main Street, pootle up along there just past the plaza and turn left into the GN Rush Tower.  When busy they may turn you away, (or sometimes the light is a bit poor and they can mistake a $5 for a Rush Tower room key...) but if turned away, directly opposite back into the Plaza valet parking gets the job done.

Parking in some of the other structures downtown is not a particularly enjoyable experience.

Good luck today , keep the good form going.

Thanks David.

Am going to swerve today, it was always likely to be today OR tomorrow, & tomorrow kinda works better.

Explanation on way shortly.

Cliffs - am off the back of, maybe, the most wonderful 4 days I can remember in many a year, if not ever, so today is rest up day. I'll try & do some Updates from Events 1 & 2 for my intrepid stakers first.

Then, Heaven forbid, I took hundreds of photos on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, & I'm going to post a few. Other folks holiday snaps are about as interesting as Stars Hand Histories, or bad beat stories, I know that, but they mean the world to me, so you'll just have to look away.

I'll play @ Golden Nugget tomorrow ($240 PLO8 I think), then Tuesday will be the last day of my non-poker "holiday", & I'll start the poker schedule proper on Wednesday.

What camera do you have these days tikay?

Since I've been away from Blonde for so long the last time you mentioned cameras I'm sure you were thinking of getting a DSLR but I always found a good Compact Super Zoom does everything I need.

Look forward to seeing some photos from you.  I'd definitely prefer to see holiday photos over hand-histories.

No no, I have my camera with me, but Jeeves omitted to place it in my hamper when I went up to Mt C on Tuesday.

Unforgiveable, really. Luckily I had the same meal again this evening, & got a photo this time.

Thanks very much Simon, & the other Simon, too.

I don't like to complain about anything in Vegas, & Downtown is what it is, it's decrepit nature is part of what makes Downtown so charismatic, but my oh my, parking in that Binions Car Park is a seriously scary affair. They don't build car parks like that any more, praise be.
