On Sunday night, I had occasion to withdraw £200 in cash from the ATM up the road from me. No problem.

Yesterday, I received a text from my Bank - NatWest - informing me that.....

"We are aware that you had an issue withdrawing from our ATM & a refund has been applied to your Account".

So I log in to my Online Banking, & it shows.....

The £200 I withdrew has been correctly taken from my Account.

NatWest have now refunded me the £200.


So, what would you do now?

PS - the chap in the photo is not me.

I'd go and withdraw another £200 from the same ATM and hope for the same result.

What's with all this podcast bollox?

Listen, this morning, at Kings Cross, on my way up to Leeds, I saw this - THIS EXACT - Diesel Loco.

It was hauling a West Coast Railway Charter Train. Beautiful - beautiful - rolling stock, with slam-door carriages & compartments.

"compartment" carriages were the best thing ever.

I'd rather ride in a compartment carriage in a Diesel Hauled Charter than any podcast bollox, ever.

Podcasts are great, Tikay.

You can plop them on your ippy, and listen away while you're out bimbling, or pop them on when you're pottering around the house.

Ideal for when you're at the allotment, too

How can I put a podcast on my Ippy - there are no slots as far as I know?

No comment on that magnificent Diesel, then?

PS - What is "bimbling"?

You can download them through itunes, and then just sync them to your iPhone/Pad.

The only train I was interested in as a kid, was Thomas 

Always thought that 'bimbling' was another word for a stroll?

Don't know my I-Tunes password, & then you say I have to "sync" them. Might have to pass on that, but thanks anyway.

Can't say I've ever heard the expression "bimbling" to mean having a leisurely walk.

Had something of a surprise yesterday, having seen that glorious old Type 33 Diesel-hauled Charter Train at Kings Cross in the morning. 

The London Leeds service is operated by Virgin, using electric traction in those modern "plastic" carriages. Very smooth, but hardly enough to set the pulses roiling.

The return journey, due to some malfunction, was operated by an iconic Class 43 set, with slam-door stock, which was quite the blast from the past. Really quite a thrill, though I had forgotten how bumpy & noisy the ride on these things was.

We must savour these relics, they won't be around much longer. Amazing to think they have been giving good, largely reliable service for over 40 years, so they begun life before the Internet (as we know it) or mobile phones arrived, & are still going strong.

Can't help with the train, but the ippy is simple enough to solve. Do you just use it purely to browse etc?

Syncing just means plugging the iPad into your PC, and clicking a button to sync the 2. Easy

Marky be careful the last person who showed an interest in TK's technology became his tech guru for a long time.
The fact you don't have access to a fish and chip shop, or look as fine in a short tartan skirt may count against you though, if you are after the job.

Bimbling is like bumbling just with less dignity.

1. What is the mark-up? Anything above 1.2 and I will feel rolled over.
2. How would you fare with Steve Sung on your left for 8 hours?
3. How badly is your game going to be affected when playing for the big money?
4. Planning any late night benders?

The £200 that NatWest refunded to me in error.

I decided to ring them, to sort it out. I don't expect them to diddle me, & I don't have any wish to diddle them. Also, in these spots, the money is never quite ours - there is always the niggling thought that they may claim it back at some point, & Sod's Law being what it is, it would have been when least expected, or when, perhaps, I could ill-afford it.

A lot of "press this for that" went off when I rung them, but I eventually got through to a warm, friendly advisor at NatWest.

Some surprise was expressed - "this is not really possible" sort of thing. After some toing & froing, they established I had received the £200 from the ATM, because I said so, & they had therefore refunded me in error.

The outcome?

They said I could keep the additional £200. My oh my, that felt rather nice. 

They also said that if I felt uncomfy with this, I could.....

Visit a Branch of NatWest

Fill in a complaint form. (?)

Fill in a "Consent" (to remove cash from my account) Form.

Wait 2 weeks.


Decided to pass on all that palaver, obviously, so that was a nice little bit of bunce.
