Not a typo that, 8-5. I gave him some friendly advice - try & play two cards that are the same. Like, you know, 10-10, that sort of thing.

As it happens, he won the hand with a straight. Outrageous play, really.

Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to 2 good friends of mine who both had a bit of a result in Vegas yesterday, even though neither are likely to read this.

In the $565 WSOP PLO;

14th - Joe Beevers, $11,754

13th - Adam Owen - $11,754


Well done chaps, keep it up.

Joe's exit hand was A-A-4-6 v K-K-5-9.  OK, it's PLO, these things happen, but that was a great spot to garner a stack to go on & win the thing.

I'll be playing Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday though, starting with a $600 PLO8 @ Venetian on Sunday which starts at the odd time of 5.05pm.

What's that in UK time ?

+ eight hours I believe, so 1.05am

Looking forward to at least ten pages of squeezeage with my coffee tomorrow morning.

I wish, 10 pages would suggest making Day 2. Still, stranger things have happened.

The structure tonight is near identical to the Binions one, in fact the blind increments are identical up to Level 10. However, the Levels tonight are 40 minutes (Binions was 30), & the starting stack is 15,000 (Binions was 30,000). 

On balance, quite a bit "faster" I think, but it's the same for everyone, so no worries really.

I was hoping to write Part 2 of the West Coast Adventure Trip Report today, but time has beaten me again, so those fascinating tales of carpets and light rail systems will have to wait another day.  It's 1pm now, & the Venetian PLO8 starts at 5pm, and I plan to set off at 4pm so I have time to park the car, get me a Starby, buy-in etc without getting all flustered and het up. And before that I need a 2 hour power nap, obv.

High Wind Warning in Nevada

* TIMING...Winds will steadily increase through late afternoon
peaking in intensity during the late afternoon and evening
hours. Winds will start to subside early Monday morning.

* WINDS...Southwest 30 to 40 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph. Gusts
in excess of 60 mph possible in the higher terrain and across
far western Las Vegas Valley in communities adjacent to Blue
Diamond Ridge and the Spring Mountains.

* IMPACTS...A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind
event is expected. Strong winds can make driving dangerous...
rapidly reduce visibility in dust prone areas and lead to
property damage.
