I do miss the old pounds, shillings & pence. Saw this today on Danny Baker's Twitter;
Last echoes of a vanishing way of speech. Talking of a record he should have bought, friend of mine just said,
"Bloke on the stall wanted 4 and 6 for it but I only had 3 and 8 and he wouldn't budge."
Folks under 30 would have no idea what that meant.
Don't flatter yourself. My 40yos don't know what it means.
They can't work out why he needs an extra 10 pence to make 3 and 8 into 4 and 6.
Red, I'm 51 & don't know how to work out old money. I know what it is & recognise the notation, but couldn't do sums with them.
My Mum taught my niece to do old currency calculations during lockdown as the wee one was bored with the online maths her teacher was giving her. So there is a 13-year-old in Ireland can do them

Are you 51 Rod? Jeebus Price, I can't believe it.
Welcome to official oldfartdom. You must now start making nostalgic, "back in the day" posts, getting angry about stuff that doesn't matter and emotional about stuff that you've just realised does matter.
It's the law.

Rod may enjoy this. Drone-mounted cameras really do allow quite extraordinary footage.

Thruppenny bits
Plenty of those still in circulation to marvel at.
Ha, I wondered who'd be in first with that. I had Marky as 1/3 favourite.
Been busy, or you'd have been weighed in

Some great flying there. Impressive. CAn't say I fancy going to the races in a big air terminal though, far prefer Hexham or Hamilton or the prettiest racecourse I've been at, Sligo.

Is that flying all controlled by some bloke with a sort of X-Box controller thingie? Amazing.
Agree as to that Ascot grandstand though, looks exactly like a posh airport terminal.

That Ascot Grandstand is always going to look a bit grim when empty. I did get invited to eat there in the days that Betfair valued my custom. It was very impressive and the food was top notch. I couldn't fault the place really, but they have an annoying dress code, and the place has a high proportion of people I wouldn't want to spend much time with. These days spending time with anybody has some novelty value though.
I can't say I prefer big tracks or small tracks though. Cheltenham can be too much in the Festival, but it is always an exciting place to be. I used to love Chester 30 years ago, but it has changed a lot. I used to be a member at Sandown and loved the place too.

Probably not there as to fly through the building he'd have lost sight of it. Pilot would be using a Drone's View headset, so seeing things as if they were flying the drone.
The actual controller will have 2 joysticks and a few buttons, but sometimes for filming there is a camera operator as well as a pilot.

Was that Mick McC's dry-run?

This photo was taken at the Test match in Edgbaston yesterday. Is that Keith Johnson lower right?

The scenes at Edgbaston yesterday really cheered me up. The first real signs that normal's coming home. Loved it.

Next to Statto, so I'd say yes

Me either. That must be the lesser-spotted Statto.
