Never go to Vegas without some quality reading matter.

This book by Simon Jordan is superb. Not sure I'd have ever wanted to work for him, he's completely unreasonable, but in a weird way I admired him very much.

Made £80 milly from his mobile 'phone business, lost the lot by investing it in Crystal Palace.

No self-pity though, & he does not mince his words on how the football industry operates.

Really enjoyable read.

This was next, a complete change of pace & mood.

I may actually have read it before but it was well worth a re-visit.

Mr Bryson writes about as well as anyone imo, & his range of adjectives in particular is unrivalled.

Highly recommended.

I'm back to full fitness now thanks Tony - 18 holes next time out in the Thursday Stableford is the plan (weather permitting).

Just caught up with this thread. Had plenty of time-playing 1 of i-pokers EXL series, and I think the re-entry period was the month of May Smiley

2 quick comments about things you have mentioned recently:-

1. The parking 1. Obviously this is not legal advice (I have to say that-don't want the SRA after me). The first thing to say is that is is £40. Yes, you can fight these things-but it is going to cost you a lot more in aggro. Suspect the best solution is just to pay. However, if you want to argue, it is easier than it used to be. Simply because there are so many more records than there used to be. So (for example) assuming you paid by card there will be digital records. Similarly, wherever you went afterwards there may be digital records or someone's door cam footage.

2. Sorry that your time at Sky ended the way it did. The site sometimes lacks class. Which is a shame, as it has some wonderful people on it. But move past it-much better to remember the many good times there. Tonight the Main needed 125 entries to break even. It got 79...

Good luck in Vegas

Hi Phil,

I completely missed "Part 2" but am just off out so will reply later or tomorrow.

Elliott. Buddy Guy? I'd travel a very long way to see him. Need to do it soon though, he must be nearing 90. Someone suggested I go see The Pixies in Vegas. I gave them a listen & they were surprisingly good considering they have such a naff name.

His next gig is 6th June. Don't know if any of them fit in with your visit.. the full list is on this page https://www.buddyguy.net/

Much as I'd love to see Buddy Guy "live", they all seem a little too distant.

Shame but I understand.      He's still FULL of beans.   I saw him in Leicester but can't remember what year. Early two thousands I think.
Sent you a couple of EC bootleg videos to enjoy at your leisure, but did it via Discord DM. Recent tour stuff.
Keep enjoying your time off and catch ya later.

In answer to the hips, I had my right one done first and it all went well. The first left hip was contaminated with bacteria when it went in and when it was replaced the first time and all washed out they didn't manage to get all the bugs out so we try with this one which has antibiotic cement/concrete in it and we will see how we go. I might need another but hopefully not.

My surgeon had to split my femur lengthways to try to get the inside of the bone washed out as much as possible. It's all held together with screws and military grade ties, the op took 6 hours as he got the saw/whatever they use stuck. Only me huh!

Ashley Walters has just released his autobiography. As reading lists go it should be Top. Boy it’s good.

Wishing you a happy retirement and an enjoyable Vegas trip.

This new WSOP+ app is great this year
Seen so much smoother things but obviously with the odd kink here or there.
My favourite snooth today had to be when they picked up the next big blind to start a new table, I was utg and next big blind (after they moved the other guy) but the new entrant had already got a seat and sat into the big blind before the next hand in under a minute, amazing stuff.  Computer at the table makes everything known instantly, no seat cards , just look at your app for your new table seat when you get moved or the table breaks .

They also make the dealers do a rough count even on day 1s first break and update the chip stack every break on the app.
So anyone can download the app and watch any break updates of stacks, from my point of view I love hunting out tikay and doobs by searching their name and getting table info then rushing over to wish them good luck in between hands .

So first break today (start stack 25k) we had :
Tikay the boss - 60k
Doobs - 25k ( ha they obv didn’t do his table as I know he had 37k  )
Myself - 25k ( I actually did have 24,900 - they round up as it’s a rough count )
Rutter - 21k

There’s still no fee to buy in with a debit card or credit card too ( saving me $45 per 1500 ) , long may that stay.

One other thing of note for anyone coming out this year, the new French place in Paris (where the old crepe place was) is excellent .  I’ve had a savoury crepe and rotisserie chicken so far and both were excellent ( and you can use your comps , which there’s more of if playing cash this year as it’s all auto tracked into the system when you sit at a table )

And last thing for time being , my dry day failed today at 5pm , I guess not too bad by my standards .
