Here's how it's gonna run today.
264 left (20 of whom have 20k or less) & 186 paid. So I can't stall into the money.
One rotation of each game (3 x 8 handed Orbits) will cost me around 20,000 of my 61,500.
If I've not found a spot by then, I have to find a spot. Won't be a Limit orbit as you can only raise in 1 Bet increments, so Big O or PLO8, preferably Big O. Any Big O hand that has an Ace, a bit of paint & some wheel cards will have to suffice. Equities run super-close in Big O so even against Aces you are neve a huge dog, 40/60 at worst for the most part.
There'll be no calling. It's bet or fold.
I'll be well disappointed if I fail to cash, mainly because I know I messed up in the last 45 minutes last night.
And if it all goes wrong, so be it, off to Orleans for the $240 Omaha Mix at 4pm

sounds like if you went for it last night instead of calling , you could well be busto now wishing you had not gone nuts , and still had something to come back to on day 2
poker is easy after the last cards are dealt and the hand is over

Ha. You are of course wholly correct.
So much of poker is in the mind.

Am staying at The Orleans, many of you will be familiar with their card room.
I've never seen it so busy.
A $300 Tourney yesterday made almost $200,000. Poker is alive & well.
Not quite sure how they filmed this, but it gives some idea of the Room.

Glad to see you're enjoying your poker, free from the pressures of a staking consortium behind you waiting for tales of derring do and scoopios.
Myself on the other hand find myself at a loss to where I can play online. As I have an Imac, I can't download the Sky App and the browser version is absolutely Pony. I have accounts with GGpoker and PartyPoker but don't particularly enjoy playing their structure of tournament, the stoopid animations and river card peel(I know I can turn some of them off)really makes me seriously considering stopping playing. I'll probably just start playing sats, for bigger live events and see if I can't get back into live playing which I used to enjoy a lot.
Enough of my moaning, looking forward to the Vegas updates and seeing how your retirement goes. Hopefully catch up at a live table soon.
I hear you Carl.
Online Poker sites with throwables where you can lob pretend poos at opponents? Seriously? That's what it's come to? Yikes. Not for me, no way, never.
It's probably an age thing, or generation gap. The game I came to adore was vanilla, with no fancy structures, bounties or whatnot. Just plain vanilla.
I've no idea what the new Sky Poker site is like (clearly, I can't access it from the USA) but I'll have a look when I get back.
If I can find some sensible Big O or PLO8 I might give it a whirl, but I have no interest now or ever in any site that has throwables & the like. Hard to imagine why any adult would, but there must be a demand or else they would not include it.
Poker poker players really are outwith my understanding. I know one who BOASTS that he gets tilted. He's proud of it. Bit like young lads used to say they went to the pub & got so pissed they don't remember any of it. Yeah mate, that sure makes sense.
In my world, getting tilted over poker is the dumbest thing ever. How can getting tilted help our game, or more importantly, our enjoyment of it? Don't forget, we are recreationals, it's our hobby, & hobbies are meant to be enjoyable. I feel exactly the same pain as they do when I take a beat, we all do, but as sure as Hell I'm never going to let anyone see it, because I want to preserve my dignity. More than anything, poker is a test of character & it's very easy to see who the winners are, & it's got nothing to do with how much we win or lose.

If you can login haha, which I still can't because I didn't play enough on the site. I'd been inactive (on the poker playing side) for over 12 months so my account hasn't yet been moved over to the new system. It will be apparently "during June"...

Not exactly the way to run a successful site.
1. Remove the free advertising via the Forum
2. Stop various people from accessing the site-you know, people who would want to try it
3. Guarantees already being cut
I used to like playing on i-poker some years ago. But they have been taken over by someone called Late Reg.
Seriously, who wants to play a 25 Euro MTT with an 8 hour Late Reg? And 3-5 hours late reg/8 hour run time seems to ne the norm. Sky's schedule looks quite appealing in comparison.
If only they had some way of marketing it
I have been playing loads this week. Simply because the overlay was too good to miss. Unfortunately, the overlay was also too big for Sky to miss, too...

Yes, exactly the problem I have. "But I work for you and run the Community" cut no ice at all. It's what happens when Companies get very large.
Sad face.

With the greatest of respect, Sky Poker is a teeny tiny Company, that is owned by a very large Company. That, for the most part, has no clue what Sky Poker does.
And the people in the teeny tiny bit are playing "look at me, I'm indispensable, me".
As a result, the offering is patchy. For example, take the £100,000-worth of Freerolls idea.
It has 2 very good strands. Daily £3k ones for people playing on the site. Which is why they are preventing ex-players from accessing the Freerolls. And, at the end of the month, some chunky ones for the volume players.
But it is missing a 3rd strand. Freerolls for new and returning players. Because Sky has for many years had a loyal customer base and too few new/returning players.
An opportunity missed.

Got a dream start AA2 utg. Got 3 streets of value Vs TPTK and 2nd but low. The bonus was it against the big stack directly on my left who I was worried about. Can breathe easy for a bit. Over 140k

This was next, a complete change of pace & mood.
I may actually have read it before but it was well worth a re-visit.
Mr Bryson writes about as well as anyone imo, & his range of adjectives in particular is unrivalled.
Highly recommended.
Ashley Walters has just released his autobiography. As reading lists go it should be Top. Boy it’s good.
Wishing you a happy retirement and an enjoyable Vegas trip.
Oh wow, even The Mantis is in the (Summer) House. Congrats on spotting the references. Oh, & thank you.
How's the new (2 years now?) marriage working out. Mrs Mantis got you under control?
Still managing that Golf Club in the Midlands?
I'll return to Top Boy shortly. Simply the best TV Series I've ever seen. Sopranos, BB, BCS, all excellent but Top Boy was different level.
Ashley Walters bio? Yes, I'll get that, thank you. He was not my favourite character in the Series, but in real life I know he's had quite a life, much of it on the wrong side of the street. Now he's a proud father (two daughters?) & a caring husband & has a nice little place on the coast, Herne Bay I think. I do love it when folks who have gotten their lives in a mess - crime, drugs, whatever - straighten themselves up.
Stick aqround Big Man, we're gonna need you.
New tv series MobLand with Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren is very good.
3 years on June 18th plus 30yrs engaged. Absolutely adore Mrs Mantis.
Still at the golf club. A successful and enjoyable chapter. I’m very lucky. That is aside from missing out on vegas staking the one year you appear to be ripping new ones.
