What’s on today sir and how did you get on yesterday ?
Can’t see you at the Venetian plo yet , but I assume you’ll be playing here tomorrow ?
Rode my luck for a min cash yesterday but did get a stack at one point so was hopeful of a really deep run until I lost a large key pot as 60/40 on the flop when it all went in.
Played with jeff madsen half the day but didn’t clash much other than a cooler I was on the right side of. Also played with Gus Hansen for the first time and managed to bust him on an uneventful lucky pot.

Bit of an update.
Yesterday was the NLH $1,100 Seniors at Aria, my first ever Seniors event.
The day was enlivened by the arrival of Mad Turk, 3 seats to my right. He's such a fun guy to share as poker table with.
All in all it was the most fun table all trip, plenty of banter & some great characters.

I had plenty of action & some real extremes of luck both good & bad.
Early doors I lost a decent pot when I had to lay down Q-Q on an all-spade flop.
Then I flop a set of 2's but could not get on.
Two black aces were the next highlight, but I was UTG & got 4 callers, which was not ideal, o-o-p.
It came three Hearts. I felt had to bet but there were bound to be someone with hearts in their hand. I get 3 bet by a chap from Wisconsin & after some thoughtage, I fold & I'm pleased to say my man showed me Ah 3h for the flopped nuts.
Incidentally, in general chat, I asked him what his line of work was or is.
High tech enterpeaneur
he says. I can barely spell that let alone know what it means. Sounded a bit up his arse to me.
I tried to force the pace, maybe a shade too much, & soon my 30,000 looked more like 11,000.
It was at this point that Turk arrived & he raised it up on my BB. I had 10-10 & convinced myself that if I jammed he'd call. I did, he did, (5-5) & I'm back in the game. God Bless Turk.
Adam Wilkinson (had a $40,000 cash last week) & John Hewston both came across periodically to chat with Turk.
The cards started to turn in my favour now & a nice 8k pot with 10-10 got me above starting for the first time all day.
Next I find A-K utg & raise it up, 4 callers, & then Turk moves all in. Not a shadow of doubt this is a classic Turk squeeze & I can't wait to re-jam. Everyone else folds. I confidently flip my A-K & Turk turns over.... K-K. Oh my, a complete misread. Luckily the Dealer came to my rescue & the door card was an Ace.
We are not supposed to feel any sympathy when we bust someone, but Turk has had a shocking trip & has yet to cash so I did feel a little rueful.
The cards went dry after that, & from 43,000 (30k SS) at the first break I bled down to 13,000, & despite a 2XUp when I had 13,000 to take me to 26,000 I just slowly blinded away.
The structure was quite sharp & soon I was looking for my spot. Fella to my right had been well busy & everyone was paying him respect, so we never got to see his material. I decided he was my man, & next time he opened I would get my stack in, & I still had enough to make him fold. Another great read by me, he had the Aces...
Finishing position was 62nd of 290 with 38 paid, so not a disgrace by any means, especially as it was NLH & I was quite pleased with how I played. Got v lucky twice, & ran into a few bad boards so probably luck neutral. Still a chunky loss on the day though.

Today I was due to play the $1,100 PLO @ Venetian, but after some thought I decided to swerve it. When I played the $1,600 PLO Bounty two days earlier the sheer pace of the game took me off my feet, they were getting it in super light (or so it seemed to me) & just serial-rebuying. So I've decided not to play any more PLO this trip, they took me right out of my comfort zone & I felt I was being outplayed.
Instead I opted for the $500 NLH Seniors at Golden Nugget.
After some early good fortune (my flush got there v Aces) propelled my to 70,000 (30k ss) the cards went completely dry on me, & I just sat there level after level completely unable to find either a hand or a spot. I did find A-K (both red) v 2 Black Queens & the door was a lovely King, but it ran out 4 clubs to swing it back to him so I was back in the doo doo again.
I did find Q-Q & got 2 callers, flop was 8-2-2, two clubs & I bet 3,000. He then jams all in for 20k. Has to be a flush draw, so an easy call, & so it was, Kc-10c. The flush missed but he rivered the K. Meh.
Next up, Q-Q again but I run smack into Aces. And flop my Queen, oops.
It was all uphill after that. Around 100 were left from the original 329, with 42 paid but I somehow wheedled & nurdled my way into a Min Cash + 1 for 31st place for $908. So, lots of oohs & aahs & then a real cling on job with no cards at all.
Yet another Min Cash + 1 which is getting embarrassing, but all things considered I was reasonably pleased with how I played. I just need to find ways to maintain my stack when the cards go dry. Good players manage somehow, but try as I might, I always end up nursing a bowl into the money.

A Stokie poker friend ( Garry Medlock) got HU in this seniors event and came second, scored $26,600.
Turk is lively to have at the table and a lovely bloke.

Hi Tony, did you yet, or are you planning to play WSOP Event #46 $1,000 Seniors NLH Championship? Asking as it’s one of the events I’m doing the event report for (I’m doing about a dozen event reports throughout the series, as well
as the Brit reports).

A quick "good luck" message to animalpoker (aka Rob Price) who, minutes ago, had a Top 10 stack in the WSOP O8/Stud thing.
The thing with Rob is that he has a super aggro style, so he's never far from doubling or busting.
This screenshot from the WSOP+ jobbie was a bit ago, but he WhatsApp'd me minutes ago & was on 660k. He had a bruising loss with Queens full to Kings full but since then has got right back into it.

I played it today, & think I lasted until about Level 5. No bad beat stories, but the exit was a bit dramatic, after I 3 bet with Q-Q & a fella called the 3 bet.
The flop was 6-7-7, & we incrementally got all the money in after the river. I was last to bet & the speed of his call told me I was history. He had 9-7 (dd).
Just one of those things.

After the Golden Nugget grindathon which resulted in a Min Cash + 1 I've go nothing to report really in my last two efforts.
A deepish run in the Venetian Big O saw an exit in around 60th of about 190 I think. Stack see-sawed more than usual, but when it mattered it sawed the wrong way after I got it in roughly 50-50 (it's hard to know the exact %'s in Big O) & it was death by danglers as his danglies hit 2 pair. Equities run incredibly close in Big O so these spots are so flippy. And of course if I learned to motor with a bigger stack in these things I could survive these spots.
And as per my previous post, the WSOP Seniors lasted barely 5 or 6 levels before a terrible misunderstanding arose.
So, enough of all that, next post will be about a Gentleman who rather presumptuously calls himself "The Poker Professor".
Any by way of seeing where I'm going with this, here's a 10 minute video by him. (He has a YT Channel with 79 zillion similar videos on it).
Do me a favour, watch the first 60 seconds then you can close it down - assuming you get that far - & then my post will make much more sense.
There are dozens of "Coaching" Videos by him too. Don't say I didn't warn you...
