How to fit everything in, & should I keep running at 100mph, or slow down & slide into my dotage quietly? Maybe it won't be my decision. Maybe dotage has already arrived. Smiley

Keep running Tikay. Slow down and die (or inevitably fall ill - why is it that whenever you totally relax you fall ill?).  Keep busy, keep active - maybe take up that 3rd thing again Wink

We have a new "Presenter" on Poker Week this week - Michelle Orpe, as Gouldy & Compo are both unavailable. Orpey is travelling up to Leeds tomorrow, & she wants to go out on the lash in Leeds. These Essex girls love their pop!

omg I am gonna go rail Smiley sure beats Leeds vs Sar'fend

She's actually huge fun, & I'm happy to introduce you, & you can maybe take her on the lash, as I don't drink. Come & see me, & I'll sort it out with Michelle, she's alone in a strange town, & needs looking after. But she's working on Sunday, so not too late!

Sounds a plan, sadly going out on the lash would be a little too much to pass by the wifey Smiley I head down tomorrow for fun and games tho

OK bud, even better. She leaves London (Kigs Cross) by train mid-afternoon, so she'll be up in Leeds early evening, book into her Hotel, then straight across to the Casino. You'll find her either at the bar, or ogling me. Probably the former.

Nice to meet you in the week, really, you played just great at Luton, & I hope you got home OK.

No Tourney Report from Thursday's £300 at Sheffield Owlerton, as I was only there one orbit, but for what it's worth, there were 60 runners, & this Casino has changed so much for the better with the smoking ban, it's a pleasure to be there, even if it was only for 15 minutes. For those who have not been there, it adjoins the Speeday & Dog track, & no Casino in the UK has  bigger & better, or closer, & free, Car Park. The staff are well friendly, the dealers excellent, & the craic is superb. But the chips are a health hazard, they are just absolutely filthy, & you can pick a stack of 10 up just by picking up the top chip, they stick together, like a teacup to a sticky saucer. Always been the same, too, as long as I've been going there. And there's an oddity - they have a 200 denom chip! WTF is THAT about? But, overall, a lovely place now the no-smoking thing has come in.

Thewy treated us to dinner - he, Chris Bruce, Junior, Lucky Jim bookiebasher" Moult, Ian Macdonald, & Greg "Junior" Hill. Dave Shoelace joined us for a while, too. The Restaurant serves posh food - posh food in Yorkshire, what's that about?

Not seen Junior for a goodly while, he fell in love a while back, &, well, you know how it is. He looks well, younger than ever, and his Grandad, Geoff, remember, cashed in the WSOP Seniors in Vegas this year.

Iam Macdonald ran deep in the WSOP Main Event, too, 400th & something, for £30,000 I think. His son, Tristram cashed too, they were the winningest (as the yanks would say) Father & Son Combo in the Main Event. Ian's a really lovely man, & has a reputation as a super-rock, but he's anything but that, & can dance with the best of them, & he rarely needs to show a hand.

The Tourney began at 8.20pm, 20 minutes late, sigh, & I was back on the road by 8.40, double sigh. It's a really hollow feeling when you are revved up for an Event & are sent packing within the first orbit, you kinda dunno what to do with yourself.

I've been musing over the exit hand, but on balance, I can't get off it at any price. (AK on the Q-J-T flop). It's just one of those things.

Dunno who cashed in the Event, but I hope one of the Notts boys did. Especially if it was Thewy. Wink

UGH!  Very unlucky.  Was it a house or a flush that popped out of the hat by the river to take you out?

The flop  was  , he held  , I held  , there was 600 in the Pot & he made it 3,000! (We began with 5k). Sorta played itself for me. We'd been playing less than 15 minutes!

I came up to Leeds a day early, & had dinner with Willie Tann this evening. Everyone is buying me dinner these days! Nice though, as I never eat meals at home.

The Gala Leeds is quite nice inside, very similar to the Gala Maybury, with the Restaurant & Cardroom upstairs, on a sort of balcony overlooking the Ground Floor. The "Cardroom" is actually two areas, one with 5 tables, the other with 6 tables.

Tonight's £200 was sold out, I was third reserve, but everyone showed up, so there you go, no prob.

But I discovered THE weirdest thing.

If 10 players failed to show, & there were 10 Reserves on the List, the Reserves would NOT get a seat unless the "no-shows" actually rung the Casino & said they were not gonna turn up. If they dd not ring up & cancel, their seat would NOT get released to a reserve. And why is that? You'd NEVER guess! It's as mad as a bag of mad things, & totally illogical.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to tomorrow's Main Event, which the nice peeps at Gala have comped me in, as well as, I gather, Willie Tann & Mark Patrick. A 2.30pm start is as early as it gets, but it's fine by me. I can be home for tea.

I'm spending tonight at the 4 star Queens Hotel in Leeds, for the amazing price of £60. I used to have an office right across the road from here, in Wellington Street, many years ago. Leeds has changed beyond recognition since then, & some of the new buildings are really pleasing on the eye.

In the morning, I transfer to the Ibis Hiotel, which Poker Week have booked me into, they sort out the Hotels when we are "on location". I suppose it woulda made sense to book there for tonight, but 2 nights in an Ibis is too much for anyone, they are truly awful.

I played some $5-$10 Online Omaha tonight & pulled back $960 of this week's losses. Still behind on the week though, Online and Live. I made a goodly few bob last week, but the tide has turned with a vengeance this week. It's the nature of the game, & why it's so fascinating.

Flushy rung tonight. He had played the £2,500 NPL thing at Loose Cannon, for which, surprisingly, 30 runners turned up, one of the biggest fields of the week. (They've had 26, 29, 15, etc). But he had two bad accidents, & even though it was a Double Chance, he was unable to recover.

Chili is playing the Event, too, sponsored in by Matt Dale, & with average at 15,000-ish, she is hanging in with 9,000, with 13 players left. 6 get paid, I believe.

Chip Daddy is currently one Jason Ho, with 39,000, with Josh Gould close up in 2nd, &, remarkably, his father, Peter Gould, in 4th. What a lovely thing it'd be if father & son cashed. Jeff Buffenburger is in 5th. Dave Colclough was in good shape early, but he's struggling now with 10k. He can recover. He's won one, & cashed in another, already, this week at the NPL Fessie.

Matt Dale (mango99) somehow ran his 10k stack up to over 30,000 in the first level, & even more remarkably, was out in 22nd place! I gather he was really enjoying himself, maybe had a tipple or two. ...... He's one of poker's really genuine & straight guys, but I worry about him getting his leg lifted sometimes, as he's just too nice.

The bok strikes again. Chili is out, Monty Burns too. Ditto Roland de Wolfe & Roy Brindley.

Current Chip Daddy is Lee Watts.

Trivia rubbish.

The Queens Hotel, where I am lodged tonight, is an Art-Dcco affair, & very probably a Listed Building.

It was opened in 1936, by Lord Derby. So it's actually older than me. Considerably.

In yesterday's "Times" newspaper, they asked actor Stephen Fry if he'd ever play an action hero.

"I'd rather suck faecal matter out of the ***hole of a goat" said the great man.

We'll take that as a "no", then.
