Im hugely against this league

i believe it to be unfair, unethical and possible illegal

1  : Lets start with the aded money :    at this point they have no idea how much they will be adding at the end of the league  they estimate it will be £3k  we the players have no idea what the prizepool is and how much they are adding we just have to take there word for it

2  : contrubution   :   money is taken from the prizepool   £50 from a £0-£1k    £100 from £1l-£2.5k   £200 from £2.5k-£5k   £300 from £5k plus   this numbers are from memory might be slightly out
The other night 12 players played a £20 turbo f/o    £240 in the prizepool they deduct £50 for the league  over 20%

3:  Informing the players  :  luton has a players forum of which is was a member this wasnt mentioned to us let alone discussed i dont believe any of the other players were asked either

4: Qualifing : you get 1 point for turning up   5pts for a win 4 for a second 3 for a third 2 for a forth and 1 pt for any other cash finish
so if i win a 12 plyr turbo and you win a 120 runner £50 rebuy we both get the same points   and players that never cash can get more points then players who can only play once a week but cash often

5: the event itself :  if you qualify you get to play a 128 plyr heads up knockout  If you get knocked out in the 1st round you get £50 the 64 plyrs out then play a 64 plyr shootout with the winner getting £700  if you get knockout out in the 2nd round you get £75 with no chance in the shootout

6: time  :  the league lasts for over 4 months i know a few players who already know that they will be away just before xmas but wil have to contribute to this league for the next 4 months without choice

Im sure i have more complaints about this they will come back to me later

I don't want to be party to a "knock Luton" theme, because, like you, & all the others who have commented, we are all very fond of the G-Casino Luton, it's Staff, & the players there, it has great atmo. So I don't wish to create the wrong impression.

But this cannot be correct - tell me it ain't so?

My post is not intended as a knock luton theme im a huge fan of the possibilites of the new luton cardroom
i travel 50 miles each way 4/5 times a week to get to the place overcoming the problems of the M25 and M1
As snat said the people at Luton are amongst the best players in the country to play with and i apprieciate the vast efforts of most of the efforts of the staff but the place just keeps shooting itself in the leg

as for the turbo as far as im aware that was the situation 2 saturdays ago

Same situation at Walsall

Afternoon comps see the contribution taken is higher than the last 2 payouts. I have stopped entering until the leagues are finished as I can only attend one a week with no chance of qualifying.

Just to reiterate as I always sound anti Luton. I really like playing comps there, the players are great fun and the cardroom is great but examples like the one above and their persistence in using odd payout structures along with no imrovement In the basics is so frustrating. It could really be a flagship cardroom in the UK but it isnt going to be unless they try to sort out what should be the very basics.

A young lad - 11 years old - is shot dead, in the back of the neck, in Liverpool. How devestatingly terrible.

And all the do-gooders are now bemoaning the local council & Government - "it's because kids have nothing to do, so they go wrong". Yeah, right, they are bored, so they shoot kids for fun. Somehow, society has reached a point where it's been brainwashed into believing that keeping childen from being bored & going off the rails is the Council's responsibility. It's damn well NOT. When parents decide to have kids, do they ask the Council first? I just despise this "blame everyone but yourself" attitude.

And I am just completely whooshed by this gun culture.

Yesterday in Letchworth, two guys were shot after a verbal tiff - Letchworth, ffs!

This morning, on the M5, shots were fired at two coppers.

I think I'm worldly-wise - don't we all? - & I've seen a bit of life, not always on the right side of the street. But I've never, not once, seen a real gun in England, let alone know anyone that owns one. (Sporting use apart). And yet we hear of shootings every day. Even Kids have guns. WTF? How? Where they get them from? How much they cost? Where do they buy the bullets? Tesco's?

Drug use too, is blamed, I suppose that's the Council's fault, too. A third of us, it's often suggested, indulge in some form of drug taking. Fine by me, just don't invite me to partake. Where do they buy drugs? How do they find out - Yellow Pages, google?

I know a handful of folks who mess with soft drugs, & I hold no moral position on that, it's their business, not mine. Most of them are pretty normal, though a few exhibit bizarre mood-swings.

But recently, I've become aware of a more serious drug problem, in the little orbit in which I frequent - poker. Several instances of snorting (cocaine, I assume) have been observed in Casinos, during breaks, and one or two folks have been caught, & banned. I guess it explains some of the bizarre plays we see in even Big-Buck comps. To TAG, & LAG, add DAG - drug-aggressive.

OK, the soapbox is due back at Noon, I'm outa here.

Did the Sky Show last night, & the 3 hours seemed to whizz by. For me, anyway, if not the viewers.

We had a few gremlins, too. The LeaderBoard page "stuck" a few times, & once, the Table we were commentating on "froze". When that happens, the need to blather on unhesitatingly is paramount. Blathering is my speciality act, so I cope. For the kids in the Gallery, it's a nightmare, but they stuck to their tasks & got it all sorted. I can't tell you how much I admire those youngsters who run that Show. The technology is awesome to behold, & yes, it falls over now & then, but my word, what pluck & backbone the Techos have. Guns & drugs may be widespread, but Britain's future is in good hands with most of today's youngsters.

Lynsey Horne made sure we all knew she's now engaged to Dan Hipgrove, & what a happy couple they look. I referred to Dan's previous band last night (Toploader) as a "pop group", sheesh, did I get some black looks for that.

Speaking of black looks, I have an apology to make, but first an explanation.

When I bought a young lady home once, ooh, 40 years ago now, my Nan said to me the next day, "look after her. She's from good stock, she has child-bearing hips".

So, on the Sky Show a few weeks back, I was chatting to Sam, a very pretty female guest, & complimented her fine figure by suggesting she had child-bearing hips.

I bumped into Sam on Wednesday at Luton. Or, more like, she bumped into me. Hard. "Chld-bearing hips? CHILD-BEARING HIPS? On Live TV?" said the lovely but clearly not entirely chuffed young lady. I'm not at all sure if she was cross or not, but I thought it best not to argue, ever the diplomat me.

I'm sorry Sam, it was well-intended.

And I AM sorry. Honest.

I tell you what. Ain't women weird? You compliment them, & they go off one one.

I was going with a girl once, nice, but had a bit of a feisty attitude.

If I complimented her hairdo, it'd be "well does it usually look hiorrible then?"

Her dress, "well what's wrong with my shoes?".

"Last night was great". "Is it usually no good then?"

What a wonderful special is woman. Deffo a bit odd, though. I can't recall many who have a fascination with trains, cranes, tractors  & bridges. I rest my case.

Child-bearing hips - that would count as a compliment to a woman in my book.

Maybe we need a poll...
