Re: using $ or £ online. Until the online sites that do have £' and $ tables cap their rake at a figure which compares with the $3 max cap on most games I'll keep playing in $.

I'm strangely curious as to what's gonna go off at Midnight tonight.

The new Gaming Act 2005 kicks in at Midnight, and now they no longer need the Police to take action, the GC can just enforce, as I understand it, though I really don't know how.

So will there be Raids at Midnight? Will all the Unlicensedl Venues be shut down by the GC? Frankly, I doubt it, neither do I wish to see it, though it must be said, a few of them are a bit iffy.

But it's bizarre that Rob Yong has spent a fortune & still can't open, whereas the Unlicensed Venues can trade with impunity.

I know one thing though. I'd not go near any Unlicensed Venues tonight, or until it all settles down, because "closedown Raids" are a certainty for some of them sooner than you think. And if it's one of the dodgy ones, the quicker the better. If that does not happen, then we will have the proof we need that the new Gaming Act is as toothless as the last one.

Stand by to be raided!

The Act featured on the BBC news tonight.Basically it said that if the Poker Club, "turns into" a social and sports club...ie add some snooker tables and a couple of dart boards (and maybe a fishing club on the A40 !!!)....then they will be legally allowed to run poker.

As you say ,we shall see.

It just amazes me that the DTD's opening, is held in lmbo, while unlicensed clubs trade illegally, and continue to increase their rake with apparent impunity.

Tonight, I do the Sky Show, & then I fly out with Compo to Barcelona from Stansted (Stansted, when I live 10 minutes from East Mids!, but it beats Luton I guess) at 0700 tomorrow (Saturday) morning, to Barcelona for Poker Week, & we fly back into Stansted at around Midnight on Sunday. On Monday morning, fresh as a daisy (one assumes), I am up in Bolton with a Poker Week Cameraman to do an in-depth inteview with Jon "skalie" Kalmar.

I live about 10 miles from East Midlands airport and have done for about 5 years and never flown from there, the flights are just so expensive compared to other airports.

I live about 4 miles from birmingham international and i've taken more flights from east midlands than from there!!!

After I finished the Sky Show on Friday night, I had some stuff to sort in the office, & it was 0130 before I eventually set off for Compo's house, right next to Stansted Airport.

The plan was to while away the night at his place, then set off for the Airport at about 5am, to beat the queues for the 0715 Easy Jet flight to Barcelona.

I became unbelievably fatigued & drowsy during the drive round the M25 to Compo's place, but got there safely, & pulled up on his drive at 0230. Lights were on, but he has family. Knock on the door, or ring him, I'm thinking? Don't wanna set Bosco barking & wake everyone up.

While I'm musing this, sat in the car on his drive, I must have fallen asleep. Next thing I know, my phone is ringing.

"You OK?" says Compo. "

Eh?"

"Are you OK?"

"What?".

"It's 0545, where are you?"

"It's what time?"

"0545, where are you?"

"On your drive".

"Why?"

"I dunno".

"Why are you asleep on my drive?"

"I dunno...."

And so it's panic time now. We are only 5 minutes from Stansted, but Compo has to get dressed, & I'm not really compos mentos yet. And I'm very grumpy, & cold.

We eventully get to the Check-In Desk with minutes to spare, & are the last to check-in.

After the dreadful queues at Security, we don't have to wait to board, we are the last on, in the nick of me. Phew.

Anyway, lots of stuff to write about Barcelona, but I gotta go do some work now, we are interviewing Roy Brindley, back later, & have a nice Sunday.

Tikay, your falling asleep all over the shop, think you should be honest with yourself and admit your too old to be driving before you have a nasty accident. I'm sure i'm not the only one who's worried about you...

Was quietly thinking all that driving and time spent running/racing could be dangerous.  Don't think you're too old to drive, but surely you're old enough to know better and stay off the road when you're too tired.  Mind yerself!!!  Too many people care about you, ya goose!

Watched the Poker Week Show yesterday and was great, thanks for the kind words at the end.

But what really cracked me up was you nicking compos chips and putting them in your pile. I dont know why i found it so funny but it had me in tears and your face was so serous while doing it- I have to assume you have done that before in real games by the way you carried it out!

Watching the Best of Skypokern on the telly roundabout 7 o'clock today..just switching channels when the Mrs asks me to leave it on for a while as she quite likes it that they spend a fair bit fo time discussing certain hands.

after a while they have a little bit with Tikay and I say "see, that's TK"...the Mrs immediatly replies "Who? the old guy?"...lmao cracked me up..then she even goes on to say "Wow he looks a LOT older on telly than he does on his blonde picture!"...

Made my Sunday, that did.. (I know I'm a sad sad man)

Tony,

People that do things like that are either very old or doing too much and need to have a rest.

Which one you gonna admit to?
