No. I like to talk when I drive. You shall listen.

Tractors, cranes, the A453 wdening scheme, farm subsidies, blue tongue disease, wind farms, are they good or bad?

It's gonna be great fun.

The Brighton Rendezvous Fessie.

Tuesday, £150 Single Rebuy & Add-on.  8pm start. 3,000 starting chips. One day comp. 30 minute clock, structure included the 75-150 level. Comp finished at about 4am.

Thursday, £300 Freezeout. 8pm start. 6,000 starting chips. Two day comp. 40 minute clock. Structure did NOT include 75-150, or 150-300. The Final, as a result, started at around 1.30am on Day One.

Tell me that makes sense.

OK, it was a mistake, they admitted so, & there but for the grace of God go I.

"Can we consider changing it then?" I asked politely & hopefully, having driven to Brighton & booked a hotel room based on a 2 Day Comp having, I assumed, a 2 day structure.

"No, because we've advertised it". They advertised THAT structure? For a 2 day Comp?

Marvellous.

This is just wrong, & poker players need to be treated better than this.

I can think of far better things to do with my time than drive for 4 hours - each way - & book a Hotel room for a Comp advertised as a 2 day affair, when it fact it's structured as a 1 day comp.

I have no problem with fast-structured One Day Events at £300 a pop, though I rarely play them, as I can find better value (insofar as my game is concerned) elsewhere, but each to their own. But to advertise it as a 2 day Comp & then give us that structure - FASTER than the One Day £150 rebuy earlier in the week! - makes no sense to me, & should & could have been changed on the night.

So I made my point to Management, politely of course, & they responded equally politely, but I consider I wasted my time & my money. And they wasted my goodwill

As I prefer to "do" rather than just moan, I think we will consider insisting that all the Cardoom Managers who Post on our Live Poker Board MUST include the Structure of their Comps.

"Electronic devices such as i-pods, MP3 players & the such like are NOT PERMITTED in this Casino, & must be left at Reception."

So reads the sign as you enter Brighton Rendezvous.

Personally, I don't see the problem, I'm ambivelant on the matter really.

But more than 20 players in last night's comp were using i-Pods, maybe partly to alleviate the horrific drunken & loutish shouting & abuse that was going off, more of which later.

Now I don't have a problem with i-Pods one way or the other. But I DO have a problem with prominently displayed Rules which are not implemented.

Anarchy awaits if we can all do whatever we want. If there is a Rule, it should either be implemented, or, if it's daft, removed. Ignoring Rules is not an option. Not in my little world, anyway.

I agree that rules must be implemented, but I am guessing that in the poker room it is ok, but not in the casino itself.

Brighton Rendezvous Fessie - no Dealers for the Wednesday Tourney. This was a Fessie! We had them Tuesday, & Thursday, but not Wednesday. What?

No Dealers for a Fessie? Not for me, sorry. I had planned to play it, but when I found this out, I decided to go home, & return for the Thursday 2 dayer. (That's the One Day Two Dayer.......)

It's their right to fail to provide Dealers (they still charged the juice, mind), and it's my right to vote with my feet, after making the necessary polite complaint to Management.

I just don't grasp why Players accept this sort of thing in a recognized Fessie. How are we gonna improve the poker players lot if folks accept this sort of thinking without a murmer?

Guy/Guya - yes, & a splendid TD she is too.

And Brighton Rendezvous is a terrific Venue. Self-contained Cardroom, no music, good dealers, & most important, most of the players are huge fun & the craic is great.

Car Parking, it don't get better, or easier. Free Valet Parking, or Free Parking in the Multi-Story which is 30 yards away. Perfect.

The new "downstairs" Cardroom is my style too. None of this fancy Corporate Architect pish everywhere, just plain, magnolia-emulsion walls, good seats, nice tables, nice chips. Here we can play poker in comfort & style.

But I'm afraid the wheels came off there last night big-time.

I'm not anti-Rendezvous, honest, I'm not, I love it there, but last night was just awful.

Watch this space.
