Had an absolutely stonking weekend in Cardiff, but I'm wrecked now, so I'll Post some details, & thanks, on Monday.

I gotta be on the road at 9am Monday, to record a pilot show in London for Sky Poker, this is almost like having a proper job!

Ok, gotta go, need to polish the Two Trophies I got over the weekend. The Footie Medal was nice, but the Heads-Up one was special - my Heads-Up Trophy Cabinet is a little short of content, in truth. And I won ALL THREE of my matches!

A question for you, about Live Poker. Anyone who plays "Live" has seen this scenario a thousand times. I stil don't quite know what to make of it, to be honest.

Our Hero wins a contested Pot, but he Bets his opponents off, & we don't get to see his hole cards.

The chips are pushed his way, the other players have mucked their hand(s), the Board has been mucked, but our Hero still has his hole cards. It's done & dusted, he's won, & he has the chips, & has no need, or anything to gain, by the following action.

NOW, he takes a sneaky look at his hole cards, before mucking them.

Why?

This happens so often, there must be a psychological reason.

Is he smirking? - "I bluffed that", is it a sort of chirp? Is it designed to wind-up his oppo? Or tease his Oppo into thinking he's gonna show?

I see it so many times, & I've yet to understand why. It has no practical purpose, from what I can see. Yet loads of players do it.

Weird.

Weird.

1/10 he was at it and if he smirks afterwards and looks around the table to see if anyone is watching its 1/20. What he wants is for someone to say 'shows us your cards then, go on show us the bluff' he then turns em over, sometimes slams em on the table and has a  big grin.

I think he had a proper hand and just wants one last loving look at it....

It's a power thing. The player has just won a nice pot and everyone is interested to see what hand he's got. So the player takes one last sneaky peak in private to demonstrate that he is the only one privy to that valuable information.

The winning of the pot and the concealing of the information makes some players feel empowered. He has one last look just to re-affirm that this info can be accessed by HIM at any time and it gives everyone else the inclination that he will show...but no...he has the power to deny this. It's an ego thing.

I stay over in London, & have a meeting with Ladbrokes on Thursday at 1pm, discussing "Cruise" matters & this & that.

=

Tikay i know you prob have no influence over this but Laddies has recently broken with industry standard on the rake in cash games. If you could get a quick honest answer why they have upped the rake and i would appreciate it.

My link on blonde about it http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=28044.0

Werl, I think they've given the answer, but anyway, I've dropped them a note & I will let you know their reply.

I do not, of course, have an iota of influence at Ladbrokes, no more or less than any other Ladbrokes Client one assumes. However, they've been in contact with myself & blonde with a view to working together, perhaps doing some advertising on blonde, or a Media role associated with their upcoming Cruise, so maybe they'll take a look at feedback on blonde & respond accordingly.

I will be Posting some info about this week's LECOOP & their Online High Stakes Cash affair shortly, which I'm hoping some of our Members will find useful. Or spammy.....Wink

well if you need anyone to "work" on the cruise on behalf of blonde just give me a shout

Absolutely what it is and it's fuelled even more by players then discussing the hand and wondering what he had. The player can then sit basking in the attention his play created while everyone second guesses his hand and play.

I'm inclined to agree with this.

I think it's the "tease", "I'll make them think I'm gonna show, but I'm not, haha" sort of thing.

I just see it so many times, that last lingering look. I'm sure they have not forgotten their hand that quickly! Only I can do that.....

We do behave in strange ways, eh?
