Just to prove that Tikay is the luckiest player going wiat till you hear the first hand of last nights holdem cash game
He made the bravest call from the button ever
Brave? Not just brave, it was creative, inspired, brilliant poker by me.
We sit down for a £100 - £250 Hold 'Em Cash Game, 4 of us, including me, with £250, the rest with £100 each.
Very first hand, I'm on the Button with
There is Raise in Mid-Pos, called by everybody in the hand - 5 or 6 of us.
We see this flop, which I mildly like.
Hmm, how to get paid?
Easy.
SB says - ALL-IN.
Jim "Dave77" McShane in BB says - CALL ALL-IN.
Ambro, to my right, says "CALL ALL-IN.
So, about £750 in this Pot. What to do?
"Stop acting" they all say, as I assemble my £250 into a single pile ready to call. Take another peek - yup, I've got
"CALL ALL-IN" I say, in what has been described as a ballsy play.
And I scoop a £900 Pot. Jim held 2 pair, & picked up a flush draw on the turn, the other two both held 3-4!
Some nights you hit, others you don't. So much luck in the game.
I played for another 6 hours, & remained "steady" on £900 Profit, but lost a bit in the last hour, to leave me £500 ahead. Then I lost about £500 on the very last hand with a donkey-play, & ended the night exactly £1 up!
But great fun, in good company, & it cost me nought. It don't get much better.

So, it was 6am when I crawled into bed at the Luton Days Inn, & I was up at midday to poodle across to Sky at Feltham to record a Christmas Promo. Fancy being paid to do nice little jobs like that!
We are finished by 6pm, & as I'm due in Feltham on Wednesday night to do the Show "proper", so I have a room booked in Feltham overnight Tuesday.
I decide to play the £100 Freeze at The Western, but bust out early, so I tried a little £1 £2 Hold 'Em Cash in what was a £100 Sit-Down affair. Played quite well by my standards, & my draws were mostly hitting, & I cleared £700 profit, very nice.
I called one R in a family affair - I know the Raiser is on a big pair - with
. We see this beauty......
It's Pot Limit, but the lot is soon in the middle, & I turn the flush, & Big Pair man - he held QQ - was not happy.
Later, I repeat the trick with a similar hand, & the same poor guy was holding QQ again!
An odd thing happened later. It's a fun, "craic" table, & we sre just chatting & chilling, with plenty of amusing speech-play.
I call a R with
on the Button, but the BB re-pops it, & the original Raiser calls, as does one other.
"Jeez", I say", how do I get myself in these spots - I've called a R with a bag of spanners, & now I'm stuck for another £35 with this junk". To which 2 guys say "well you should be used to it by now, with the crap you play with". Fair enough.
But then the Dealer said my hand is dead, "speech play does not go, you've revealed your hand". What?!
I can't be arsed to argue, I play for the fun more than anything else, but when I ask why, & he says I've been making similar comments all evening (true) & it's out of order. There you go.
I eventually up sticks at 3am, cash-in my tidy profit, & drive back to my Feltham Hotel, book a late check-out (I'm not needed until 4pm) & settle down for a good sleep.
Until the 'phone rang at 0730........

My advice is if you go to bed at 3am that you turn your phone off. Hope this helps.

Behave.
He cited this example of my continued wrongdoing.
I'm in a Pot with two Rocks, we all have big hands, I have AK & I think I'm up against two big pairs.
We see this Flop......
And I say, tongue-in-cheek, but honestly, "well, nobody has hit that bugger".
For which, apparently, I got a sort of yellow-card.
But the Dealer is just doing his job, & I'm not gonna argue the toss with him. I'd rather have this battle (Rule Standardisation & Clarification) on a higher hill, & I'm doing exactly that.
We'll get there, we will.

I usually don't even hear the 'phone when I'm asleep, so it makes no odds, but I got lucky this time, & answered it - & was handsomely rewarded for doing so!
Watch this space.

This week's Poker Week airs at 1am tonight on Sky Sports 3 with a repeat tomorrow at 4:30pm on Sky Sports Xtra.
Apart from Tikay's impression at the start (hint: a famous movie villain) there's a nice interview with Donnacha O'Dea & a report on the EPT Dublin, which includes brief interviews with Ian Woodley, Liam Flood, Andy Black, Luca Pagano & Annette Obrestad.
Oh, & there is something dreadful acting at the end as well! BAFTA do not need to be informed!
