This sort of crap sickens me.

Take a look at the jobs page in the Gaurdian any day.

All sorts of non jobs available at hair brained salaries, think 'Nanny Co-Ordinators', 'Trampoline Safety Officers', 'Five A Day Co-Ordinators"

I just laugh at all the muppets that voted Labour.

Nothing compared to the billions they're spending on ID cards.

That won't work!

I had some aggro on Monday, as I was on the way to, & at, Luton, & the 'phone never stopped, 20 or 30 calls back & forth. There was a problem at Sky - a "major" Guest had not turned up, (a replacement Guest needed, God bless snatimiras), a problem at blonde, some stuff - big-time stuff - to sort for the blonde Waterford Fessie, & my Mobile Battery was flagging, just one bar left.

The 'phone rings while I'm playing the Comp, for the 10th time, sigh. I answer it, & it's an old flame, I not heard from her for 10 years or more, but she & I have a story or two to tell, or not, as the case may be.

Blimey, I can't believe it, all that time, & she rings me up, now that I am on the telly.

I can't speak now, mid-comp, so I say, "hey xxxx, give me your new number, & I'll ring you back tomorrow".

"OK" says she, "it's 0731, 459......". And then the battery died. I run so good. Mostly.

It annoys me because I do pay tax (over £1k per month in income tax alone from a 9-5 IT Job), yet all the chav's and lazy SOB's do nothing but collect their giro (and collect from their black market jobs or crime).

even more lol - it's a fundamental difference (as much as their is a difference left) between Labour who support big government and Conservative who support small government. It's what enables every Conservative opposition to be able to say they'd cut taxes by cutting bureaucracy, because every Labour government increases it. For a while it looked as if that pattern would be broken when Labour first took over and said they'd stick by and large to the previous administrations budgets, but that didn't last long.

I really enjoyed the comp on Wednesday at the G. It was just good pleasant entertainment and I thought Nina and the dealers had a lot to do with that. Some people just like to attack dealers and some people like to be miserable. It is the job of the non silent happy minority to ensure that they do not win and rain on everybody's parade. Ambro will chill he is a good bloke. Hinge and bracket on the other hand will whine until the cows come home.

If you've not been to Luton on a Wednesday come down it's a good place to play poker with what I think is the one of the best structured comps to be played on a regular night as are Monday, Sunday and to some degree Friday. If fishing is more your game Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are your nights. I know I grumble at times as regards some of the decisions taken by the casino or the group, that probably will not change, but this is only because it could be an even better experience. There is still more that can be done but having played at most sites around the London area somehow home is always in Luton.

It was Anthony I believe that managed to upset her and yes, I don't doubt she wasn't serious. She said something along those lines to Anthony himself.  Sad to say but we're not perfect and mistakes are always going to happen, most of them being genuine mistakes not down to us being careless or lazy. We can only ask that you embrace and accept them as part of the game, just as that miracle river we dealt you last week is all part of the game. We try our best, I assure you.

I don't think anyone really realises just how much abuse the dealers do get in any given shift and those players that are always polite and friendly are great to have on your table. It means a lot to us just to have someone say "Hello, how are you doing?" rather than "Oh bloody hell, not this ***** again" - a comment that you hear fifty times a night and it does grate. A lot of us are asked to stay behind or even give up our holiday to come in, especially festivals, to help cover it. I gave up my first weekend off in two months to come help out for the APAT weekend event that was running and I definitely wasn't the only one.  That said, we don't want or expect everyone to say "that's really kind of you and it's appreciated" because at the end of the day we do get paid to do it. We just want to enjoy ourselves and get on with our jobs and get home like the rest of you. Abusiveness just means we end up stressed, make mistakes and are less likely to stay next time. Next time a DC game is running, and the two people mentioned are playing, it's not likely that Anthony would stay on extra to deal it for people like that, and those instances do stick in your mind. It's very intimidating and very difficult for us to be face to face with people that can say whatever they like and we have to sit and take it all. So much as a comment back and you're in the office taking a verbal ear bashing. You all like your poker and that's great, we enjoy our jobs and are happy to deal it. It's one of those cases whereby if everyone made it easy for us, we can make it easy for them. The second someone makes you feel small and tiny, your confidence goes out the window and you become nervous which in turn just makes you even worse. Try to remember that the dealers are just doing their jobs, and mistakes  do happen. If you're unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end, then try to understand we didn't do it as a personal slight against you. Call us every name under the sun outside while you have a cool down cigarette, even, but if you do it on the tables and make a dealer feel like dirt then you're just going to shatter their confidence and more mistakes are bound to happen.

I wouldn't dream of going into someone elses place of work and talking to people the way I am talked to. Perhaps I just have a very outdated sense of morals and sense of etiquette.

Sorry, everyone, that became so much longer than I had intended.

Having said that, the Luton crowd, besides the odd one or two is great and I actually do enjoy going to work, funny as it sounds.

one of the things that really pisses me off about live poker is when dealers change tables and get up to leave and announce that "you have a new dealer" ... I always say "Thankyou" as they get up to go, and always say hello to the new dealer... but im amazed at the amount of players that just seem to have absolutely zero respect or even show any common courtesy to them.  It costs bugger all to smile and say hello or thankyou ffs.  but then some poker players seem to think that they are far too superior a class of human for such things.

Agreed.

Probably the same people who don't thank shop assistants, cleaners, waiters, security guards, etc.  They're just rude and ignorant.  They probably think they're somehow 'better' than them - when the opposite is actually the case.

It's those really small things that make a difference. Courtesy goes a long way. When you get up and say "Thanks, guys. Good luck" and you get silence back without any thank you's it really isn't very nice. But what can you do.
