Dingdell wrote elsewhere about a delightful young blonde Norwayer at DTD last night who greeted me the moment he walked in.

The "deightful blonde young man" in question was Sverre Sundbo. A female friend - either Jen or Chili - once told me he had the best arse in poker. Present company excepted, one assumes.

I'd not seen him for a year or two, but as soon as he shouted me from across the room, I recognized him. Well, nearly.

He shot to prominence in 2005, getting 2nd at The Vic for £120,000-ish, in the £5k entry European Championship. Amazingly, I played that Event - £5k! - after Thewy & A N Arsehole bought large chunks of me. Thewy bought 10%, & of course paid up pronto, Mr Arsehole purchased 50% & I've never seen a penny of it. We live & learn, can't believe I fell for the oldest trick in the Book "Poker Scamming the Easy Way".

The Final was a corker. Achilleas Kalakkis & Chubbs Nowab both just missed out in 11th & 12th, Max Pescatori, the Bandana'd Itie Nutter was 10th, Stephen Nash 8th (whatever happened to him?), Viktor "Desperate Dan" Kanwar 6th (fresh from a big win at Luton, or it may have been just prior), Peter Roche 5th, Dave Rudling 4th, Edward "Bolivia" Moncada 3rd, (fresh from a WSOP Bracelet that year), Sverre 2nd, & Tony G, on one of his more refined & decorous days, won it.

The Live Update, which Jen did, featured a pic of Vic Kanwar which I recall even now. He had a sussy looking stain at the lower end of his t-shirt, & the eagle-eyed blondes clocked it. Ribald comments about DNA evidence circulated freely.

After the event, Sverre, who was holed up in a dingy hotel, decided to change hotels, & he, Jen & myself had been chatting in the Vic Cafe area. He suddenly said to us both "hey, look after these" - & dashed off to change Hotels. Having first given to Jen & me, for safe-keeping, £120k worth of Cash Chips......Minutes later, Tony G gave me 2 x £5k chips to pass on to someone. So there we were, Jen & I, with £130k of Cash Chips in front of us, & the night still young.....

I stayed at Jen's place that night, on their whopping giant sofa, & had to get up for the 6am train to London next morning. Convinced I'd nod off on the train, she pinned a badge to my tie - "PLEASE WAKE HIM WHEN HE GETS TO DERBY".

Not seen much of Sverre since, but he seems to get by.

"Please go to Table 5, on the back row, if you have your name down for the £20-£40 Fixed Limit Texas".

(PA announcement at an (almost) Norweigan-filled DTD last night).

How much you need to sit down at that, ffs?

Nah, wasn't me.  I have never witnessed the arse in question.  It may change this evening though.

Watch out Thewy, Pete's gonna get ya.....

Pete Linton put up one of THE most remarkable displays of poker I've ever seen at the 109 runner DTD Freezeout last night.

He was fresh from the Manc GUKPT, where he'd Finalled, & busted, in 9th I think, & must have skated down to DTD pretty sharpish.

He promptly asked "any Norweigans at this table, identify youself, as I'm gonna bust you all". And apparently he claimed 5 Norwewigan scalps pre-break.

Tom was sat to his immediate left, & told me Pete Raised every single hand! I asked Tom how many hands he'd managed to play, & he said "I tried to play every hand that Pete played".....

Tom somehow reached the first break with his 5k starting stack intact, just about, with the average now 7k. Linton had 42,000....

He Yoyo'd up & down, but he soon had an "Annette Dublin" type Tower of chips, & was relentless.

Marcus Bebb-Jones told me that early in the Final, Pete moved all-in or Raised 15 successive hands.

A crowd of agog railers had gathered, & I popped across, Pete had some 150,000 of the 545,000 chips in play.

I went back 5 minutes later, & Pete had endured a triple head-on car-crash, & was down to 35,000, with Blinds at 3k-6k.

Two minutes later, he was up to 100,000 again.

Time ran out, & stumps were drawn for a Chip-Count at 4.45am, with three left. Pete had over half the Chips, & became the first player to win THREE DTD Comps, including a DTD 3-2-1 main Event.

He's pledged to take the fight to the Cash-Tables this week, too. Them Norwayers won't know what's hit them if Pete starts dancing again. Talk about "blood will be spilt".....

Arise, Lord Linton.

Thanks Tony nice words, was in hysterics by the end because of lack of sleep and just the sheer amusement of it all to me was much fun and a nice way to unwind from another dissapointing result.

GL everyone in DTD this week should be good

Rolf Woods was among the Norweigan contingent last night, & it was good to see him again. He's prominent in Norweigan poker circles, & runs the biggest Norweigan Poker Forum.

We used to Update together, back in the day, & always helped each other out, we'd help him with the names of Brits, he us with Scandies.

We were Updating somewhere once & the Wi-Fi fell over, this would be 2005. I had a Vodafone "Card" dubree thing, which were just out then. (And hopelessly outdated by Broadband-speed Dongley things now). So I lent him my Lappie, so he could Update, & we rotated, so we could all Update.

I was playing the £500 entry Sporting Odds Masters at Gutshot, & had popped into The Vic pre-start each day, as I was trying to play the Gutshot Event, & organise a Vic Update at the same time.

Rolf wanted to thank me for my help, & gave me £100. "I'll buy 20% of you in The Gutshot Comp" he said.

"No thanks, I don't sell any of myself, (who'd want it?), & anyway, I've been Sponsored in as the Sporting Odds Pro". I said.

"No take it, I insist" says he.

"I can't Rolf, sorry, gotta dash now".

And Rolf then pressed £100 into my hand - "go on - take it".

And I then went & Cashed for £17,500, & so Rolf copped for £3,500.

The irony there is on so many levels......

What goes round comes round though, & it's worked the same way for me, too.

By the way, blonde will be Updating the Norweigan Championships Main Event at DTD this week.

I think it's been sold-out, & should be a corker.

What price Lord Linton, G-B Thewy, & Lodden all Finalling?

If they do, don't blink.

There was a great story about Sverre Sundbo at the EPT Warsaw last year. He was trying to hail a cab outside the hotel when the cops drove by, spotted him and nicked him for begging. When they searched him they found several thousands of euros in cash, which confused them slightly. Either Sverre was the world's most successful beggar, or something else.

They concluded it was something else: he had to be a drug dealer. He was then carted off to the local nick where he spent several hours pleading his innonce before being released!

OK, gotta get ready & then get off to the Sky Poker - Sky Bingo Quiz Night, in Teddington, not far from here.

It's a sort of "thank you" from Management, because Sky Poker Channel 846 got nominated for an Interactive Emmy, & got the Sky Sports Simulcast Deal. The Invite says "slippers optional". They are all a bit mad here, trust me.

Teams are....

Team Club (The Club)

Aces Eggs

tikay's Terminators

People Under The Stairs

Divas

BingoBanjees

Studio Floorskins

The Mild Bunch

T-Force

The Magic 100

The Leftovers

It's 9/4 tikay's Terminators, (Orford, Orpey, James Taylor, moi), 8/1 bar. We are nailed on. We gonna do a Linton on 'em.
