I think it was the quietness of the hand that impressed me.

Id like to know how the Mad Turk managed to get that deal in the 3 way chop. Unbelievable

Hi Craig,

Stuart & myself took £2,400 each, & Turk took £4,800, all figures approx. Turk offered the Deal to Suart, I sat out of the discussion, as I always do, I was not fussed if we did a Deal or not, & was just delighted with a nice Cash.

Turk had about 70% of the Chips in play, 3 handed. Stuart had 60,000, I had 45,000, blinds were about to go 3k-6k.

Turk said to Stuart "I'll take a bit off the top, but you have to split 2nd & 3rd equally with tikay, or there's no Deal".

A bit unfair on Stuart in some ways, but as I said, I never involve myself in these discussions, as they usually become so ill-tempered. But Turk & Stuart agreed it all amiably, & I was happy with £2,400. Very. Greed is a bad thing, & it bites.

How much was the "official" 1st prize supposed to be pre-deal ?

Stuart who?

Seems a good deal for 1st, an ok deal for 3rd and a bit dodgy for 2nd in the chip counts..but a nice cash whatever the finer points.

I returned as almost Low-stack for Day Two of the Walsall £300, but bullet-dodged & Passed with great flair into 3rd place.

10 players had returned, with 9 paid, & one Gent refused to agree to a bit off the top for 10th, as was his right. So the rest of us all chipped in £30 each, so that 10th place man got something. We had offered, the night before, to keep playing until someone bust out, but that was rejected by the Venue.

Sadly, for me (& him, I suppose) it was Tom, after his Queens were done by A-Q. After that, he kept shoving & survived for a few orbits, but eventually the inevitable happened. I so wanted to share the Final Table with him.

He had a very odd Seat - the rockiest rock from rockville to his immediate left, & Turk behind him! Earlier, on one of those blind auto-calls you have to make against a serious short shortie, Mr Rock was in the BB with A-J & Passed to the mini-shove.

Later (in the Final), with Blinds at 1k-2k, Mr Rock, deep-stacked now, found himself in the SB, & the BB only had 1,600 - already in the middle as a "short" Big Blind. Turk Called, on the Button, &, believe it or not, Mr Rock Passed! It's truly the oddest Pass I've ever seen.

I know this sounds odd Ralph, but I can't quite remember.

I think (not sure) there was £9,760 left to play for, & I think 1st place was £5,400, or thereabouts.

2nd was £2,800, & third £1,600, or something like that.

I do recall that Stuart & myself took £2,400 each, & Turk sorted - very generously - the Valets.

I agree with greed being a bad thing but when the 1st prize is 5,300 I dont think you are being greedy if you tell him to play on rather than give anyone 4,900 without playing another hand. Especially when 3rd prize was just short of 2 grand

Well played though and nice result

I actually think the standard of Live Play in UK Medium & Big Buck Tournaments is, or was until recently, quite good. Is it as good now? No idea. But it has changed, I'm quite sure of that, there is much more gamble now.

It's dire, and has been since i started playing them, you must be joking saying the standard is quite good.

Obv the 84 is just horrible play, dunno how you class it as 'online play' the check jam with an over and nfd is pretty standard though.
I saw the hand and know the guy very well. He isnt bothered about poker , he just loves to gamble. He usually plays the roulette, fruit machine and poker at the same time.  Earlier in the week he won  20k on roulette. His best spin up is 4 quid to 55 grand on roulette. It is pointless trying to even evaluate the call as he isnt a poker player . He enjoys outdrawing people FACT  , every time he did, he told them to close the door on the way out LOL

I really warmed to this chap, Nick Clarke?, he was some funny guy.

His catchphrase - "close the door behind you" - was said in jest, but he was actually a top bloke, & I enjoyed his Company immensely.

He was impossible to get a move past, & with 10 left, I had him to my immediate right, & we were 5 handed. And I was short-stacked. So for me, it was a nightmare, but I cooey-wooeyed him big time, & he ended up giving me 3 walks, & checking down when we were in the Blinds. I love Nick.....Wink

I don't think greed is a bad thing. If it's agreed amicably, and it looked like it might, then I see no reason why Turk shouldn't aim high. Tournament poker is judged on how much money you take home in my eyes and by nature, could be seen as a greedy game.

Agree Nick is a top guy and gentle giant. Ive never seen him lose his temper once at the card table or anywhere else for that matter

I'm sure (I may be wrong here) that third place was £1,6xx.

It's hard to explain, but we''d had such fun, & it never crossed my mind to try & negotiate a better cut - or indeed even negotiate at all. I'm done with arguing, negotiating, & all that, I just want a quiet & peaceful life. I can't tell you how badly I never want to get into confrontational stuff ever again, I've had a lifetime of it, now blonde is going down that road as well, & I've more than had my fill. I enjoyed every moment of the Walsall £300, & to be honest, if the guys had wanted to lift my leg in a Deal, they were very welcome.

Great to see you on Saturday, by the way. Any good in the Cash-Game?
