I love it, pure genius Rich.
I took a mate(Oxford, daddy owned a yacht) to Sheffield to watch the snooker one year and on the way said I had arranged to meet 'mifavver' for a pint but only if he could get the ok from 'mimam'.
He asked how long I had known them and when I said eh? he asked 'the Asian couple, how long have you known them?

There are also a few words that I have come across which seem indigenous to the Nottingham area.
Nesh; one who feels the cold.
Tabs; ears.
Mardy, or mahdi; in a bad mood.

Mardy, or mahdi; in a bad mood.
Mardy is quite universal. eg: Mardy Bum - a song by Sheffield's Arctic Monkeys.

Mardy is quite universal. eg: Mardy Bum - a song by Sheffield's Arctic Monkeys. I was told once that "doing a mardy/mahdi" originates from the Mahdi of Sudan who famously performed a Nelly Melba-like retreat from the British army sometime during the 19th century.

I still occasionally slip into Nottingham slang here in Brisbane and get some of the strangest looks you can imagine! snap, tabs, cob, nesh and me duck get a regular run out luckily the wife is here to translate for me. There are also a few words that I have come across which seem indigenous to the Nottingham area.
