Have you noticed the night's are drawing in, & it's getting dark earlier now?.......

Midsummers's Day has been & gone, Xmas Day is only 185 days away.

Thanks Tikay !!!

My daughter was reading this over my shoulder and has started reeling off her Christmas list

Serves you right. How old is she, & what is her name? Boy or Girl?

In fact, if you will excuse my petrol-head tendencies for a moment....these days new tracks are springing up all over the world..Bahrain, China etc etc and what do they all have in coming? yes boring layouts...you would think the developers would deliver some signature corners, some overtaking spots etc etc but no..all soul-less.

In the UK you've got Craner curves at Donington, Brands sweeping here and there, Thruxton, Snetterton  all superb to watch

Spa in Belgium is a wonder to behold as well

but the new tracks? slowly stifling the spectator side of the sport.

Don't forget Cadwell Park - Lincolnshire's own mini-Nurburgring. Now there's a track with some soul. And the only one I've crashed at, back in my pre-children trackday days. Blasting up over the mountain before attempting to brake just enough for Hall bends before absolutely standing on the brakes for the hairpin while still recovering from the bends (with no runoff and lots of armco) is a serious adrenaline rush. Then you wind your way round a track that is surrounded by trees and feels narrower than your car before you head uphill where it completely opens up and you're taking a never ending bend at about 120mph. I get the shivers just writing that.

Oh, and on some forums I frequent it would be an insta-ban for anybody spelling Donington Donnington  Wink. Although I noticed even BBC Breakfast managed that particular error on Saturday morning.

"Donington" spelling - oops. And I only live 10 miles from the circuit! I consider myself duly shamed.

Cadwell Park - an awesome track! I went to a circuit every weekend back in the day. Brands was my favourite, (Clearways & Dingle Dell were my preferred spots, but they have stupid names now, such as Graham Hill Curve & suchlike) by far, but Cadwell Park, Oulton Park, Mallory Park (with that never-ending right-hander round the lake & death-defying left-hander just before the finishing line), Snetterton (remember "The Bomb-Hole"?), Crystal Palace (bet you don't remember that one!), though I never, never ever, bothered with Silverstone, unless I sort of "had to". Donington never existed then, so far as I know.

Nurburgring was the grand-daddy of all circuits, 17 miles was it? But seriously dangerous, & probably right to close it.

In Bike Terms, the Isle of Man was/is equally dangerous, with any "off" more than 50/50 likely to be, well, "terminal". You ever stood on Bray Hill or the Mountain & seen the Seniors zoom down on full chat? Takes your breath away.

My daughter was reading this over my shoulder and has started reeling off her Christmas list

my daughter's been compiling her's since 26th December 2007!  Everytime she sees something she fancies she says 'i'm putting that on my list'.  Poor girl's birthday is on 28th December, so she doesn't even get pressies any other time of year.

to Tikay's question - George Dubya?
