Also i had an American say to me you dont have 4th of July in England. I told him we had one every year he looked very confused.

Just bumped into Iwan Jones during the penultimate Level of Day One (b).
He was down to 6k, but went on the tear, & has 70,000 now - right up with the Big Stacks!

Roy Brindley Update.
I mentioned yesterday the impending arrival of sprog # 2 in a few weeks.
I just saw Roy & there have been developments. Mags rung from home, they are about to "induce" (what?) & he's decided to dash home so he can be there for the birthy jobbie.
He was due to play today, with play starting at Noon. He got the call at 10 minutes to 12, somehow made the dash to the Reg Desk in 6 minutes, jumped the queue, & was able to withdraw with 2 minutes to spare. $10,000 saved!
Good Luck to both Mags & Roy.

News of a Regular DTD-er.
Mr Charambolous (sp?) was spitting nails when I saw him in the Rio Exit Corridor 10 minutes ago.
There was a guy on his Table who we shall call Matey-Boy1, though that's not how our man described him. He was a big chiippie, 100k+.
He found A-K suited, & the flop of K-7-4 was fine. MB1 made it 6k, he min-Raised to 12k. The turn was the A. MB1 moved in foir some 30k, he called. MB1 says "good call", & almost mucks his cards, before Dealer reminds him there is a card to come. The River was the pesky 7.

I think he's a little tired.

An early night beckons, after a most tiring but pleasing day. I was supposed to have a day off today, but you know how it is, some stuff cropped up, & it ended up as a full day's work.
I did a terrific interview (he was terrific, not me, before you remind me....) with Lord Wernick, & Norman interviewed Devilfish. Tomorrow,
Greg
Raymer
& Daniel Negranau are lined up for Interviews, & yesterday I did
Chris
Moneymaker
&
Vicky
Coren
.
We had an impromptu but great meeting this morning with Eddie Hearn, & I bumped into Jeffrey Pollack & had a natter. I did a Live 'Phone-I to the Sky Show at 3.30pm Local, and it was the comedy duo of Compo & Boycey at the oher end, in the studio. I so wish Compo was out here.
I was very tired & busy yesterday, so never got my Blog across to Sky until this morning, but I'm back in front now, as I've sent today's already, so I can have a lie-in tomorrow. We don't start Filming until 11am, & after that, Norman & I are being filmed beating (you heard it here first) the Card Runners Boys at Ten-Pin Bowling.
Best of all, both of the
Sky
Poker
players who played today have made it through to Day Two.
J P Kelly ended the day deep-stacked, he was running amok on his Table, &
Iwan
Jones
,
Mickey
Wernick
,
John
Duthie
, &
Dave
Colclough
all went through comfortably.
Result!

The Camel made it through with around 65k as did Redmond Lee (young UK player, won the stars million in autumn last year) with about the same.

Taken at The Rio this morning by Mr Ulliott's young lady.
Pre-Emptive Warrning. Anyone who suggests a Caption Comp along the lines of "So, who has the daftest hair?", well they better tread careful. 5/4 AndrewT gets warned first?

Is he ever Offline?
Spotted in the Rio Corridor this morning, our blonde "In The Well"-er, Dave "RiverDave" Penly.
Incredibly, he told me he had not played Online out here for 2 weeks, as his Lappie has a Virus, & he sees that as a message from the Poker Gods to take a break.
Live, he said he's down "a bit" - a lot to you & me, but mere loose change to the King of Spin.

Spotted breakfast-ing this morning, the Great Grech. He's survived a good few years playing at the highest level, so he must be pretty handy, not many survive more than a few years.

In my younger years I spent a summer working on an American summer camp. They didn't get it that I didn't want to celebrate the 4th of July and one of Englands few defeats in military history.
