What a life in poker & gaming this man had had down the years. Keith "The Camel" Hawkins, pictured during Day 1b, yesterday. He had, as always, a mountain of small-denom chips, & I remarked that I guess he'd been busy as ever. He said the guy next to him had been worse & was "a pain in the bum to play". Keith should know, he's a nightmare to play against.
His life turned upide down after the birth of son Jake, whom he dotes over.
We don't see much of him these days, though he still plays what I believe is his fave Fessie of all - the 'Dam MasterClassics.
I don't know if he still keeps it, but Keith's Blog - "The Camel Ruminates" I think it was called - was one of two must-reads a few years back.
The other was "Extempore", by Paul "Dotcom" Phillips, which I think Tighty would have enjoyed. It was a stonker. Paul's IQ is probably higher than Lady Mason & Tighty combined - & that's saying something. In parallel with Camel, when Paul had his first child, Ivey, it changed his life, & he mostly quit poker, & took up, would you believe, Scrabble. He plays major Scrabble Tourneys all over America, & is very highly-rated. He's deep into Scrabble Theory, & it's a fascinating read, though, like Baseball stats, all the Scrabble "terms" are way above my head. They go for "Bingos", whatever they are, apparently. He gave me a gift of a book in Dublin a few years ago after I did him a favour, "Fermat's Last Theorem", by Simon Singh. If you enjoy the magic of maths & numbers, it's a stonking read.

I have been asked before what we in the UK do to celebrate the 4th of July.
Also i had an American say to me you dont have 4th of July in England. I told him we had one every year he looked very confused.
In my younger years I spent a summer working on an American summer camp. They didn't get it that I didn't want to celebrate the 4th of July and one of Englands few defeats in military history.
We lost America? Result, I'd say.

Steve Holden, who won his WSOP Seat in the same 8,000+ runner 'Stars Super-Sat as Pete Linton, whom I've yet to see here. I've not seen Miss Mason yet, either. I gather she played the same Super-Sat at The Rio as Steve did yesterday, Steve came up just short, but I don't know how Jen fared.

In the UK, I've seen many a Double-Header, but this, taken from my Hotel Room, is a Double-Header at the
back
of a Freight Train. Astonishing.

But it it gets better. At the front of the same freight train, they had a quintuple-header! Unbelievable, & I would not have believed it had I not seen it myself. It kept me awake all night, the very thought - 5 Locos at the front, 2 at the rear - 7 Locos in all!
I would think the two at the rear were not delivering Motive Power, the physics of "pushing" long loose-coupled freight trains is a science in itself. Remind me to talk you through it one day.

Here's Mr Ian "Crapper" Cox, with his wife, the pair of them flanking the gent in the middle, whose name you have to guess. Because, embarrassingly, I can't bring it to mind. I believe I saw him again this morning, playing 1c, & wearing a Mansion Shirt.

A veteran? OK, answer this. How many years since you placed your first bet? (And what was it, & did it win?).
I'm sorry Keith, but I'm not prepared to engage further with you if you still support those Loftus Road Louts. The Bees have it. OK?
