Is grandad on holiday or just having a well deserved rest?

Neither!

Just been absolutely pulled out, but it calms down Thursday & Friday, & I'll try & get myself up to date then.

Apologies to all those who have sent me PM's since Friday, there are a dozen or more I think, I've just not had chance to reply to any, as I've barely been Online since then. I will get them alll replied to by Wednesday evening/Thursday morning.

I did open up the Forum at about 4am Tuesday morning, but I quickly logged off within minutes when I realised it was all a bit "hot" at the time, & I just could not face dealing with all that at 4am. I'm dreading visiting the Mods Room when I return, groan.......

OK, it's 0030, just finished the Show, & I'm off to see Uncle Ned now, as I'm back here at 11am Wednesday morning to do a piece to camera on the APAT Masters. Then that's it, a brief (I hope) meeting and then a 2 day break.

I will be in Brighton on Thursday & Friday, & back here on Saturday. It's great to be busy, & I'm loving every moment. Just gotta get the balance a bit better.

Right on, T'kay. You need to recharge those batteries every now and then. My condo in Fort Lauderdale is yours when you need it.

Brighton was the Rendezvous tonight for their 15k chip £300 (in effect) Freezeout, which attracted some 60+ runners.

Faces seen (or at least, those I recall) included At It Bradley, Steve Lennon, Flushy, Sid Harris, Dave Penly, Tony Adderly, James Browning & his delightful companion Lynne Beaumont, Joe Grech, Paul Parker, Sir Peter Singleton, & Grant Mercado, of which only Penly & Grech remain.

Flushy bullied, blustered, bluffed & blundered his way up to 70k very quickly, playing every single hand (as promised), but done the lot in 2 hands, one a big outdraw, the other a cooler.

20 return at 3pm for Day Two, with Blinds at 1k-2k, RA 200, & average stack about 44k, on a 40 minute clock.

It was a beautifully managed Tourney, started on time & run to schedule, & full credit to the Rendezvous for their efforts to run a good comp.

Cardroom Manager Leo has really pulled out all the stops to do a good job. He's spammed the Fessie, appeared on "The Club" to large it up, & really went out of his way to ensure players enjoyed themselves. Apart from some regretful angle-shooting (a firm & fair ruling was made, & everyone accepted it quickly), there were no repeats of the loutish & alcohol induced bedlam that was seen at this very same Event last year. Well done Rendezvous, & Leo.

Here's the Cash-Game Board - no big deal really, prob took 20 minutes to do, but an example of the effort Leo made to ensure everyone had a great time. If a few more Cardroom Managers followed Leo's example, they'd not go far wrong.

The usual mixture of poker players in an all-night tourney take some silencing, but the entire cardroom fell silent for a minute or two at around 4am, & then, to a person, clapped & cheered this man. He'd just sung, from a sitting position, a most wonderful piece of opera - in a cardroom! It would appear he is pretty famous, being the Viennese (I think) Baritone, Klaus Kuttler, fresh from performing in Hansel & Gretel at Glyndbourne in August of this year. I believe the reason for him bursting into song was that he'd just won a nice pot at the Cash-Game, against Flushy I assume. Don't try it at home.

Playing card design is just about optimal nowadays, they are as good as they are gonna get, hard-wearing, long-lasting, easy-to-read (for most), & best of all, pretty much standard all around the world. Tens of millions of packs must have been made & used down the years.

But, as in all things, some daft bugger always comes along & wants to improve upon perfection, & this was the most odd design of card used tonight. I struggled to adapt to them for a while, but got used to them eventually. Sort of. Nobody complained though, so maybe it's just me that felt they were a bit strange.

No rush - I don't expect to survive too long. In the Tourney, I mean.

Good to see you tonight Bradders

Is that designed with ease of peeking at the corner in mind ?

If that were the case did the corner design help ?

Oh and put my name down for the DC game please Smiley

I think they introduced similar cards at last year's WSOP and there was a huge uproar about them, which eventually got them changed.

I think the problem was that players kept getting nines and sixes mixed up.

Those cards are a complete disaster to play with and Andrew's right...there was war at the WSOP over them until they canned the lot.  Can't believe they're still being used after all the bad press.
