After seeing all those wonderful bird photographs, I decided to try to get a pic or two of the ones in my "Garden".

It's really difficult, and the pics are often disappointing, even when you do manage to get close enough to get a shot without scaring the bird away. It's great fun though, and just by staying quiet and watching, you see loads of stuff you never expected to see.

This is my best effort so far. It's a hen bullfinch (Males have a red breast) feeding on winter berries.

That's a great shot Red!  They are soooo hard to keep still for photos like yours.  Well done!

Ooh! Stroke of luck. In true paparazzi fashion I managed to get her boyfriend too, not as good but nice to see the pair.

How's this for camouflage, would you notice this chaffinch if you didn't know it was there?

Wonderful photos Tom, thank you, more of the same - well, different same - please.

I'd particularly like to see a photo of "your" little Wren.

What sort of camera are you using?

I am!

I'd love to be abe to take photographs like that, & I fancy photography is a bit like poker, in that the "experts" over-complicate it with mumbo-jumbo jibber-jbber. Ask a "pro" photographer & your eyes glaze over as you listen to shutter speeds & telephoto lens speccing, but it's probably possible to get quite good photographs on a £100 digi-cam from PC World.

You should be hung drawn & quartered for even thinking about buying ANYTHING from PCWorld !

Amateur!

A Nikon F375Z with sliding aperture & 17x telephoto zoomnessness is all you need. £3k should do the job, with change.

Like everything, you get what you pay for, although why not go to a camera shop for a camera!

Took this with a fairly inexpensive zoom lens in my garden, thought it turned out ok.

I get confused from time to time (behave, please) as to the correct use of apostrophes, & so I went googling, & in the process, stumbled across this.

I don't know why, but it reminded me of Flushy, with his "succinct" PHA replies.

Works though, to be fair.
