Mrs Red bought me an almost new hoodie from Oxfam the other day. I've never had a hoodie before, but now I'm a convert. I love it.

The Thames Tunnel was not just the start of Brunel's Engineering adventures, it was very nearly the end, as he came very close to drowning, not once, but twice, when the tunnel workings flooded suddenly.

I shall go take a look at this thing of wonder. It had Shops & all sorts in it when it opened, I believe.

Ah, the Aeron chair - the dot.com chair.  Actually very comfortable, but still bloody extortionate.  If I was playing poker online every day, I'd get meself one I reckon.

Yup - & they had little rounded & lacquered wooden pegs as buttons, which fitted into eyelets. Fit for purpose, indeed.

Of COURSE. Woollen & very heavy, & freezing cold, when it rained. I looked like a para-military in mine, which I wore when I was a paper-boy. (5/- a week).

PS - 5/- = 25p, or £0.25.

Looking at the pictures posted on this and other threads I find that while the buildings,bridges and even (God help me) trains are interesting,sometimes impressive,the most "wonder full" and awe-inspiring pictures all come courtesy of Mother Nature.

Sure will, that's a promise. I'm obsessed with the sheer beauty of wildlife. If you look at those birds on that Link I Posted a week or so ago, you have to wonder "why" they were they made so beautiful, all colours, shapes & sizes, even the humble sparrow is beautiful.

Come the spring, I'm going to try & do some serious bird-watching.

Luton tonight, for the 46 runner £50 + £50, plus a 24 runner Last-Longer. (See Luton Comp Thread).

The evening began with a round of applause & a huge roar when, & trust me, it's true, Tighty somehow managed to get all his chips in the middle on the second hand of the night. He is very well liked & respected there.

Early L-L exits included Vinny, Compo, (who went on to nick £800 in the DC), & Rooks went about midway.

A young lad from Pockets, at Ware, Gary, was busting players with spectacular aplomb, left right & centre. In one coup, Bradders had Aces, I had Kings, & Gary Called the RR with 6-7, flop 8-9-T. Then he somehow managed to get 30k in pre-flop against Lalits 8-8, he had 5-6, & flopped the straight! With 12 players left, he had 81k, which was quadruple the average for the Final, (600-1,200), so it was more of a vomit than a spew for him to finish........11th!

Snat was low-chipped the entire night, & Finalled as Bottom Boy, but when I departed, he was Chip Daddy, well played him.

It was a grind the entire night for me, but the L-L Bragging Rights were all that mattered, & I hung in in true hungy style. Down to 2,900, (400-800) I Called all-in with 7-7 against two all-in-ers, they had A-K & A-Q, thty both missed, & I rivered the straight as a bonus.

A little revved up now, I shoved my now seemingly huge 8k in with 6-3, got a customer who had K-Q, I flopped trips, & rivered the straight, for which I came in for some well-deserved grief.

In the Final, Bradley (huge-chipped all night, played just terrific) caught me stealing, his A-Q dominating my Q-J, I failed to hit my 3 outer, but straighted instead.

Eventually, I made a shove (Blinds huge now) with A-T suited, but Snat was lurking behind me with the Bobbies, & that was that, 7th, for £120, plus £60 of Last-Longer.

Snat & Bradders looked to be in charge when I exited, but Lalit was still there with a great chance, too.

Once again, the Luton Usual Suspects outlasted & outgrinded the dancers.

A great, great, evening.
