yeah no F idea what happened, should be okay now

They might just be the most beautiful pics on this Diary, thank you.

The third one reminds me of a place on the Moors I visited, on the way to Whitby or somewhere that direction. It was known as The Devils Footstep or somesuuch, because of the peculiar"dip" in the contour.

Just beautiful, as is that reservoir.

the third one is called the hole of horcum, not far from Levisham

That's it - Levisham - on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, above Pickering!

Thank you, but I cannot read the sign on the gate?

Suddenly, I realised, maybe I am wrong about Christmas, maybe there is goodness amongst all the commercial tosh.

Blimey Tone, another crack in the armour.

In all seriousness Ralph it was good to see you Sunday too. I give you a gift and then you go and share it out
with the table. Great when you hit the nuts on the flop! Especially after you check the small blind then chuck the 100 in to make it up. And the flop hits you square between the eyes and some mug calls your all in.

Poker life don't get any better..

P.S  I think you were the oldest person playing on Sunday. Well done.

Seasons Greetings

I've been rendered speechless by the "cheating" thread.......I'm not often lost for words, but strewth. All that huff & puff, & folks getting upset. Over a single hand of poker, in a 25p 50p Cash Game, where, by self-admission, there was no intent to deceive.

And, because of the way it was handled - SHOUTING about it, from the rooftops, & then copy, on an Open Forum, what was, essentially, a private convo between Account-Holder & Support. Nice. One PM to me would have solved the issue in a trice. The parallels between that, & the FACT thread, are startling.

And then, a guy, a much respected Poster elsewhere, a totally decent fella, someone who clearly enjoys the game, & writes fluently & well about it on a PHA Board elsewhere, joins blonde at 9pm, only to say, a few hours later.....

no wonder no one likes posting on this site

He is of course perfectly entitled to that view, & I'm genuinely sorry he feels that. I'll be dropping him a note this afternoon to say "Hi", & express my disappointment that he does not like blonde, & to say, "hey, stick around, you may get to like it".

But if you disliked blonde, which is just fine, it begs the question.......why would you join?

There's now't as queer as us poker folk, it cannot be denied. Note, in case you think I'm attacking anyone - I'm not - the "us".

The more I understand about life, & the way our minds work, the less I understand.

Am meeting Tighty, in 10 minutes, for a blonde Meet, & then Kev is joining us at 3pm for a blonde Cardroom meeting.

Kev is coming here, to Luton, from Portsmouth, up the M3, round the M25, then up the M1. When he's finished, he going to Colchester to pick up his Lad & take him back to Pompey for Crimble. So Kev will be doing, it seems to me, a complete, total, every single painful yard, circuit of the M25 today. Medal for Kev, sheesh.

And when they have both gone, that's it, bar a little Comp at Luton tomorrow, a clear road to Christmas Day. The great thing about Christmas Day being that one day later, it's Boxing Day, life resumes, & Xmas is done & dusted for another year.

I've promised Thewy I'll go & see his family in the morning, as I always try to on Christmas Eve, his Mum has come across from Dublin, Amanda will be all New-Mumsy, Reuben, Barny & Hal (Hal!) will be there, I've yet to meet Hal yet. Expect a baby 'photo tomorrow. Dylan, the Thew-cat, is, sadly, no longer with us, he went to Cat-Heaven this year.

I made something of a tit of myself this morning.

I had a Meeting with a Big Suit, at a huge office in London. Put a crisp white shirt & smart jacket on, the works.

We decided it would be best if we met somewhere we could talk quietly, alone, & it was 11am, so we went & sat in the huge on-site Canteen/Restaurant. BIG place.

We chatted away, the time passed, & the Canteen started to fill up with Diners, no prob, we had a private table on our own.

And then......

Suddenly, a choir started singing. A bloody choir, ffs.  Singing. Christmas Carols. I was well tilted, is there no escape from this Christmas nonsense, anywhere?

Eventually, we finished our Meet, & we needed to walk past the Choir, to the Exit.

I looked at them, all kids, all wearing matching "ChickenShed" T Shirts. All young, two in wheelchairs, singing their hearts out. A little black girl was playing the recorder, as nervous as a kitten, and several kids with various physical handicaps were heartily singing away.

And I could not help myself - I burst into tears, there & then. Which was a bit embarrassng, when Mr Suit spotted me piping my eye. Those kids were just so pure, so innocent, doing their thing in life, it just caught me all wrong.

Suddenly, I realised, maybe I am wrong about Christmas, maybe there is goodness amongst all the commercial tosh. I'm actually scared of Christmas, I just want it to be yesterday, I'm not sure why really, but I am. I have not purchased an Xmas pressie or Card, for anyone, for over 20 years, I just feel so uncomfortable about the whole thing. Roll on Friday.

I looked up "ChickenShed" this afternoon - they have their own Wikipidea page, they are quite famous, & are a Registered Charity.

I've covered a whole lot of ground in my time, been to lot of places, metaphorically speaking, but I've missed a lot, too.

Bit late now, & no regrets. Well, just a few.

All we need is the ghosts of christmas to appear and we've got our own real life scrooge story. Don't get excited though Mods - you will still be expected to work on Christmas Day.

I went to see, almost by tradition on Xmas Eve, The Family Thew, at Thew Towers, yesterday. Only Thewy could live in "Julian Road", (really!) that boy runs so damn good.

Hal is now 13 days old, & he slept on my lap for fully 2 hours. He's very small, 7lb 12lbs I think, & says very little. Lacking in his Dad's personality, it must be said. He just sleeps & burps.

The plans for the extension to Thew Towers are most impressive - the Extension will be bigger than the house, & it's all very Thewy, new school & funky. He should get change from a quarter of a mill......

Food was everywhere, but posh stuff. Stinky blue cheese, pork pies, sausage rolls, ham, everything.

Pre Bed, Reuben had to write his letter to Santa, & leave it by the fireplace for Santa, with some mince pies, carrots, & a glass of milk for Rudolph. WTF?

The pictures of Hal are with Julian's Mum, who makes the best roast dinner in Dublin.

That's Reuben with Hal, & Barny is the one by the telly.

Barny sleeps in a sleeping bag - I'm not sure Amanda & Thewy understand parenting. A sleeping-bag, for goodness sake.

A lovely afternoon.

Merry Christmas Thewy.
