More Poker Lingo.
How much fun is it to read the stuff the kids write now? Saw this today......
played with villain for a bit, only 1 notable pot before where i 3b junk in bb v button open, he called and shoved ott of my cbet on an A73rbow board. Iv been splashing a bit and image is more artful dodger than scarlet pimpernell.
I am not sure what is better on the turn v a 20/15/32% agg factor type. Normally a standard double barrel spot v non-habitual floaters obv.
that's why I stay away from Alex's
posts...I have no idea what the hell he's asking
Oh no, it all makes sense.
He's a splashing, agg, double-barreled floater.
Surely you know what that means?
Obviously I know that part!...It's whatever Flushy says it is.

During the next week daytime temperatures throughout the UK are not expected to rise above +1c.
At night, it will drop to -10c, as it did last night in parts of Scotland.
A keen wind will knock 5 degrees off those temperatures due to that new invention called "wind chill factor".
Think about the old people. Please.

Incredibly, yes, I'm entitled to claim it, though I do not. Too embarrassing.
I believe Karabiner is entitled to it, too.
If we lived in a half-decent, caring, society, the Utilities would give all pensioners free gas, water & leccy.

I have watched every single news bulletin I can, & read every (worthwhile) newspaper article, on the current tragic events in the Gaza Strip.
It is desperate - absolutely desperate.
I have no interest, or care, & won't debate, who is to blame. It does not matter to me.
It does matter to me, though, that as seems to be the way these days, civilians - in Gaza, & in Israel, are being killed & maimed. 5 young girls, sisters, were killed last night. Imagine the hoohah if that happened over here.
My whole life has been tainted by the Ireland situation, & the Palestinian/Isreali impasse. And meanwhile, in Zimbabwe, civilians are starving to death, dying of cholera, being persecuted, while the "modern world" stands by & wrings it's hands, "ooh, stop it Mr Mugabe, or we won't talk to you".
It's always the regular civilians who pay the bill in these things. It's just desperate.

My bro in law Dick had a foal born on Christmas day. In view of the weather forcast, we might bring him and his mam in for a few days. Not really necessary, but we're getting soft in our old age.
Will try to get some pics.

Is that Dick Hotpot?
Yes, pictures, please, Tom.
By the by, I'm very surprised the Foal was born at Christmas.
In Thoroughbred Racing, all Foals are "designed" or planned to be born in the Spring, January or February ideally, but NEVER before January 1st, because of w-f-a & such like. Is that not so with Gypsy horse stock?

Warren "Lush The Gush" sent me some spiel about the upcoming Irish Open today, the usual corporate stuff, no doubt snoops will put it on the Main Site shortly.
Here's an extract though.
".....Organizers have recently confirmed that they have added another ‘main event,’ in the form of a singing contest. Simon Cowell will be quaking in his boots as the Devilfish, Jon ‘Skalie’ Kalmar and Kenna James take to the microphone!
A PartyPoker.com spokesman said: “The Radisson SAS Hotel on Galway Bay is soundproofed and ready to go – we’re just surprised that there is no sign of Marcel Luske yet. In all seriousness, however, this promises to be a fun spectacle. Skalie used to be the lead singer of a punk band, the Devilfish is well known for his excellence in tinkling the ivories, while Kenna James has recorded his own material and received great reviews. We suspect that no matter how good they are though that whoever steps up to sing the first Irish song is likely to get the best reception! The identity of the judging panel is currently a closely guarded secret......”
As it happens, I went to a party in Chorleyville once, lasy year I think, on Mrs Kalmar's birthday, & Skalie got up on stage with his re-formed for the night punk rock band. And he was just really, really, good, as punk acts go. He delivers & projects his voice Johnny Rotten style - he did "God Save the Queen" actually - superb.

We usually try to serve them so that they foal in the spring, but the horses don't always cooperate. (They are female after all)
The mare that foaled on Christmas day will come over 'ossin (Come into season) in a few days, but we won't let her mate until the end of April, then her next foal will be born at the beginning of April next year.

Thanks.
As you say, mares (females) don't always co-operate in these matters. Now & then, a thoroughbred foal is born, or about to be born, before January 1st, & all helll is let loose. It's stallion potential is immediately nullified, as is it's Flat racing career.
When it gets "touch & go" as to the date, all manner of un-natural delaying tactis are used to delay the birth until after Midnight, on December 31st. I imagine a fair bit of skullduggery as to the actual birth-date also takes place.
It does often get VERY close though, as it's very much to the foal's advantage, as a potential Racehorse, to be born as near as possible to (but after) January 1st, especially as many foals are not born until April or May.
For administrative reasons, the birth date, & thus birthday, of EVERY Thoroughbred Racehorse is January 1st. Gonna be a big party in the Stables on Thursday!

It makes a massive difference in early 2yo races in the spring. Those foaled in January are around a third older than those foaled in May, which is a big ole chunk.

It may surprise you to know - no, it WILL surprise you to know - that I get asked frequently, almost every week, the same question. "Why don't you Post more on the PHA Board".
And I tell them the same thing, every time, I'm out of step with current thinking, & I get ridiculed by the flamers something shocking. Not flaming flamed, just mocking flamed. Which I can handle, but it's bad for the PHA Board, & especially the Learning Centre, to see that sort of thing. You cannot believe how many PM's I get asking for Hand Advice, & I say "why not put it on PHA?". And they say, (words to the effect) "no, because some spotty 12 year old will just say "lol", & I'lll feel daft".
So I ventured onto the Learning Centre today, and answered the most basic of questions.
And it's going surprisingly well so far. OK, I'm losing 21-1 to the Dancers, but there's time yet, I could make late headway, & get another Post in my favour, maybe even two.
Hope springs eternal. And old people are stubborn.

And as a PS to the above, we have yet to be visited by Flushy, Rooks, Mantis, & the Artful Scarlet Martin.
I may go further behind the count before I start my comeback.
