My life just wouldn't be the same without the knowledge TK shares on page 789...It was like I had an epiphany, it just all came together....you have to read it!
Please tell me I'm not the only one sad enough to scroll back to check if this was true, only to find it wasn't.
Aww, bless ya.

WTF?
My Yahoo e-Mail Account has been a right shambles this week, frequently doing "odd" things. Today, when signing in, I came up against this missive,& I almost (mistakenly) clicked the deceptive "GO TO MAIL NOW" hand-grenade. But you gotta love "actual increased speed may vary". Decoded, "we made it up".
30% FASTER!
"YOU KEEP YOUR

AND ENJOY THE UK VERSION OF YAHOO!
** By clicking, "GO TO MY MAIL NOW" I agree to move my Yahoo! account to the UK and I accept the Yahoo! UK Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, and the Mail Terms of Service.
* Average increase for accounts moved to Yahoo! UK. Actual increase for your account may vary.
I don't want to change. I don't like change. I don't need change. I never asked to change. I'm still trying to fathom my new damn 'phone, which I'm sure is a complete & utter pup.
These toerags want to manipulate me. They can whistle.
RESIST CHANGE.

And now, when I open Yahoo, a little bloody box comes up.
"Chris would like to add you to his contacts".
Chris who? What contacts?
It seems to be Yahoo Messenger. WTF is Yahoo Messenger?
I did not - ever - sign up to Yahoo Messenger. I don't want Yahoo Messenger. Why would I? - I have a 'phone, a PM box, an e-Mail addy. The Internet owns us, controils us, manipulates us, or wants to.
And now, every time I click anything on Yahoo, that bloody box pops up, & I have to click "x" to get shot of it.
It's an invasion of my personal rights, or my civil liberties. Or something.

Yes, but that's not opting in, it's just failing to opt out.
If they want to use those tactics, let them start with organ donation.

That would depend upon which "They" you are referring to.

And THEN another box came up. MSN, I think.
A good friend was wanting to "MSN" to me.
Where did that MSN thing suddenly arrive from? I had to sign up to MSN for Sky Poker purposes 2 years ago, but I never used it, not once, & don't know my "handle" on MSN, nor do I wish to. In fact, I refuse to be a slave to MSN.
The friend then got hold of me by conventional means, & asked why I'd ignored their MSN thingie. I said "I don't know my name". They replied "your name is tikay". Lol, helpful, if nothing else!
This is all very odd. I'm alone, nobody knows where I am, or what I'm doing. Which is how it should be. But now I can't be alone, ever, anywhere. MSN's gonna find you.
I cannot even - apparently - deny getting the MSN message. "I can see you can see it" is the line, it seems.
My "friend" is a special friend. They can ring me, text me, e-Mail me, 'phone me, 24/7. The more, the better, honestly.
But privacy, keeping oneself to oneself, seems to have disappeared. We go Online, & the whole world knows. WTF?
I do hope my friend does not misconstrue this - it's about how the Internet is taking over, & controlling, our lives, not personal.
Nowhere to hide.
And then there's that curse on civilisation, that time-sponge, Facebook. I dare not even start to discuss my thoughts on that pile of useless, time-eating, poo.
"X has slapped you with a kipper". Fascinating. I dread to think what TV programmes they watch, or books they read.
And just don't mention Twitter. PLEASE.
Do we control the internet, or does it control us?
Gotta go - a box has popped up on Yahoo.

Lol!
Yes, I'm a tad tetchy today. How did you know?
And that bloody 'phone you got me is useless.
Anbd you were SUPPOSED to sort me out a new Lappie, months ago, too - what hapened to that? And remember, I want it to be IDENTICAL to the one I have. It's served me well for 8 years, & I don't want some new-fangled heap of poo.
And that Internet Explorer Upgrade you did to my Lappie - GET RID OF IT. It's horrible.
PS - Do some work. And Good Luck tonight.

That 'Chris' bloke on the yahoo must be getting around because the same one popped up when I opened my own yahoo the other day. Just decline the invite and you won't see it again.
