All joking aside, is it glorified dog food, or is it actually safe to eat?

Americans eat it so it must be safe to eat.

Not really. Much drier/chewier. And it's just lean beef, rather than pork/beef/fat/etc/etc all squashed into a sausage.
I have to say I'm extremely surprised as to the lack of jerky knowledge displayed here. I really thought better of you lot
. Most supermarkets sell it, usually hung up around the crisps/snacks section. I've no doubt any loud Americans on here would decry this stuff as not as good as the genuine US product (although I suspect it's all made in the US anyway
). And any South Africans will no doubt claim
Biltong
is better.
I prefer biltong...but the quality differs, so it has to be good stuff. Maybe I've only had lower quality jerky?

Maybe you should pay Kev more than £2 for a "jerky" next time?

I haven't looked at the link - but does it involve basically taking some perfectly well cooked beef - and carrying on cooking it until it's all dried and wrinkled?
Because that's what the description sounds like.
not 100% sure, but I wouldn't have thought it would be cooked.

I think it's cured and dried rather than cooked. Some people on another forum have just started making their own (as well as trying the bacon explosion too).

It's just 'treated' with salt and stuff and then dried. The good stuff is excellent food to have after exercising as it's high in protein.

You're right Claire - it's dried raw meat.

I'm rather partial to jerky and I was happy enough with the decent stuff over here (some can be quite dire...) Annoyingly, Mum brought me back some from Canada a few months ago which reminded me how vastly different it can be, now I can't face the English stuff again.
All is ok though, Mum is back in Canada again, I've sent a shopping list with her this time

I went to watch Prizefighter last night Tikay, a Matchroom jobbie I think you'd call it - at Earl's Court. Your work colleague was there and looked incredible. I think Michelle Orpe was in attendance too.
How does she keep her hands off in between filming eh?
Kind Regards,

Thanks for all the feedback on Wild Jacks Beef Jerky, the Presenters of the 2009 WSOP.
I can honestly say I'd never heard of Jack, or his Jerky, so in that respect, I suppose you could say the Marketing is working.
Several replies suggested that Jerky was available in regular UK Supermarkets. Do you really think I frequent Supermarkets? Motorway Service Stations FTW.
A Sponsor/Presenter & the Event need to sort of match - Ford Super Sunday on Sky Sports, The Emirates Stadium, are both examples of classy products with classy sponsors. It's gonna take a while to get my head round the 2009 World Series of Poker Presented by Wild Jacks Beef Jerky.
Oh, & don't forget the tag-line. Feed your wild side.
