Wasn't going to play this today but as there is now a £250 overlay maybe I will.

If I decide to play it definitely.
Not 100% sure. Played yesterday's and I'm a bit pokered out tbh.
Was a great game though. The structure works great with the early start if there's only 60 runners.

My first (& probably last) "proper" game in ages, I've been a bit busy, & I'm really excited about it. Playing less = more as to how much I am enjoying what little proper poker I play these days.
The weekend plans are a bit vague, as we were due to film at DTD on Sunday, but that's all up in the air now - it could be Sunday, could be Saturday, could be both. We shall see.
Good Luck to all the blondes in the Biggie, especially Ding. A result for her in that would be really special for her.
OK, off to DTD now, Tom will be there about the same time as me, & I'm gonna ring Karabiner & try & do a job on him.

Here's a PokerRadio Interview Rob Yong gave yesterday. It's a jaw-dropper.
Listen up, see how he gets things in perspective, as to the overlay in his Grand Slam Leg One, whether the other 2 Grand Slams will go ahead, the GC, the new Casino Tax & it's incredibly serious implications for DTD.
The man should be Knighted for services to Poker, he really should.
One of the best interviews you will ever hear.

Bit of a sad reflection on society really that people as scrupulous and honourable as Rob Yong have become a rarity. I've only met him once when I was sat in the bar at DTD (I hadn't busted out, the game hadn't started yet) not long after it had opened. Rob walked by and I complimented him on the club and without us asking he promptly gave my friend and I a tour of the place. Would be a terrible shame if DTD were to become unsustainable as a consequence of an ill thought out casino tax.
As far as Rob not playing in the other two 'biggies' if there were over-lays, that's understandable given his principles, but I doubt if there would be anyone who would begrudge him the opportunity to play and essentially win back the over-lay. I can't imagine there being a more popular winner actually. I hope he reconsiders if those events are under-subscribed again. Feel very bad for Rob, very depressing given how much he has done for poker players of all levels for him to receive such a hefty kick in the bollocks by the Government who have no idea what poker is all about anyway.
As a last resort could Rob not stand for election? As an MP he could then put the whole deficit on expenses. It's a club that offers a fantastic opportunity to talk to the electorate after all which is no more tenuous justification for his claims than the guy with the ducks and filthy moat.

What a great Post, & especiallly the part I have enboldened.
I sense a "Let's Back Rob/DTD" campaign if this tax thing really is as sinister as Rob's interview suggests.
He also alluded to the biggest anomoly of all - that he spent all that money getting a full licence, got objections from several majors chains, & yet, even now, 2 years on, there are 30+ illegal Poker Rooms in the UK, to which the GC, & the majors, have continued to turn a blind eye. Meanwhiile, DTD spend a fortune on "Compliance" to ensure they don't get the wrong side of the GC.
WTF?

So, my first proper Event in an age yesterday, the perfectly structured
DT
D
£250, I got chips early, thanks to a bunch of nice hands & plenty of luck, but then fell victim to poor self-discipline, pre-ejaculation, & ring-rustiness, & made a right pigs ear of it.
Was having so much fun, too, on a lovely Table, that's the real annoying thing, & it was all self-inflicted, "user error".
Byron was on my Table - really pleased to share a Table with him,
Alan
Stearn
- one of the nicest & most generous men you'll ever meet in poker - and the fish himself, Evil Pie. Who won our Last-Longer, sigh. And milked it, big time. He'll be sorry.
I made some daft calls early, & hit a few, made one daft move (9-5) & got re-Raised behind. I made to theatrically count out a re-re-raise, & the guy told me after he'd have folded if I'd pulled the trigger. He had Kings, I have Premiership Nit image, but no balls.
I found Kings, & made it 450 or so. Mr Tight, behind me, popped it to 1,675. I so nearly smoothed him, but bottled it, did all the Oscar stuff, then re-raised, he shoved, I called, we both had the same hand. Almost.....
I had
He had
The flop?
Thank the Lord I never smoothed it! Choppity-chop.
But, a while later, sitting pretty with 14k, I had a moment of madness.

I forgot to mention a weird hand early, involving a very strong Laddo, & Byron.
Byron had a set, but the K-high Board 3-Flushed in spades, & Laddo got Byron off, then, rather ungraciously I thought, flashed a red A. "No hand". I was thinking what a daft play that was by Laddo - it was for his Tourney, & 95% of players in DTD make that Call, but Byron was "good enough" to make what turned out to be a bad Pass. Thankfully, Byron fought back, & was soon in good shape. (Though not for long).
So while I'm still busy thinking what a bad play that was, I proceed to donk off 8k in spectacular fashion.
A quiet guy, "weak-looking", whatever that is, (top bloke though), round the back, Raised my BB. Small Raise, I had no need to get involved, but I fancied kicking on (way too early) so decided to take a flop & see how things developed. I can get this guy off a lot of hands with my image. At least, that was my thinking. I had K-T.
The flop came 6-7-9, so I am on 2 overs, & a gutshot. One or both of the overs could be dead though. I check, after some acting.
He bets small, I do the acting thing again, & eventually, after making out I was thinking of Raising, Call. Slow him down, like. I'm pretty sure now he does not have much, & I can take this on the Turn.
The Turn was (almost) exactly what I wanted - not the gutshot 8, but another 9. Perfect, that's the Card I can rep. A confident & aggrressive check from me now.
He does some acting of his own, some dwellage, then makes it 1,600. Happy Days. Gotcha! I mean, he can't have the 9 here, he just can't, not even A-9 is possible from this guy in early position.
So I make it 4,000. And my man snap shoves.
So when I say he can't have the 9.......bugger. I give up.
He had J-9, & I just could not put him in that in a month of Sundays.
I like my move there - as long as he does not have the 9, I'm home & hosed. But he did. Tom said afterwards, my move works if the 9 does NOT fall, but without the 9, I don't think I have the minerals to pull the trigger.
So, I liked my move, but hated the actual decision to get involved in the first place. There was just no need, it was schoolkidz stuff. What a donkey.
Down to 5k, I need to move now, & found a spot quite soon, at 100-200 (RA 25), when it went Limp, Limp, Alan Strearn makes it 800, & there is an all-in man behind me. I have A-J. My stack is an awkward size, so I decide to jam, & Alan will let go, I'm pretty sure of that.
But Alan had A-K, so made the perfectly standard & correct Call, whilst the All-In Man Tabled J-J.
Way to go, get your money in as a 96% dog.
Today we will mainly be a genuine Nit, just grinding. No moves, no nothing.

Saw some old friends at
DT
D
yesterday, including Craig (I KNOW IT) Wildman, who looks so young, I think he's had a makeover, and Lucky
Jim
Moult
, aka bookiebasher.
Jim & I reminisced aboiut a wonderful trip to Deauville 4 or 5 years back. It was Jim's first big overseas poker trip, & we travelled with Thewy & Stu Fox.
I got 5th or 6th in the €500, & semi-finalled in my only EPT, and Jim finished a spot ahead of me in the €500, & chopped the €1,000, giving a black eye to
Devil
fish
&
Willie
Tann
in the process. What a great trip that was.
Jim won about €40,000 on the trip, which then disappeared in THE most bizarre circumsatances. Suffice to say, never hide money behind wardrobes if your missus is inclined to move stuff around......
Great to see Jim, who reads blonde everey single day. He goes to Vegas same day & flight as me this year, so that's neat, too.
OK, off to donk away another £250 at
DT
D
now.
