Its a bit crazy down their already, there is actually a barrier/rail for just the Journalists to stand behind, but this will prove impossible to police as the public want to catch a glimpse of the action.  Anyway I like breaking rules, I shall keep trying to get as close as possilble before I grabbed by the scruff of my neck.

They kicked off about 15 mins ago and there was the inevitable swarm of "scribble boks" (the wonderful word I have heard branded about for bloggers) hovering around Eric Friberg.  With the blinds starting at 1,500 / 3,000 and a 300 ante, Friberg with 7,000 wasn't gonna wait for long, especially investing 1,500 first hand in the small blind.

The first hand started with Surinder raising up to 8,000, Friberg choosing THIS was his moment and moving his remaining 5,500.  Florian Langmann in the big blind makes the call for 8,000.  The flop came

  Two Clubs

The two boys check checked

on the turn made Langmann bet 13,000 and Surinder got ou the way,  on their backs and Friberg see's his fate as he is shown    for the flopped pair.  Friberg's  was no good and he has left the Vic first hand and 40th.

Next to hit the deck after the inevitable decking of Erik Friberg was Thomas Tollund, another victim of what could today's the table of death.

Understandably all-in with , an Adidas-clad cap-wearing Tollund stumbled headfirst into the Pocket Rockets of Irishman Alan Smurfit, the bracelet winner's attire and mannerisms directly contrasting to that of his younger Scandinavian foe.

And after the dealer whisked out a board, only the Cowboy on the Turn beaming out any ray of hope, it was a victory ofor the old school with Smurfit looking to match his successes of last Summer in Vegas.

Richard Ashby is indeed out, pushing with A-Q but being called in two places, one of whom was my pick for the tournament Marcel Baran who eliminated Chufty with Pocket Sevens.

Martyn Reeve has enjoyed a solid start, his 11k bet on a Flop enough to force Christopher Andler to fold. The Welshman rested his chin upon his hands, as if entangled in prayer, so perhaps he was seeking assistance from the Poker Gods.

Meanwhile, we have lost PokerStars qualifier Jasper Joris, who had his love spheres sliced and diced by the meat grinder with Aces versus Jacks, the Pocket Knaves finishing with a rather vomit-inducing flush. Ouch, what a time to take a beat.

Shane Reihill has just been eliminated. There was a ferocious crowd of onlookers surrounding the table, and they were rather reluctant to let me see the hand, but through a slight nook of sweaty bodies I did spot that it was 8-7 vs. K-8 on a board with two Kings. Pretty decisive in the end.

During one of my journeys between card- and pressroom, we lost Swedish player David Sonelin leaving poor neighbour Stuart Nash sitting on his tod like a showerless marathon runner.

We were on the money bubble for a little while and sadly OUT on the bubble in 33rd place is Carlo Citrone.  He was quite low with around 22,000 and made the push with  but Pokerstars qualifier Vijayan Nagarajan woke up with  .

A very non Queen or straightening board for Carlo and he has left with nothing.

31 players remaining, Mehmet Cinar biting the dust at the hands of local hero Ken Wong.

Prior to that departure, the average chip stack was 123,500.

During the break I managed to catch up with an adrenalin pumped Ben Grundy, perhaps eying up that first place after many so near yet so far performances. If he can pool together all that experience and, as he put it, "avoid the blowup", then there's no reason why he shouldn't be one of the favourites.

At the moment, he is on 280k, so certainly heading in the right direction, although he did seem a little disappointed that his Kings weren't paid off when the Big Blind found Jacks. "He just flat-called, so it could have been a lot more. And the flop came Ace high too, so it slowed down the action. I bet on the River thinking he had a hand like Jacks, but he made a good read and passed."

-------------

If you're wondering why Stuart Nash is only on 65k, then it's because of this hand: Flat-calling on the button with A-T, Stuart Nash and the Big Blind saw an Ace high Flop with two spades. Both players opted for a sneaky check, only for the Turn to come another Ace, but a third spade. The Big Blind bet out 5k, Stuart made it 15k and the Big Blind called. A seemingly harmless hit the River, triggering a bet of 30k from Mr Big Blind. Slightly reluctant but holding a strong hand nonetheless, Stuart called, only to be met by A-9.

The big delay in action restarting is the set up of the TV feature table.  They have taken there seats and looks like a mouth watering line up:

Anythony Lellouche
Katja Svendson
Pascal Perrault
Daniel Mangas
Fuat Can
Chris Moneymaker
Roland Dewolfe
Joseph Mouwad

Its restarted and the blinds are still in the 2,000 / 4,000 level with 400 ante.

I'm getting pushed and shoved at the moment, but I did manage to get close enough to two tables to accrue rough chip counts:

Table 1:

Alan Smurfit -- 120,000
Josh Egan -- 45,000
Javed Abrahams -- 90,000
Surinder Sunar -- ?
Jason Hackett -- 65,000
Marc Goodwin -- 61,000
David Obrobac -- 128,000
Florian Langmann -- 125,000

Table 2:

Stuart Nash -- 25,000
Ian Cox -- 120,000
Peter Petersen -- 130,000
Vijayan Nagarajan -- 105,000
Ken Wong -- ?
Nicky Roeg -- 80,000
Fredrik Haugen -- 125,000

Stuart Nash is OUT.

Fredrik Haugen raised to 12,000 pre-flop, Stuart Nash pushed all-in for 16,300 and Peter Petersen made it 32,000 more in the blind. Haugen called and all three players saw a two spades Flop.

Petersen checked and Haugen bet out 40k, enough to make Petersen fold.

Haugen =

Nash =

Turn =

River =
