We were discussing the Absolute poker scandal at work and of course the question was asked would you use the facility to look at players hole cards if you had the ability?

No, rather make a constant profit from rake than get it by foul means which some bright spark with poker tracker will spot easily and risk site losing its clients.

it's a bit like an athlete using drugs - once you are found out you can't play again - so, NO.

No way, no how. It's stealing...plain and simple.

Hmmmmm, I answered 'no' in the poll, but with so many people answering 'yes', I've been thinking more about it. The ONLY reason I would even consider saying yes, is so I could watch successful players and learn from them. I would NEVER use the facility for financial gain. Would be interesting to know how many of the 'yes' votes were strictly for financial gain and how many were thinking along the lines of 'watch and learn'. Maybe I'm a bit naive, but I'd like to think there's more to the 'yes' votes than plain greed.

I replied yes very quickly - greed taking over - but in the cold light of day would I really? No - the thought of actually stealing does it for me - I couldn't take their money and enjoy it if I've done it unfairly.
Although I would do it once just to see if it was true, and then just once more to check the first time was correct....I think human nature dictates that we check the information - or is it just me?

No way Jose.
Where would be the pleasure & satisfaction in "winning" that way? OK, I know, it's free money (in the short-term), but I like to sleep at night, & I don't like stealing or conning others.
Do as thy would be done. Would you like it done to you?

I answered Yes, but only so I could watch and learn, in terms of financial gain no. But i'm sure it would be tempting if it were available..

I have actually surprised myself with a long thought out answer.. It's a NO. You sometimes say to yourself "I'd love to know what my opponent has" as he pushes all in. But I love this game and part of the game is the battle of wits and the satisfaction of 'getting it right'. I don't play very big stakes on-line, but even if I had the opportunity to use a cheat in a big stake game I would not do it. If I get my decision wrong its all part of the learning curve which makes this great game great.
