He's got to tread carefully though today, as he's sharing felt space with Juha Helppi, Ram Vaswani and the ever-consistent Ian Cox. The hand in question perhaps a hint of how Florian made that final table, his check-raise to 3,500 from Helppi's 1,200 bet on a Flop ridding the hand of both the Fin and smooth caller John Flanagan further down the table.

Nobody will be kicking my Scrabble winning ass anytime soon, although rumour has it that Ram Vaswani will have plenty of time to practice this week as he's just bitten Irish EPT dust. News spreads quicker than Summerbay in this pressroom, but according to that 90% reliable grapevine, Ram was all-in on the Turn with a mere gutshot, which ultimately missed.

I guess he truly he is one of those guys who like to gamble early doors in order to accrue a chip-leading stack.

Yes its indeed true.  Think most people missed the action live but I managed to ask Ian Cox who was Ram's table mate how the action went.  Most people on the table didn't seem to know and were all shell shocked at the quickness of events.  The flop in question was:

 

Ram called a 2k bet on the flop holding    The turn brought

   where the action was checked to Ram who then pushed the lot in.  Mateyboy called with  and Ram's ultra aggresive push was not rewarded by the river.


Final figure for today is actually 132 players by the way!

Brace yourself for a truly bizarre hand, folks, and one which even triggered table observer Roland de Wolfe into saying, "I've never seen a hand like that before."

It all started so innocently, everyone limping around to Ali Mallu in the small blind. Ali bet 225 with Aces, as you might expect, only for everyone to fold. Either expressing his frustration of not reaching the Flop or simply wanting to show the table that he had the goods, Ali revealed his hand, but was then informed by the dealer that Raul Mestre Lleida, seated the other side of the dealer, had called from the button in Seat 9.

A stunned silence ensued, until the dealer broke the eerie quiet by exclaimed "Ruling!". As always, Thomas Kremser strode over like the King of England ready to utilise his experience in the field of tournament directing. "Tell me exactly what happened," he demands. After the dealer had retold the tale, Thomas adds in a monotone, but highly authoritative voice, "Okay, the hand is live and play will continue."

On that note, the dealer dealt out a Flop. "Can I bet?" asks Mallu. After receiving the approving nod from Big TK, Ali bet out 200, but ran into an inevitable re-raise from the Spaniard Lledia who made it 2k to play, a bet of which prised an unreluctant giggle from Roland and a couple of others on the table, the Wolfman even commenting, "I'm putting him (Ali) on Aces."

However, those giggles soon turned into gasps as Ali rose from his chair dominantly and shoved all his chips across the line. Lleida called like lightening, which was probably a signal that he was ahead, and proudly turned over . Funnily enough, Ali didn't need to go to the effort of turning his cards over, the dejected look on his face telling a more extensive story than anything on the felt ever could.

However, we all know how much fun the Poker Gods can have at our expensive, and with a small crowd of poker flies gathering around the table, the dealer dealt out first a harmless , followed by a counterfeiting , a River that I was secretly hoping for if only for the sadistic entertainment value rather than any subjective bias.

Basher Mallu jumped into the heavens and punched the air with delight as his Spanish foe looked on in dismay, his fly catching mouth-gaping expression fully expressing his feelings of dismay. A pumped up Mallu mumbled celebrations to himself as all onlookers glanced back down at the felt in amazement.

So, a double up for the Brit, but what do you think of the hand? And what about the ruling, was that the correct decision?

i guess kremser knows the rules better than any of us, but i always thought u could call but not bet/raise if you had exposed your cards. very strange one though
