Ever try to find a gift for 'the couple who have everything'?  I'm in that predicament at the minute.  My Mom and her husband...they don't want for anything, and have the money to buy whatever they want before the rest of us get a chance.  I'd like to get them something nice, unusual, whatever...you get the idea, but it has to be shipped to America.  I've been searching the web with the past week, but my brain's gone into 'mush mode' after looking at so many rubbish 'gift ideas' as suggested by the various sites.

No pets, but they have deer out the back yard that call to them every day for a bit of corn.  Own their own home with a jacuzzi.  They're nearing retirement age.  They don't drink alcohol.  He loves golf...she's learning to.  They eat out a lot because they can't cook to save their lives and they do a fair bit of travelling.  The kids used to make them things for Christmas when they were younger, but they've gone past that stage and I reckon Mom is running out of space to display their 'work' anyway.  lol

I'd usually spend weeks tearing through the shops until I found 'that something special' to include with the kid's gifts, but can't get to the shops this year and have to rely on internet shopping.  Soooooooooooooooo, any suggestions?  I'm running out of time and a card with some grovelling is looking pretty good right about now.  lol

Something from Amazon.com and get them to gift wrap it and send it direct would save you shipping problems.

I have no idea what though lol Cheesy

This looks amazing  Bit expensive maybe, but it's a great idea imo.  Wonder if they have plans for it in the UK

You say they eat out a lot. arrange with their favourite restaurant or a good restaurant  near to them to pay for a meal for them.

They have everything, and need for nothing, then they will be grateful whatever you decide for them.

Laxie,

if they want for nothing in terms of what money can buy, give them something money cant buy. I have no idea if you have kids or not, but I seem to think you do , I presume your mum will be fiercely addicted to your children, so (assuming you have a camcorder/can get hold of a camcorder) why dont you record a DVD of all your kids (and you) giving her a loving christmas message telling her how much you all love her and wish you were with her at christmas... maybe conceal this in a chocolate box to add to the surprise/excitement. I'd guess she will be glad to see the chocoloates and that you thought of her, but would be over the moon to open it up and see a DVD, put it in the DVD player, and see her family telling her how much they love her and miss her.

Laxie,

Some ideas I have used in the past most take time but could be used in future years.

Desert Island Discs - send a questionnaire to friends and family of intended asking for the 8 fav tunes, book and luxury item.  Buy the tunes (Cough Download) burn to CD write up listing even buy the books if you feeling extravagant and you have a nice present.

Same sort of thing can be done for this is your life - get friends and family to pen a few words, give some photo's etc and collate into a book - this one got lots of kudos.

This year I have taken the This is your life book at bit further using www.lulu.com and have had the book printed and i have to say the service and quality is amazing well worth a look for some future celebration.

Good luck.
