Pokerstars.com EPT Prague: Day 3 - At A Glance
«
on:
December 13, 2007, 01:35:25 AM »
Today our 32 remaining competitors will play down to a final 8, for the 3pm final on Friday. The relatively early finishes allow us to go out and sample some of Prague's restaurants, last night, it was Maria and myself, Marc from Gutshot, Benjo, Neil the Stars photographer, Mad Harper, Owen and Arthur from Pokerlistings and Micky from Pokernews who found ourselves in this steakhouse called the 'Crazy Cow'. Mad was telling us about how she first got involved in the EPT during it's very first tournament held in Barcelona what must have been 3 or 4 years ago. She worked on websites and ended up giving out t-shirts and hats (!) to each exiteer, and still remembers how it was literally Rolf Slotboom from Pokerpages who covered the then €1,000 event with it's 200 something runners, it's come a long way to this, quintuple the buy-in and over double the runners, with around fifty or sixty press people...
I think if you want a note on how well-done everything tends to be done on the EPT, then seeing how much fun Arthur has had, having never done one before, and just been on the WPT/WSOP events in the States. Seriously, the guy seems to enjoy himself and smile more than Age Spets.
Anyway here are the last 32 players:
Tommy Pavlicek 203000 1 1

Another exit super sharp, this time Sebastian Zink knocked out Adrian Schaap by hitting two pair on the flop with 8 9. We didn't see Adrian's hand but Zink now up to around 450,000.
Mikael Nordin has also been eliminated.
28 left!

Huuuuugeee pot!!!
NO! Bigger than that
board, Mikael Norinder bets 55k on the river against Luis Sevilla. Sevilla dwells for an age and Norinder calls for a clock, but as soon as the clock is called, Sevilla moves all-in, Mikael asks, "Do you have Aces? Ok, I call."
Luis Sevilla turns a shade of grey as he flips
for a complete bluff whilst Mikael shouts with joy as he triumphantly turns over
to win a pot of around 600k. Arnaud Mattern sighs and tells me, "Well, at least I got my share of his chips yesterday."

The last surviving Czech player Frantisek Striz has been knocked OUT in mysterious circumstances. Only mysterious because I missed his exit!!
--------------------------
Quote of the day so far goes to Mikael Norinder who on a flop of
asks Tommy Pavliceck where he is from and when he gets the reply "Canada" Norinder says "Well get your plane back there, I am all in!" To which Pavliceck insta calls with
for two pair. "Shit" says Norinder who shows only
LOL.
Tommy Pavliceck doubles to about 250,000 and Narinder is only smarted & dented only.

Arnaud Mattern doubled up short-stacked fellow countryman Cyril Bensoussan with A-Q vs A-8, 8 on the turn. "It's ok, we keep it in the family," says Benjo.
Mikkel Madsen is OUT, to Nedzib Suman.
vs
, Suman rivering the vital Jack.
Markus Golser has busted Oskar Silow with Jacks against Ace Jack.

Tony Phillips, the last remaining Brit is OUT. He lost a big pot with A-Q to Iliodoros Kamatakis A-K then Kamatakis finished him off with Queens against Nines, hitting Quads and shouting loudly.
Cyril Benssousan has doubled up again, this time through Tommy Pavlicek with
against
after an all rag board.

Kristian
Kjondal
has doubled up. Jose Navarro had raised and Kjondal called from the big blind before leading out for 20k on the
board, Navarro asked for a count before raising to around 80k. As he did so, I couldn't help but catch a glimpse of Kjondal's cards, which is something that I usually never do. Kjondal was sitting there with pocket Queens, which he was rechecking, so it was a little amusing watching the Norwegian sitting there quietly whilst waiting for Navarro to make the raise knowing that all the chips would shortly be in the middle. As expected, Kjondal moved in, Navarro made the call with
but failed to hit and Kjondal is now up to almost 400k.
Steven Voellers is OUT. No details I'm afraid, just the sight of him walking to the cash desk.

After the initial onslaught of exits, we slowed down to a crawl as is the case with this many players left. Saying that though we have lost ex Leeds & Sweden footballer Thomas Brolin. Down to only about 60,000 he pushed preflop with AK ran into Greek (former blackjack pro) online player Iliodoros Kamatakis also going all in for a lot more. He had protection though because the table left these two at it. Ilio's (meaning SUN) turned over JJ and then proceeded to ask for another Jack. All he has to is ask because a third Jack landed and Thomas Brolin is booted OUT in 23rd.

Ok, really sorry about all this, I'm trying to get the original thread back whilst we're on the break, hopefully it'll come back.
Some bad news now, especially if you're Canadian. First
Marc
Karam
(below) is close to the felt after calling
Markus
Golser
big overbet all-in on a
board, with
but failed to improve versus Golser's
with the turn and river coming
and
.
Next, and this hand is just pukeifing, it's just so sick and horrid and stunning all at the same time.
The board is reading:
Tommy Pavlicek is all-in, as is Juha Lauttamas and Mikael Norinder has called both.
Pavlicek:
Mikael Norinder:
Juha Lauttamus:
!!!
The river is the
, Lauttamus has Pavlicek covered and knocks him out and also doubles through Norinder at the same time. Pavlicek is absolutely devastated, Mike McDonald tells him there was nothing he could do.

Straight after the 15 min break, Luigi Rizzi with only 100k made the push with A6 and was called by Dagomir Pavlovic with K10. The flop was
A J 5 but the Q turn gave Pavlovic the straight and game over for Italian Rizzi.

Dagomir Pavlovic doubled up Irish player Paul Gormley by blind messing shenanigans. Pavlovic with blinds at 4k/8k made it 24k from the small blind and Gormley raised it 60k more leaving himself about 70k behind. Pavlovic went all in and put Gormley in the think tank for ages.
A clock was called and with 10 seconds he made the call:
Paul Gormley
Pavlovic (and shouts "Noooo" when Gorley called)
Gormley up to about 170,000.

On a
board, Markus Golser checks and Adrian Koy bets 50k. Golser calls. The river is dangerous looking
and now Golser leads out for 80k, only for Koy to move all-in behind him for about 390k more, Koy having Golser covered. A crowd gathers quickly as Golser thinks for an age before making the call, Koy lets out a deep sigh and flips
which he's turned into a bluff whilst Golser shows
and rakes in a 910k pot, having made a third impressive play. (The A-K overbet to elicit Marc Karam to call with a weaker Ace, and yesterday where he passed top two pair to a rivered backdoor flush). He looks to be the man in form now, and has to be the favourite.
Marc Karam is OUT, although Koy was crippled by that last hand, he still had Karam covered and called the Canadian's all-in with Tens to find himself up against A-T. The pair held, but Marc Karam cashes once again in an EPT, though not as highly as the last two.
The hoodied Nikolas Liakos has doubled through with
against the pony-tailed Sebastian Zink's
.

Iliodoros Kamatakis has just lost a big pot to Nedzib Suman. He bet 90k on the river of a
board, but could only show
when Suman made the call with
