and another thing; Does anyone else think it's weird that we are celebrating the birth of a fictional character by creating another fictional character that hands out presents?

People can believe in anything they want, I have no problem with that.

But you clearly have, or you wouldn't bother to post the volume of comments you have regarding your stance on religion (or should I say your anti-religious views). It's almost as tiresome as someone constantly preaching about God.

I agree with Red Dog's comment, consider the value of your posting before you make it and it's likely hood of it upsetting someone.

It ticked me off alot.

You can believe what you want, but i don't have to agree with it!

I've ticked you off?  Because I don't believe in the power of prayer?

I don't believe in a lot of things, and the idea of telepathically conversing with a supernatural being who is meant to be omnipotent is one of them.  I also find it incredible that people can get more upset with my view on the world and my opinion on praying than they can about child abuse.

I'm sure you could consider the language used in your signature before you created it and its likelihood of upsetting someone.

Nope you ticked me off because you felt the need to post it on this thread as Red said.

If you read what I subsequently posted, it wasn't a dig at religion.  I was saying actions speak louder than words.  That it's no use having these children 'in your thoughts' if you don't actively do anything to help.  Not to the children anyway, although it might make you feel better.

every time i get my chips in with a hand against a flush draw, i always say ... "please god no spade or whatever suit"  the way I am running lately, i dont think he is listening !!

maybe its cos of everyone saying prayers at xmas time for people that they dont give a toss about at any other time of the year.

I HATE CHRISTMAS

I HATE the fact that people are false ... people who wouldnt normally piss on you if you were on fire suddenly become caring and pass niceties around .. PISS OFF !! be nice all year round and then your efforts wouldnt come across as so bloody false and patronising ..

I HATE shop assistants who spend 51 weeks of the year with a face like a bulldog licking piss off a thistle, yet magically they suddenly become helpfull and cheerfull at Xmas, when there is a bleeding box on the counter for you to put your money in to thank them.

I HATE the fact that Xmas is just a commercial rip off and so many people get into serious debt just so that their kids can have the toys and games that every advert and tv programme tells them that they need.

If I could, I would piss off from civilisation for the entire month of December and go somewhere where Xmas and all its crass trimmings dont exist !!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and relaaaaaaaaaaaaaxxxxxxxx !!

I can't bring myself to condemn humanity like that.

I see Christmas as a time when people try to look on the bright side, are more open and pleasant, and behave a little bit better toward each other.

I like to think that having tried it, some of them will like it and keep it up for the rest of the year.

I'm as committed an atheist as you're going to get but even I don't claim Jesus is fictional.

Realy?..Surely when you tell stories about a man that can not possibly be true you have created a fictional character? Some schmuck might indeed have lived and have been called Jesus but as soon as you attribute qualities and a heritage to this man that can not possibly be true..it's fictional Smiley..Santa on the other hand...well that's a different story

My 7 year old is allowed to believe in Santa.
There is, after all some evidence.
She writes a letter, is a good girl and presents arrive Christmas morning.
Until a better theory presents itself, why not.
