looooooool. the way your post will be taken by some people is probably the way you took it when those words were used.

Alright - leave it out you two. Take it to PMs if you want to discuss this further.
To get it back on track, I hope you'll be both giving some money to a charity like Childline this xmas?

I took care to make sure I was not disrespectful towards Laxie and Charmaines genuine concern. I'm not insulting or name calling.

Unfortunately, people do hit and abuse kids. It's bad enough when it happens to adults, but children can't escape it or stand up for themselves. They need others to help. Giving them the opportunity to speak to someone can go a long way. Which is why I support Childline.
Of course, it's up to the individual what they do - I happen to think that my support for Childline does a little bit more than people's prayers.

I think if we're all honest, we could all do a lot more for charity / good causes than we do.
I give a bit of cash here and there, and I spend a lot of my free time teaching kids to protect themselves, but I know I could do a lot more.
I feel a new years resolution coming on.

Completely agree with you mate...in fact I couldn't agree more. I don't like it though when people bring up this sort of thing at Christmas times as a guilt-trip for others. This happens all year round and it's a pretty shitty thing all year round.
It seems at christmas you get 2 sorts of messages..1;"Let's buy loads of crap and spend too much money doing it when in fact noone needs the stuff" and 2; "Feel guilty about having a decent life and not being in deep shit".
The two don't really seem compatible with each other in my humble opinion and it always pisses me off.

I am not a regular church going type of person, and i wouldn't class myself as very religious.
That said, I do know those people that believe in "prayer" take a great deal of comfort from that and if they do work for some then I believe that should be respected.

People can believe in anything they want, I have no problem with that.
I'm not sure what you want me to 'respect' though? I respect their right to believe in what they want, but I also respect my right to disagree and to voice that opinion.

Sometimes perhaps, it's best to disagree without voicing that opinion.
PS- The irony of my own post hasn't escaped me.

every time i get my chips in with a hand against a flush draw, i always say ... "please god no spade or whatever suit" the way I am running lately, i dont think he is listening !!
maybe its cos of everyone saying prayers at xmas time for people that they dont give a toss about at any other time of the year.
I HATE CHRISTMAS
I HATE the fact that people are false ... people who wouldnt normally piss on you if you were on fire suddenly become caring and pass niceties around .. PISS OFF !! be nice all year round and then your efforts wouldnt come across as so bloody false and patronising ..
I HATE shop assistants who spend 51 weeks of the year with a face like a bulldog licking piss off a thistle, yet magically they suddenly become helpfull and cheerfull at Xmas, when there is a bleeding box on the counter for you to put your money in to thank them.
I HATE the fact that Xmas is just a commercial rip off and so many people get into serious debt just so that their kids can have the toys and games that every advert and tv programme tells them that they need.
If I could, I would piss off from civilisation for the entire month of December and go somewhere where Xmas and all its crass trimmings dont exist !!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and relaaaaaaaaaaaaaxxxxxxxx !!

I hate people like that as well.
Rest assured Kev, were you to spontaneously combust this festive season, my trousers would remain fully zipped up, just as they would were you to burn any other time of the year.
As for the original post, I have no idea what it is as Myspace is blocked at work, but judging from the comments that followed I suspect I'm not missing out on much.
